As of episode 14/15, I think it's about time Code Geass got its own thread here :p

For the new folks, Code Geass is kind of like a cross between Gundam Seed and Death Note, with some V for Vendetta and Eureka 7 tossed in. And Pizza Hut. And fanservice. (Did I get everything?)

Here's the Wikipedia blurb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_Geass):

On August 10th, 2010, a.t.b., the Holy Britannia Empire overpowered Japanese forces and conquered the country with their robotic weapons, the Knightmare Frames. Japan lost its freedom and rights and was renamed to Area 11, under the complete control of the Britannia Empire. The Japanese people, stripped of their identity and now referred to as "Elevens", are now forced to survive in ghettos, while Britannians live in first-class settlements. Yet rebel elements exist, as pockets of Japanese nationalists continue the fight for their independence.

A young boy named Lelouch made a pledge to destroy the Britannia Empire after his father, the King of Britannia did nothing to pursue the terrorists who murdered his mother and crippled his sister. Seven years later, he stumbles upon a group of rebel Elevens who have stolen a military secret. With the weapon of Geass that he obtains from the secret, he finally has the tool he needs to face the Britannian empire and take his revenge. The mecha are pretty small (~5 m) and land-based, which I find refreshing. You have more terrain/obstacles to play tactics with.

I like this piece of fanart:

Spoileriffic discussion follows...

So, episode 14.
Did Lelouch wipe all of Shirley's memories of him? I'm hearing that his excuse for the resulting obvious discrepancy in ep.15 is "We broke up, and she's acting like she doesn't know me." That's... really weak :/ He seriously couldn't think of a better idea?

The thought of having one's memory selectively but cleanly erased like that is pretty scary, and sad :( But that reminds me, I wonder if a new volume of Tsubasa is out...

you guys do know that this is getting a second season this year it got that popular. But (reportedly) thanks to senseless Japanese fans requesting (and getting) two recap eps earlier this season, the TV timeslot reservation is gonna expire after ep.23, so we don't even know when we'll see eps 24 and 25. I hope those fans are happy now. *grumble*

It's a little late, but here's my assessment of the season/series thus far: First half is awesome, second half is disappointing, tail end is awesome.

More specifically, a number of factors contributed to the second half's disappointment:

1. Horrible, horrible new OP (opening song).
2. Kallen is "developed" into a total moron/lapdog, flushing alot of initial goodwill and potential.
3. Focus shifts from Cornelia and Brit royalty in general to Suzaku and various diversions. Plans get thwarted, progress slows, momentum breaks.
4. In particular, writing for the Mao arc sucked. IMO the rot started there. (Two plots, no followup on the blood test, a particularly dumb solution from Lelouch... Oh, and that nasty new OP.)

Thankfully eps 22,23 may have gotten things back on track. We'll see how eps 24,25 and Season 2 go.

Ah, something else disappointing about the second half: The relationship-juggling came crashing down. After Shirley dropped out and Kallen got stuck in a rut, C.C. was left largely unopposed. On the plus side, they did handle Euphemia alright.

IMO Kallen really dropped the ball. (Or looking at it another way, the writers did. Word has it they clipped some of her planned development for the season.) You can't take her seriously as a love rival to C.C. when she has no idea about the real man behind the mask. (Even Shirley was ahead in this area since she liked Lelouch, as opposed to Zero.) Turning out to be a total idiot didn't help Kallen's case either. She essentially went from first place to last over the course of the season. Very disappointing.

Has anyone heard anything on when the last episodes are coming out?A few sites say July 21 or 22 (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-05-10/code-geass-to-premiere-series-finale-in-july-events) are the premiers, but some people are saying those are theater events with a limited audience, not TV airings. ARRRGH, FASTER! :( :p
