I have read a classic Nickelodeon thread on the RetroJunk message boards, & I saw biggest news devoted to the subject & the news came from Nickelodeon themselves: They are planning to do a new Nickelodeon channel devoted solely to the classic Nickelodeon shows of the past. The name of the new staion is either The Nickelodeon Classics Channel or The Classic Nickelodeon Channel.

There are 15 classics already being slated to be part of the new network. These are as follows:

Clarissa Explains It all
Nickelodeon Double Dare
Eureeka's Castle
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
The Adventures of Pete & Pete
Nickelodeon Finders Keepers
Nickelodeon Guts
Hey Dude
Inspector Gadget
Nick Rocks (The mid-to-late 1980s music video show!)
Pinwheel
Salute your Shorts
Welcome Freshmen
Wild & Crazy Kids
You Can't Do That On Television

You also get classic Nickelodeon bumpers!

How do all of you like about this bit of news?

Yes I get to see The Adventures of Pete & Pete again!:D

I thought I heard that it was too expensive to show You Can't Do That on Television again because the cast members asked for too much money.

Well, a lot of the jokes are dated now, since the Cold War is long over, and a lot of the fads they did skits about (like Pac-Man and Cabbage Patch Kids) passed long ago. But I guess there's still the nostalgia factor.

P.S. Legato, I hate to go off topic, but weren't you signed up for a certain murder mystery crossover thing? :) Check your private messages.

What was the name of the show that used a green screen to "put people inside of videogames"? I was so amazed by that as a kid :D

Assuming that this info is true, this channel would indeed be very awesome.

I don't watch as much TV as I used to, but my nostalgic side hopes this is true, too...and not just 'the introduction to the opposite sketches'. :)

(That joke will be probably be lost on those unfamiliar with a certain show named above)

Clarissa Explains It All!

My brush with television immortality will be returned to the small screen!

*got to be an extra in one episode*

I don't even recall the precise episode. Just that it centered around Clarissa discovering amazing musical talents. I got to be one of the "band members" for that particular scene.

Everyone from the cast was really cool (Particularly the "Dad" and "Little Brother"), and spent a little time before and after the shoot hanging out and chatting with us. Except Melissa Joan Hart, who was making out with whoever her boyfriend was at the time in-between takes. ;)

"Welcome Freshman" (at least before they changed it from a psudo-sketch comedy program to a standard, "Saved by the Bell"-ish sitcom) was sort of the "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" of its era. I also want them to show "Don't Just Sit There", classic "All That" (i.e. pre-Season 7), "Roundhouse", "Mr. Wizard's World", "Kids' Court", and several others that I can't immediately think of right now.

10. Noah Knows Best
Don't remember it.

9. 100 Deeds For Eddie Mcdowd
I loved that show! Every week Eddie had to do a new good deed to be human again. Very original and fun.

8. Hey Dude
Don't remember it.

7. Land of the Lost
I have heard of it, but never saw it.

6. My Cousin Skeeter
This show was pure crap. One of the few "classic" Nick shows I couldn't stand. Led the way for craptastrophies like "That's So Raven" and "The Suite Life Of Zach And Cody".

5. My Brother And Me
Don't Remember It

4. The Journey Of Allen Strange
Fairly enjoyable show. I remember that the kids were likable.

3. Mystery Files Of Shelby Woo
I know I've heard of it before, but that's all I remember.

2. Roundhouse
I don't think I've ever heard or seen this show before.

1. Space Cases
Man, that show was great. The "Star Trek" that was actually enjoyable.

Roundhose was like an abstract version of All That: fewer recurring characters, no detailed sets, and an emphasis on song and dance bits. But the most distinctive part of the show was the guy in a recliner fixed to a motorized platform, TV and BBQ grill included.

And honestly, those 10 shows are "forgotten" because they sucked.

Half those shows are too recent. Any show that were on after I entered high school in 1996 wouldn't be big on the nostalgia factor for me. Although Space Cases (which Peter David worked on) and The Secret World of Alex Mack would get a pass.

I'm sure the acting was pretty bad in most of these shows, but My Brother and Me had the worst acting I've ever seen. The only thing notable about that show was the "Goo Punch" song.

Nick Rewind will not replace Nick GAS. The replacement for Nick GAS will instead be The N, due to the fact that Viacom wanted Noggin to be a 24-hour channel again, but the growing popularity of The N mandated that The N become 24/7 too, & that led to Viacom placing The N as Nick GAS' replacement.

The only classic Nick show currently on The N is Caitlin's Way (It was a really good show even though it originally aired around 2000!)

J.A.P.I'm not sure when we got Nickelodeon. I remember Double Dare from the 80's, although that could've been the syndicated version that played on network TV.

Regarding my opinion of the worst Nickelodeon show, I couldn't say. I'm the type of guy if something doesn't interest me then I don't watch it. So it's unfair for me to say what's the worst show. To be honest, if it weren't for Avatar, Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron, I wouldn't even watch Nick.
