I haven't read comics since the whole entire death of the superman.
just recently I have been getting back, I have a friend who has turned me on to the first six issues of JSA
I have since bought Darkness Falls TPB and Return Of Hawkman TPB
I have not even began to break the ice on the whole infinite crisis where should I start and what TPB should I buy?
I want to stay hooked on the DC universe but if I should stray from the JSA what else should I read?

All Star superman has that same kind of serious, reverent feeling to it. You'll like that if you like JSA.
Not a lot of serious books out there (from DC) these days. They're reorganizing the JLA to be more that way, but it seems to be picking up kind of slow.

All-Star Superman is, indeed, a cracking good read. It was the comic that got me back into reading comics after many a year away from the fold.
And Justice League I'm a big fan of these days. A lot of people seem to be put off by the book's pace, but I'm cool with it. I think Meltzer's got it down just right, he's nailed the relationships between the big three ( Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman ) and the Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Arsenal, and Black Canary perfectly. It makes a change to see these characters treated - in a team book - as characters and not just as gaudy tight-syphers. I'll be following this one for quite some time yet.
I think Superman Confidential is shaping up rather nicely, too, though I'd probably advise giving Batman Confidential a bit of a miss, or just waiting for the trade, maybe.
Also, on a much lighter note, but certainly absolutely worth shelling out the dollars for, is Darwyn Cooke's Spirit re-launch. Spectacular stuff.
