So flipping through the channels right now, SPIKE TV seems to be playing "Cobra" (Stallone/Nielson) for the umpteenth time this month. Brian Thompson is the big bad in the flick.
I got to thinking... once just once I'd like to see a movie where he's the hero or on the hero's team at the very least surviving to the end, and not the big scary guy come to chop you up into little bits.
Is there anyone you all would like to see step to the other side of the line.

The name means nothing to 99.99% of the people reading this, but I always felt sorry for Roy Barcroft, Western villain extrordinaire, never getting a chance to play a good guy in any of the thousands of movies and TV episodes he made.
I felt happy for Alan Rickman getting one of the girls in SENSE AND SENSIBILITY since he usually ends up dieing a Horrible Screaming Death in his movies (excepting TRULY MADLY DEEPLY which was a fine romantic film except for the fact he's already dead at the beginning of the picture!).
Ditto Tristam Coffin and William Clayton Moore. Most of their roles were as evil henchmen in various serials, Westerns, and gangster pics, but Coffin got to be KING OF THE ROCKETMEN and Moore...well...if I gotta tell ya there's just no point...;)

He lived in Dogma. Course, he also had no penis.

I know he's played a villian before, but I'd really like to see Sean Connery play a James Bond Villian.

So did I, till he did The Avengers.

Sean William Scott. With the proper guidance, he'd be a wonderful serial killer.

Crispin Glover has only ever played two roles in his life: 1.) Awkward horny teenager and 2.) Creepy and/or Murderous Weirdo--and now he's way too old for the former. I think he's really talented, but it would be nice to see him play a character that could be described as "normal."

You know, I can't recall Brian Thompson portraying anything other than a villain who gets axed. It's too bad, I've always liked him and thought he could be a really interesting hero...

I would like to see James Marsden play someone that does not have his women lusting after someone else and made to look like a man-bitch.

He's had a couple supporting roles where he was a good (or at least decent) guy, but I'd like to see Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy from the "Harry Potter" flicks) get to be the hero once or twice.

He also had a guest-starring role on a "Babylon 5: Crusade" episode where he was pretty much a "good guy". Or at least not a villain.

You should check him out on Showtime's "Brotherhood." He's not the hero exactly (there really aren't any on that show), but his character, while a criminal, has a lot of redeeming qualities and is portrayed in a fairly sympathetic manner, not unlike Tony Soprano.
