Red stuff in Legion #26

Very simply,

What's the red stuff that spreads throughout the sky in LSH #26? It kind of reminds me of the episode of 2nd season of Transformers when red stuff made all the humans and robots angry and violent.


Does anyone know? Is this a historic threat?

One guess I saw is that it's the Red Terror, a weapon used by the Khunds in the Five-Years-Later Legion stories. It basically paralyzes people with fear.

I thought it was marking the planet as belonging to the Dominators. Red dot, you know?

That was my first guess as well. Brainy's indication that "we've already lost" would seem out of character unless it was something that robbed him off his confidence. (Unless they say it was a Dream Girl flash or something.) Both Waid and Kitson are connected with Giffen's 5YG Legion (Waid as the editor that developed the series, Kitson as artist of L.E.G.I.O.N), so I would assume they would remember the potential in that storyline, which, in my opinion, was where the cracks were beginning to show after fourteen brilliant issues.
