Vertigo's not going to release the second Bite Club miniseries as a seperate trade, instead releasing both minis in one trade. I already have the first one, I don't need to buy it again.

The little digest trade probly bombed in book stores. This is a bigger, thicker collection resembling watchmen, V for vendetta and will not resemble. the hundreds of superhero trades cluttering the shelves. Thin little collections tend to get lost on a bookshelf.

This collection, the new catwoman tpb and the Alan Moore Wilder worlds collection from wildstorm is a good thing because it may open up the possibility that lesser known miniseries and onesshots will be get collected together and be seen by a wider audience.

Did folks like Bite Club? I was reall underwhelmed by the first series (wasn't aware there'd been a second).

Well that's annoying. Bit Club was merely okay anyway so I'm not that fussed, but if I'd liked it more I'd be very annoyed.

Similarly I won't be picking up the Alan Moore and Darwyn Cooke books because I already have a good chunk of the material in each book in TPB form

That's really shit.

I know it wasn't a big seller, but do they really need to stick the middle finger up at those of us who brought it, liked it, and were eagerly awaiting the second series?

Actually I'm kind of happy about it. I'd rather thave one book than two on my shelves. For me that's worth a couple of extra bucks.

Another bonus is that this is a full sized volume printed at 7 x 10 instead of being pocked sized.

I liked the pocket-sized edition. I was only marginally interested in the first book but got it because it was cheaper than regular sized trades. I was hoping for more of the same with the second trade.

Yeah, it's great for you and GenericEric, but for those of us with the first one... not so great.

First they tell you to get the trade, then not wait for the trade, then get the trade fast so sales figures are good and now this....

That said, for those of you who haven't read it, it's not high art, but it's a damn fun read, all your usual Chaykin trademarks turned up to eleven.

Yeah, this is a bit of a head-scratcher. But I agree both series were a fun read (in fact I liked the sequel better than the original), so I'd recommend this new collection if you haven't bought it yet in another form.

It really bugs me when a full-sized original gets shrunk down to digest size when collected. I refuse to buy those little Oni GNs unless they're heavily discounted, no matter what size they started out at. I just don't like tiny comics, I guess.

I saw the numbers somewhere on the net on how many copies the first Bite Club trade sold. Very abysmal. I have the first trade and do not mind buying it again if it's the only way the 2nd one will be published. Bite club is'nt Vertigo's better series. But I find it good trashy fun.

Having bought the digest, I'm pretty irked about this...

Yeah, I'll buy it again, most likely. Just give the other copy to someone.

I think of it like Scarface.
It's not the best acted, best written, best directed, best anything film ever.
Yet some how, it's just so trashy and fun, that it all becomes better than the some of it's parts.

I've no real problem with it - makes them easier to carry around, and normally they are cheaper than a full sized trade.
Beyond that, I'm not going to let size stop me from reading a good story, that's just silly.

Agreed. In general, I have no preference in terms of format; there are varying advatages to each. Lately, I've been traveling quite a bit on short weekend trips. On flights, I find the pocket format to be really handy. Due to this, I've been seeking out works reprinted in this format and I was looking forward to reading Bite Club II soon.

OT: On a recent trip, I read Mike Carey's Spellbinders (picked up just because of the format). It' an under-rated gem.

I liked the pocket-sized edition.

Same here.

I liked Bite Club pretty well. Definitely worth the read, IMHO.

But size does matter. Seriously, I have trouble engaging with the art when it's really small. It doesn't completely stop me from enjoying the story, but it is a speed bump. And the thing about those tiny Oni GNs is that they're not cheaper than a full sized trade--it would bother me less if they were.

I guess that's a personal preference, but it seems a bit silly to ignore something such as Scott Pilgrim, one of the top three North American comics being made today simply because it's "too little."

I'm just saying.

Because it's not that great would be a better reason to ignore Scott Pilgrim

I bought the first digest and collected the second series. I'm not going to buy the TPB that collects them both. Any word on a 3rd Bite Club?

Probably get word when they get the sales back on this new trade getting released.
I don't think it sells enough in singles to justify it's existence to Vertigo, but if it sells in trade, we could all be in luck.

A Bite Club OGN would be awesome.
