Is it not time to give Longshot a more modern haircut?
I know they are trying to riff on the eighties and such but even dazzler has moved on in terms of hairstyles.

He wouldn't be Longshot without the mullet.

Not to mention the mullet is coming back into style in some circles.

No clue. Someone mentioned that the mullet is back in style in some areas over on Comix-Fan.

I wouldn't be averse to a slight change to his hair, but it would have to remain distinctive; Ultimate Longshot has short hair, and he just looks like Havok. So you'd need something to set Longshot apart.

But then again, I'm fine with them leaving it the way it is too. It's not like it was fashionable even when he first appeared... Spider-Man mocked it in the third issue of Longshot's mini. The irony is that Longshot is irresistable to women despite the mullet, not because of it.

It makes him cute like a puppy! I think he should get a manga odd spiky do like Cloud from final fantasy. That would be hot.

We already have a Final Fantasy character in Korvus. Let's leave it at that. ;)

Id just give him straight up long hair myself.

Longshot needs a update so people stop looking at the mullet and start looking at the character.

He should have been one of the New Avengers

Trailer parks. The Appalachain Mountain regions. The Deep South.

You know. Places that are already fairly cut off from the outside world.

I liked Ultimate Longshot (the i next to the o on the keyboard doesn't help lol) and his look, especially after he escaped to the Savage Land. The gruffy look definitely suited him, and his sharp nose was very clear under Immonen.

That look wouldn't work in 616, though. That's not who he is. I loved Dan (Veggie's) design, very cool.

He should keep the mullet. For better or worse, it has become one of his visual trademarks. They gave him short hair during the spalsh page of that Deadly Genesis "What if?" a short while ago and he just looked weird as hell.

Uh... no. And no. I have yet to see any people rocking mullets in the Chicago clubs. And I haven't seen anyone rocking anything Dazzler's wearing, either.

Just give Longshot long hair. Mullet needs to go.

Not to take away from your quip, but the mullet actually is back in vogue. Of course, the new styles of mullet are modified versions that actually look good when properly cut and styled.

they can change longshots hair while keeping the vibe the same, just give him longer hair, or a ponytail

What should he get? A 'fro?

An afro, sometimes called a "natural" or shortened to "fro", is a hairstyle in which the hair extends out from the head like a halo, cloud or ball. This may or may not include wearing such afros long, to several times the diameter of the head. An afro requires curly hair and often, but not always, Afro textured hair, which typically people of indigenous African descent naturally have.

Don't be so silly.

wow, 2 pages on longshots haircut. keep the thread alive!

anyway, the only time i ever saw a longshot picture with short hair i spent 20 minutes going "x-man wasn't blonde, and cable wasn't young...." before i caught on.
you'd thing the glowing eye and the throwy things would be enough to tip off "longshot" but idk, it fits him. he's corny and cheesy and stoic and battle-weary from living on a world in constant war. the mullet kinda fits his personality in a way. maybe it reminds him of the good old days.

Two pages?! Wow, you have your settings small!

For me, it's a little over half a page right now. Still more than I'd have expected for a hair thread.

Even though I'd like to see Longshot get a different hairstyle it's probably not going to happen.

The hair is part of his visual trademark.

I wouldn't mind him getting a new hairstyle, I don't see why he would have to keep the same 'do--almost every other character has changed hairstyles and costumes numerous times and Longshot is still rockin' the same style/get-up from his first appearance. I liked him with shorter hair in Ultimate (which he was a lot more badass in ultimate anyway). I wouldn't mind the mullet so much if his bangs weren't made to look so poodle-poofy....barf. Art Adams drew Longshot with a decent mullet--but I say if he has to keep long hair then give him something a little more...I dunno, edgier. Longer hair that says "badass" instead of "trailer trash".

Am I the only one who thinks he wouldnt get a new hairstyle because he has NO clue about fashion? He's constantly mind wiped, so unless a team mate brings it up he wouldnt at any point come to that conclusion. Most people change fashion for others not themselves ie "so the rest of the world doesnt laugh at me" and since he has every girls in a 5 mile radius falling in love with him he doesnt have any incentive to "update" his look.

All his teamates on exiles come from different worlds with different fashion tastes so I doubt theyd be the ones trying to tell him how to dress. Blink and Sabes probably have the exact same problem as him when it comes to fashion.

it'd make a nice character moment in a book, but in the end it serves no purpose.

Every character shouldnt be cool by our modern standards, especially a character who's defined by his innocence and cluelessness.

While Longshot is continually made into an amnesiac thanks to Mojo, I think his style should remain static because he has no identity or sense of himself.

I believe Longshot should always be a reflection of the most popular styles at the time, since he was sort of created to be a hero in sort of a television universe and such

You'd be right if he had that as part of his concept, that basically he was reinvented during the memory wipes. But it was always just a memory wipe then hes put back out there in a pre-truman show sorta thing.

That would be cool tho, but it isnt actually part of his concept. It would be nice to see someone take him in that direction, but the reinventions would have to be rare, or it would burn out fans on the concept.

except that he does gain a sense of himself as he goes about his journies (like in longhost miniseries from the 80s)

...only to have Mojo mindwipe Longshot again. When Mojo sent Longshot to the X-Men's Danger Room in Uncanny X-Men Annual #10, Longshot was placed back to square one being an amnesiac once more.

Arthur Adams co-created Longshot so expect his co-creator to draw Longshot very well.

My kid watched Disney this morning then we turned it off. Later in the afternoon I turned the TV on and the show Zack & Cody was on (I.e I dont watch it.) and I was stunned at the hair that Zack and Cody were wearing. When they started the show they had the usual short and slightly spiked and hightlighted hair. Now I see they are wearing something akin to the Hair Helmet from back in the late 60's to early 70's.

That being said let me note that I felt they looked awful. If I was thier age (13) I wouldn't be caught dead with that hair-don't.

So even though the hair style may be coming back into fashion in certain circles doesn't mean that it actually looks good.

Just look at Greg Behrendt show (Which I also dont watch), he looks like a trailer trash mullet wearer who got smoked by a cigarette and wears a 'I'm trying to be hip' goatee.

In Order for the Mullet to truly come back into style the people who lived at that time and remember why it went out of style have to be removed from the planet. :D

Faux-hawks are not good style. On the other hand, neither is the blonde-Jovi mullet.

But Archangel had a mullet that was eventually transmuted into just regular long hair. They should do that with Longshot. Or he could have X-man style split bangs.

Oooh....favorite continuity hole involving Longshot's hair:

In X-men #11 Jubilee asks if "Blonde Jovi" had been an X-man. But of course, she should've known...because she was first exposed to the X-men in UXM #244, and Longshot remained with the team until UXM #248. Yet another Jubilee gaff!

She even wore one of his jackets, as I recall, when she was scavenging their base for clothes. You'd think she'd have recognized that, it's pretty distinctive.

Mojo puts Longshot back to square one; therefore, any kind of development he receives is gone because he is an amnesiac again. In Uncanny X-Men, Longshot vaguely remembers Spiral, but he does not remember who she was in her past life. He only sees something familiar about her.

Most of the time, yeah. Except even when he's mindwiped, his instinct to rebel never disappears... as a blank slate, he continues to assert his freedom. Except something is different this most recent time, because the Longshot in Exiles considers himself Mojo's property on loan. I'd imagine Bedard was going somewhere with that, but we may never find out where now.

Because early 90's long split bangs are all the rage ;)...At least the faux-hawk is still a "popular" style by media standards (all those "pretty" 20-something TV and movie actors are still sporting it - though, without the mullet and with a more "traditionally" "spiky" look).
