Hey my fellow Hell-Heads! I saw on Best Buys website that they're gonna have a special edition of SOS that includes 3 of the Dark Horse mini-figures for $20.00 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8201876&st=hellboy&type=product&id=1617605

Does anybody know of any other deals/bonus items that other retailers might have,or is Best Buy the best bet?

Looks like it is only $16.99 on the BB site. Sadly, I hate Best Buy and won't ever buy anything from them anymore. But...that's just me.

BTW folks, for those who don't read Wizard regularly (which is probably most of you), there's an article in this month's issue mentioning that (while supplies last) if you purchase HB: SOS at Suncoast or FYI stores, you get a free copy of the Hellboy: SOD TPB with (what appears to be) a new cover. Just thought I'd throw that out there for any of you who may be on the fence about purchasing this DVD. Now you literally have no excuse!

Stygian mentioned that in another thread, if you don't have SOD or want another copy.

Tad also said that there are a 6 original Mignola sketches randomly packaged that are going to be carried by some company.

Future Shop is advertising a digest size Seed of Destruction with the Hellboy: Sword of Storms DVD here in Canada.

Since I already have the full-size version of that, those Best Buy figures look tempting.

It's Odd. I find Best Buy in Des Moines (my other home) to be nothing but great service and friendly people (no commission). That's not the case of the Best Buy on the southside here in Edmonton. I always find most of them to be insincere in their friendliness and sometimes rude. There are exceptions though and I've had some great service there too. Wonder why the big difference between here and in the US?

The Hellboy sketches - and they're really nice ones - will now be part of the promotion for Blood and Iron.

Answer: the boom. The service industry is in the shatter here.

But I never found Best Buy/Future Shop (same company now) all that great anyway. They are not "experts". Their previous job was at New York Fries.

Anyhoo, I pre-ordered my DVD already and it shipped yesterday! So I'll have it on the 6th probably, since it's going by regular mail. I didn't get any special deal of any kind, though.

Ah. Thanks for the heads up. Do you know which retailer will be carrying them yet?

Didn't someone say that Fye and Suncoast would have the SoS/Seed if Destruction combo as well?

Yes, twas I that said that. Also, thanks for stating it correctly as FYE (as I had said FYI). Happy hunting everyone!

And another verrrrrrrrrrry long interview with me. Mostly stuff you know. But the contest has more than the DVD as a prize.

Rule of thumb with electronic stores: the employees don't really know anything. But the local Best Buy's always had friendly service and going there armed with a little internet research is all it takes. I go there mostly to comparison shop these days. I hope they don't run out of the DVD before I'm able to get there!

What? Where? Contest?

As for Best Buy...yup, like all chains, there are good ones and bad ones but I've dealt with their corporate headquarters and there are only useless pinheads at the top of that food chain.

Best Buy in Burbank: SOLD OUT. They only have 10 copies per store. :(

$14.44 at Walmart for just the movie OR the bonus pack, which comes with The Black Wedding Comic...not sure why the bonus pack is the same price as the movie by itself.

I'm not complaining...

I also got the same Wal-Mart deal...however when you open the DVD case, there is a digest sized copy of HB Animated: Phantom Limbs written by Jim Pascoe and drawn by Rick Lacy and...there is a Mike Mignola pin-up at the end of the story.

1 copy of HB animated__$14.44
1 copy of HB Animated: Black Wedding__FREE
1 copy of HB Animated: Phantom Limbs__FREE
2 Mike Mignola pin-ups__Priceless

So the $16.99 BB exclusive comes with a special cardboard box and 3 bagged Bust-Ups, and those figures are about $5 each, so that's $15 of value-added merchandise, while Wal-Mart bundles The Black Wedding (retail $6.95) in a special cardboard "slipcase" with the DVD for $14.44, but since I will buy a complete set of the Bust-Ups, plus hunt for any variants (if they get made), I'm thinking that the Wal-Mart deal just may be slightly better (to me) and it may also explain why copies of The Black Wedding were hard to find in comics shops. Plus, Wal-Mart had the Amazing Screw-On Head right next to HB Animated.

Fantastic comic artist and Hellboy Animated revision artist, Paul Harmon, went to the same Best Buy as Rick and snagged a DVD before they sold out. But the guy he was with got the last figure pack. You get all three figures for 16 bucks. Considering that each will sell for aroun six - that's quite a deal!

Man, I didn't know they were going to be doing so much. Or maybe it's just seeing the actual item has made it real to me. No one's called me to say anything about sales but at one point it was up to #64 on Amazon. Pretty good considering the lack of TV commercials (has anyone seen the spots on Adult Swim?).

I had pre-ordered mine through chapters-indigo so I got no deals, no free figs, no extra comic. :(

However, I did get it delivered yesterday (!) and I didn't have to go out on the roads that have freezing drizzle on them today. So there. :p

For those who care about such things (and from the looks of it that would be most of the people in this thread), here is the cover to the Suncoast/FYE exclusive copy of Seed of Destruction. Oh, quick note regarding the size of the TPB- it's roughly the same dimensions as the DVD case that the movie comes in. I think it's actually kind of cute and pocket sized, but your results may vary. Enjoy!

Has anyone gotten the Best Buy pack yet? Do the Bust-ups come with the parts for building the skeleton? When you buy them each individually, each one is supposed to contain a piece required to assemble a bonus skeleton figure. I hope the BB pack also includes these pieces, as it would be frustrating to have to buy each Bust-Up again individually! Anyone?
Thanks,
Brisco

I haven't seen the spot. But I actually heard a radio commercial about the DVD yesterday.

10 per store. That just seems stupid. Or smart. I think the first one since I didn't get one.

Maybe I'll go pick this one up. Someone gave me a Suncoast gift car for Christmas. I didn't think I'd ever use it since I never shop there.

I'm looking at mine and they do not contain any skeleton pieces.

I was planning on buying a full set of the Bust-Ups anyhow, but if you haven't picked up The Black Wedding yet, the Wal-Mart pack is definitely the better deal IMHO.

Thanks for the confirmation, Grog. I already picked up the BB set, but now I think I'll actually venture into a Suncoast and get their version of the SOD digest, and return the BB one... In a few weeks, of course, so it can still register on the sales charts for now.

Me, I got both the BB and f.y.e. ones. Boy, so many exclusives.:p

BB still had about 4 left on the shelf when I was there around noon yesterday and f.y.e. had about 2 left in the evening. The cashier at f.y.e. said that the SOS dvds sell very well.:)

Hats off to you Mr. Stones!

The commentary and special features are wonderful on this disk.

Did you get one? Is it readable? I am always wary of comis that are reduced in size, because of the type.

For any fellow Canadians who haven't picked up the DVD yet (there could be one or two :) ) HMV actually had the better price, by far, over Wal-Mart for the same package - free comic inside. $14.99 vs $19.98.

My theory is that Blockbuster is the last place you ever want to purchase any new movies. However, they do sell previously viewed stuff at great prices, but their new stuff is always over priced IMHO.

I used to agree with that, but recently my Blockbuster started a 10 dollar new stuff shelf. I bought Jaws.

The only reason i got it there is that it's right next door to work and i won money for the booby prize in getting voted out of Survivor first.

Uh, not to quibble, but is Jaws really considered new? :p (just ribbin' ya)

When I say new I'm usually referring to movies fresh of the presses- like The Departed, Flags of our Fathers, Open Season, all having premiered over the last few weeks. New older stuff would be titles that you can usually find all day long at Walmart for around 9 bucks- like Jaws, Predator 1 and 2, Aliens, etc.
