Was looking through my comic collection and checked some 80s issues picked up Thor #385, haven't read it in awhile but man talk about a knock down drag out fight, not much story just fighting from start to finish...

Anyone else read or own this awesome fight? It's gotta rank up there with their all time great Thor/Hulk battles.

Man, Frenz & Milgrom are really channelling Kirby on that cover. Nice. :)

It was a great issue. Great fight too. Many Thor fans complained because Thor basically lost. I think it was one of his best showings. He went toe-to-toe with an angry Hulk (without Mjolnir) and just kept coming back from more.

And the inside art was by an early Erik Larsen , how his art has changed over the years.

This is one issue I look to when I need to depict a good fight scene. It's one big fight scene in itself.

I think the story involved the Hulk having recently returned to Earth after being banished to an alternate dimension by Dr. Strange. It's been so long since I've read it, and I could very well be wrong.

This really did show how powerfull Thor was even then without the Odinforce and all that. He was beating a Banner-less Hulk into the ground with Mjolnir. Dominating. Then he threw away the hammer and went toe to toe evenly matched with him, while still worried about every civilian around him and not wanting to really KILL the Hulk (Not saying he could but none the less he didn't want to). And it ends with Hulk asking why can't he beat Thor, and then leaving.

Godly!

:D

Any recent fights where it went 12, 14, 18 pages long?

And if not, why the heck not? WOuldn't it be awesome to have that once in a while in your favorite comic.

Enemy of the state, Maybe?

IIRC Stan "The man" Lee himself helped to write that issue.
Just some fun information.

ahhhh how i miss those classic comic covers, prefer those covers which make it feel like a comic rather than the modern comics we get these days
