You hear that sound? It's not the sound of the x-rays, it's the sound of George Orwell spinning in his grave! It's not enough for the executive to track our movements using biometric ID cards, obtain our property through compulsary purchase orders, tax us to the hilt and regulate every facet of our existance!

No they're not content with that at all. They'll only be content when they render all of the male population infertile in the name of national security.

Oh well, I'm off to manufacture a set of lead underwear.

I think that they should instead impose a law where everyone has to be naked.

What? I'm a low-tech kind of guy.

Does anyone remember those x-ray glasses advertised in the back of comic back in the 70's.

I wanted those sooo bad.

Well, at least then I wouldn't have to expose my 'nads to rads.

Whilst I'm sure that the majority of men will not see fertility problems when exposed to the x-ray "cameras", there will surely be some guys who are "borderline" infertile (those with low sperm counts or those with only one testicle). Exposure to these cameras might eliminate that "borderline", thereby rendering them infertile. Any health experts wanna' chime in?

Also considerations for who already have to do a fair bit of xrays for medical reasons! I've had a stupid amount already, even with trying to be careful and limit it in view of the fact that I'll continue to have to get them and my rheumatologist doesn't want to, yknow, poison me or give me cancer etc etc. I can't articulate how medically irresponsible that would be, on top of the major invasion of privacy.

Unless you've got something to hide, why should the man (or woman) in the street object to being bombarded by a constant stream of X-rays every time they leave their house? What do you have to hide, hmm, Blair?

Do you have any idea how misleading that title is? I was actually excited about this for a second!

Whaaaa?

So in the name of national security, the government has to see the genitals of everyone in Britain? Screw that.

That's what we need, Blair!

A T-Shirts with

Rads2
Nads!
in a big red circle with a slash through it! :D

Then, running around the outside of the red circle, the words: I insist upon being strip-searched by hand, the olde-fashioned way!

Provided "they" are hot chicks, I really don't have a problem with this.

They're not. They're John Prescott and John Reid.

And they want to see your genitals.

Arf! They will be calling him "two 'nads"* instead of "two jags/jabs" next!

(UK political joke. Americans will NOT get this)

"But privacy should not be a concern because there is only a shadowy outline of the body, says Mr Ayers."

Oh, well in that case, I guess it's alright.

Do you think these guys have any inkiling as to why people keep protesting every step we take towards 1984?
Or do they just sit their puzzled going "It's not like we took photos without their knowledge of them totally naked".

If people actually read the article they'll see that this is all theorising about technology that doesn't exist yet.

Current scanners require much longer exposure and only work at short range.

The cost of putting these all over the place would be insane and the resolution would be so low that they'd have both very limited security use and wouldn't really let the police see anything in any case.

I'd be more concerned about stuff that actually, you know, exists like stop-and-search powers.
