This story crosses over Ranma with another one of my favourite animes. However, while I'll hint at what that anime is through out the chapter, I'll leave it largely a surprise until the end of this chapter. ;)

I will be taking some liberties with Kuno's backstory to hopefully make the conflict more interesting.
-------------------------------------------------

The Blue Thunder of Furiken High, a man who's skill with the wooden blade is matched only by his lustful passion for romance and life. At this hour, his passions soar to greater hights than ever before.

He is on a pristine and mysterious alien world, characterized by creatures scarcely imagined, and swarming armies of shadows. A world not his own, but desired by an old friend of his.

"Tatewaki..." came the voice of this friend, in a flashback racing through Kuno's mind, "My armies are rebuilt. My eventual rulership of all is assured! Come, my old friend... now that I have a means by which to travel between my adopted world, and my world of birth, join me as the Field Commander of my forces! With you leading them into battle, nothing can stop them or us!"

"Your appraisal of my skills are accurate and true, and you were once privaleged enough to know the camaraderie of Tatewaki Kuno!" responded the eloquent and firm voice of the head of the Kuno estate, in this flashback, "Nonetheless, I have come to hear of your betrayal of your family, and peers, to ally with aggressive, terrible beasts! Your tactical mind is sharp, former friend, but your heart is now as black as the dark magics that the wretched Ranma uses against my beloved pig-tailed girl!"

"I did not betray my family!" snarled he who would recruit Kuno into his ranks, "My family betrayed me! Come, Kuno... aid me in the destruction of that miserable master of oneupmanship who stands in my way at every turn, and I will command my forces to destroy the accursed Saotome for you!"

Kuno had been tempted by those words, but tried to hide the existence of such temptation by narrowing his eyes towards his former friend, and would-be ally.

"Yes..." came the playful voice of this strategic genuis, as he began to move all about the slightly taller Kuno in animated and enthusiastic fashion, attempting to win him over with his words, "Yes, yes, yes! I can see that you're beginning to see things my way! Give me the power that I crave, and am rightly owner of... and I will give you all the women you'll ever want, Kuno! You can have them all!"

"There is but two women I want, politician..." chimed in Kuno in reply, "Akane Tendo, and the pig-tailed girl!"

"Then I will give you both!" exclaimed the young man who attempted to seduce Kuno into working for him, "Just as I will soon be ruler of two worlds! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha... ha-ha-ha-ha... ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!"

Kuno sneered over what he saw as the base, and insane, sentiments of a callous conqueror.

"No." he stated emphatically in response to the scantilating offer put before him, "Take yourself off of my residence, barbarous tyrant! I will have no more to do with you, or the filthy beasts who you call soldiers!"

"Barbarous tyrant?!" exploded Kuno's unwanted guest in reply, "How dare you turn your back on me, and fail to see the liberation that I offer through servitude... and after we stayed at the same house together for two years as children at that! He's gotten to you, hasn't he? It's all part of his dirty coup d'etat, isn't it?!"

"Blasphemy, philistine!" exclaimed Tatewaki Kuno in response, unsheathing his bokken to force a friend of his youth to slowly move backwards in retreat, "Tatewaki Kuno is his own man! I am not to be manipulated by anyone... including him, and you. Now... begone!"

The slightly trembling in anger, though not fear, friend turned enemy to Kuno, took a comb out of his jacket to try to sooth himself by giving himself the perfect head of hair. He then pointed his index finger forward at Kuno with supreme contempt.

"I'll leave your precious premises for now, Kuno..." he snarled, "But mark my words, you'll regret turning down my most generous offer. The next time such an offer comes your way, refusal will not be an option. Ha ha ha ha... ha ha ha ha... ha ha ha ha!!!"

Unfortunetly for Kuno, his former friend had made good on his threat. Through stealth and subterfuge, both Akane, and the pig-tailed girl, had been kidnapped by this military commander during a special operation. Shortly thereafter, a note indicating this successful kidnapping was delivered to Kuno by one of the military commander's top soldiers. The note made an ultimatum to Kuno to agree to all of the military commander's terms - alone, and in person - or Akane and the pig-tailed girl would be put to death!

Now Kuno raced with the burning desire of a thousand suns, and the resolve of stainless steel, intent upon rescuing the twin lights of his heart, and bringing righteous judgement to bear upon the brow of his new foe!

However, his foe would not be easy to reach, as he was located deep within the catacombs of a towering fortress of unusual technological wonderment.

In his mind's eye, Kuno relived how he had shown this former friend of his the importance of student groups, such as his own beloved kendo club. His sister, and his former friend, often played together, enjoying the sound of their shared laughter.

Now, however, this former friend held Akane Tendo and the pig-tailed girl captive. An army of thousands who spoke a language unknown to Kuno, but uttered with compelling force and rhetorical grandieur by his brilliant foe, stood between him, and his ultimate destination.

The testament to his foe's massive ego, but also startling successes, was seen in a shimmering statue of his foe looming over the racing form of Kuno, and accentuating the front entrance to his foe's fortress, reflective of the magnitude of what the Blue Thunder would soon face.

Could he hope to stand against the invincible Bugrom Empire?

Could he hope to topple Lord Katsuhiko Jinnai, and rescue his captured loves?

Or... would he become the mere pawn in the mad plans of another to rule all of El Hazard?

To be continued...

Heh, not bad. ;)

BTW, have you seen Tenchi Muyo! GXP? I think you would like the character Seiryo Tennan. He's basically Kuno with pink hair and a lightsaber. :D

Breaking news! I just finished the raw version of the prologue to Secret of the Streams! (The 16-pages long prologue. Urk.)

I'm so glad I managed to get motivated again, mostly thanks to our discussions on the newest fanfiction thread over at Rumbles.

Hurray!

FINALLY!

It's spellchecked, but I haven't proofread it yet so there may still be some rough edges.

At the base of the newly constructed Burgrom fortress was a large entranceway, with two large, red coloured bugrom warriors standing at attention on each lateral side of the imposing door. These creatures caused the slightest degree of trepidation in the heart of Kuno, as he spied them from behind some thick nearby foilage. They were quite tall, and the dim light of this region of El Hazard reflected with a sharp glint off of their hard torso shells. They looked like a hybrid between a centipede, and a human.

Tatewaki quickly deduced that a full frontal assault may not be the best course of action to overcome them. Hence, he picked up several rocks, and started to throw them like baseballs at the bugrom guards. This caused the guards to become alarmed, and begin speaking in their language which was like gibberish to the ears of almost all humans.

They began to sprint outwards to find the source of the thrown stones that had riddled them, but in so doing they had created some distance between one another, which worked to Tatewaki's advantage. With a great battle cry, Kuno then raced from out of the bush, and with a crescent slice from his bokken, he struck against the back of one bugrom soldier with all his might!

The bugrom soldier yelped in great pain, and collapsed to the ground unconscious. However, Kuno then found himself besotted by the three remaining bugrom guards who leapt at him with incredible force, and speed.

He felt their many thin limbs crash against him, and attempt to strangle him. Kuno flexed his muscles with great strain, seeking to break free from the small dogpile of bugrom soldiers that now lay on top of him.

With a powerful shout, the Blue Thunder broke free with an andrenaline rush like lightning, causing the three remaining bugrom to be dispatched. Kuno, breathing with a slightly increased heaviness, quickly came to his feet, catching his breath.

"Ha ha!" he laughed, pleased over his early work, "None can resist the relentless rolling thunder of Tatewaki Kuno! While your mindless soldiers suffer ignoble defeat at my hands, Jinnai, soon it will be you who will face my unbridled wrath... and it is a wrath that shall be unending if you have so much as harmed a signle hair upon the heads of Akane Tendo, and the pig-tailed girl!"

Fears of being the victim of such passionate revenge plagued the mind of Lord Katsuhiko Jinnai's chief ally, the Bugrom Queen Diva.

"Is this wise, Mr. Jinnai?" she asked of the man who she considered a Messenger from God, as the two of them, and three members of Jinnai's inner circle of bugrom soldiers, looked on at the captured forms of Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, "Why risk enflaming this... great swordsman who you told me about... against us?"

Jinnai, wearing his Shininobi High student uniform with several Bugrom medals of honour pinned to it, snickered at the Queen's line of questioning, as his arms were folded neatly in a confidant stance.

"We have repopulated the Bugrum Empire, Diva." he began in answer, "And we have even found a new ultimate weapon to obliterate the Rashtarian Alliance with! Nonetheless, I have learned of what undid us when we came so close to dominating all of El Hazard before... and what may undo us again if we are not careful!"

"And what is that, Lord Jinnai?" asked Queen Diva.

"The bugrom spies that I had instructed to closely follow that bastard Makoto Mizuhara reported to me that he has gained the ability to manipulate all machines native to El Hazard..." answered Jinnai, "Bugrom reconaissance has told me of numerous instances of Mizuhara having a strange control over any mechanical device that he touches. Don't you see, Diva? It is this strange power that my most hated enemy has gained that lead to Ifurita's turning against me! He corrupted her, damn him!!!"

"Yes... yes, I believe I do see what you're saying, Mr. Jinnai!" exclaimed Queen Diva in reply, "We can't stop your dreaded enemy with machines..."

"Because he'll simply turn them against us." stated Jinnai, finishing Diva's sentence, "And bugrom forces alone will do no good against Makoto due how he is protected by the amazing strength of my former Sensei, Masamichi Fujisawa, as well as the elemental might of the Priestesses. We need, Diva, someone who can overcome these obstacles put before us. Someone of unique skill, speed, and strength. Someone like... Tatewaki Kuno."

Diva dwelled on Jinnai's words, while she looked at the bodies of Akane Tendo, and Ranma Saotome in his female form, each held within their own personal hollow cylinder of suspended animation. She held great respect, and trust, for Jinnai... yet, she often found him overly rash, and quick to engage in needless risks. She wondered if now was another such instance.

"There was much sense in turning to this... Mr. Kuno... while you thought him to still be an ally." stated Diva with a tone of reservation to Jinnai, "But now that you know that your previous friendship with him is considered ended... his skills may come to do more damage to us than to the Alliance!"

"Let him trounce a few bugrom soldiers..." replied Jinnai, with a most malevolent grin splashed across his face, as he turned his head to make eye contact with Diva, "Let him overly exert himself rushing off against me. Let him see firsthand the great numbers, and power, of our indestructable Bugrom Empire! Then, once he is a beaten, and tired, foe, grovelling before me for mercy, I will give him one last chance to have his dear, sweet girlfriends back... if he agrees to serve me. He will capitulate to my demands then, Diva, and then... nothing will stop me! Then, Makoto Mizuhara will be killed by the blade of Kuno, and all of El Hazard will be mine! Bwa-ha-ha-ha... ha-ha-ha-ha... HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!"

Diva was left in awe of Mr. Jinnai's plan, and began to laugh along with her dearest ally. While Kuno began to race through Lord Jinnai's fortress with an increasing sense of desperation, Katsuhiko Jinnai calmly schemed the entire conquest of a magnificent world.

good points

1. yougot the character Jinnai right, for the most part. He is a fun meglomaniac.

2. Kuno was fun as well.

bad points

1. you needs a way to own the unique laughter. It's hard to put in text and ha ha ha doesn't quite work.

other points:

1. how the heck did jinnai get those two? Jinnai's good, but without a plan, he's toast.

I suppose a good dose of trecherous poisoning was involved. Ranma always falls like a sucker for those.

Question, DJ, does Jinnai know Ranma and Pigtailed Girl are one and the same?
