History:

Tony Jackson grew up on the streets of Watts where he constantly stayed in trouble. Seeking to save her son from a life of crime Aliyah Jackson sought out long time friend Bill Foster for assistance. Foster convinced the young man to join the Army to turn his life around. Jackson took Foster advice but joined the Marines instead.

Upon graduation from MSG school, he was assigned to the U.S. embassy in Paris, France. It was in France where Jackson saved Senator Robert Kelly life after he was attacked by Batroc the Leaper and Zaran the Weapons Master. Jackson was able to single handily stop the two would be assassin, which caught the attention of Executive directors of SHIELD Nick Fury. Fury impressed with Jackson abilites offered him a commission with SHIELD.

Disappointed with his SHIELD career Jackson thought he final got a break when he was assigned a post at SHIELD Savage Land Out post which was under the command of Yelena Belova the Black Widow. But when the Avengers showed up at the outpost he and the other SHIELD agents were order to attack them. Suddenly Jackson found himself trapped under a pile of Vibranium, Jackson was then struck by a blast from the SHIELD Helicarrier.

Jackson awoke three weeks later in a SHIELD hospital where he discover that the blast and Vibranium had some how giving him the power of Energy transmittance.

2G has the ability to transfer kinetic energy into objects. However, unlike Gambit, who turns them into explosives when he does this, 2G merely launches them as projectiles, essentially turning his body into a living gun that can use any inanimate object as ammunition.

Miscellaneous Info:
Chen was born in Hong Kong and lived there until he was twelve. During the Asian business boom of the 90's, the company his father worked for expanded overseas, and his family moved to San Francisco to work at the newly established premises stateside. His powers manifested under mysterious circumstances, and Chen may actually be a mutate without knowing it. He assumed he was a mutant until M-Day, when he waited to be contacted by the X-Men or O*N*E* and never was. He now thinks his powers came to him through other means, and is curious to find out why.

When the Superhuman Registration Act hit, Chen was reluctant to sign up, and entertained the notion of seeking out Captain America's resistance. However, he realized he didn't want to spend the rest of his life on the run, and so grudgingly registered himself not just as a Superhuman, but also to be considered for the 50 State Initiative.

In the persona he created for himself as "The Second Gunman" (a reference to the JFK assassination conspiracy), Chen favors the use of bullets as his projectiles (though he has been known to use anything at hand, from shards of glass to spare change), making him a literal gunman. He lacks a costume, instead just wearing his street clothes, as he hasn't committed himself to a life of superheroics. The government will probably provide him with one, he figures, so why bother with making one himself?

Chen's greatest admiration is for the X-Men. Though he knows he isn't a mutant now, he can't change much about the way he thinks of them after years of thinking he was one.



The above is a character I created for a mini series that I've written. Obviously the background has been changed to fit into the MU, but the power, etc, are all mine.

why a prehensile tongue? and why would he need to increase his bone density if he can heal himself? i ask because you also say that he can't be stunned. seems almost too powerful; especially with psychokinesis. btw, couldn't he just shield his own body with psychokinesis? but that's just my opinion on it. still a good character.

Powers: Duet can split herself into two seperate beings. One of these beings possesses super-human strength and durability. Under extreme stress, this form has the potential to project destructive force blasts from her hands and eyes, but she can not consciously activate this ability.The other form has super-human intellect as well as enhanced agility and speed. Much like her physically strong counterpart, when placed under extreme stress, she can generate destructive telekinetic bursts, which are uncontrollable at this point. The two bodies share a telepathic link. If they are brought together with too much force, they will remerge.

Promise, a struggling sophmore in college from a middle class background, agreed to participate in a medical study to bring in some cash. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the study was involved with Hydra, who were toying with a twisted experiment involving twins. Promise went missing for weeks, as she was used as a test subject, eventually to the point in which she split into distinct bodies. Although disturbed by this turn of events, she managed to use her bodies' strength and intellect to escape from captivity and resume something that resembled her life beforehand. While back in college, Promise halted an attempted rape of a friend in her hall using her powers and eventually assumed a costumed identity using her abilities to stop crimes on campus and in other parts of her community. Although she questions the registration act, she signed up anyway, because she feels she should do something in life, especially since she has yet to declare a major.

Powers: able to pinpoint the weakpoints in any person or object and then guide his weapons to that point. He can also control the amount of damage done. At its most extreme, the damage he can cause can break bones and burst doors off their hinges. however, the more powerful the amount of damage, the longer the need for CS to rest and recharge. Most of the time he regulates his powers so that an opponnet will be rendered unconcious or the damage done to an object will be minimal.



Origin: The man known as Cowboy Samurai is unsure of how exactly he gained his powers. He purchased a wooden sword called the Soul Releasing Wind and began to use in meditation. One day while holding it he was accosted by a petty thug looking to rob him. He didn't have money on him and tried to talk his way out of the situation. The crook wouldn't hear it and tried attack. Eduardo defended himself using the sword and soon found himself thinking about the left side of his opponent's torso. On instinct he dove and drove the sword into the man's side. The crook went down. Later police found out the man had a previos injury on his left side caused by a gunshot wound.

Much later, Eduardo held the sword again as he was looking at a huge block of ice. Once again guided by instinct, he brought the sword down on the ice and broke to pieces. Convinced he had taped into some strange power, he decided to become a super-hero. Having a love of both Eastern culture and the image of a cowboy wandering the land helping others, he put the two thing together and named himself Cowboy Samurai.

For months he thought his powers came from the sword but during a battle with some gang members he lost the sword and instead was holding a broom handle. His powers kicked in and he was able to win the battle. Since then he added a smaller sword and a small dagger to his arsenal. He was also given a pistol made to look like an old flintlock pistol but could fire special nonlethal ammo.


Ethnicity: Hispanic. may also be related by blood to the Templars

Medical History: Cowboy Samurai has no Depth Persception and must wear glasses or contacts to correct the problem. As of late he wears contacts. In addition, repeated use of his powers over a short period of time can cause him to suffer mild to severe headaches. Usually he must then rest for a period from as little as five minutes to as long as twelve hours.

Weapons: Cowboy Samurai's main weapon is a wooden sword called the Soul Releasing Wind. Despite its construction, the sword can apparently strike objects made of tougher materials and still not chip or break. He also carries a smaller wooden sword called April's Sun and a dagger called the Teardrop. Both seem to also share Soul Releasing Wind's properties despite being found in a different location. It has been theorized that somehow being in contact with Cowboy Samurai's body has given the objects their invunerability.

His most recent addition to his arsenal is a gun made to look like a flintlock pistol. It can fire non-lethal ammo, either rubber bullets or wood. Usuallt the pistol is a one-shot but he has been experimenting with creating some sort of scattershot ammo. the results have been interesting and he is hoping to perfect the idea. His power can work to aim the gun despite the lack of phycial contact by the gun itself.

Limitations: In addition to the medical conditions noted above, Cowboy Samurai has been observe dto have a rebelous streak when dealing with certain types of authority. He seems to have no trouble speaking his mind over anything he percieves to be a failing by anyone in a command position whether he is correct or not. He is capable of apologizing and falling into line after realizing he has made a mistake but it will take some time before he comes to such a conclusion.

At the start of his career, Cowboy Samurai could not tell how damage a sword strike would do and would on occassion deliver crippling or killing blows or damage objects more severly than intended. He has since trained himself to recoginze how damage a potential strike or hit can cause.

I recall describing this character a while back in some other invent-a-hero/power/whatever thread, but I keep thinking it'd be cool to do something with her, and working out little bits and pieces of her character and abilities, so here she is (again):

Background: Antonia ('Toni') is a projective empath whose talent focuses on belief - anything she says, those around her will be compelled to believe. This ability first manifested, in a limited fashion, on the onset of puberty, and Toni initially employed it in the typical self-serving manner of untrained teenagers manifesting powers. The seriousness of her situation only became apparent to her when, in an emotional outburst over a trivial matter, she told a friend he was 'worthless', accidentally imparting such a severe lack of self-worth that he immediately threw himself in front of a bus. Since then Toni has shown considerably more care in the use of her ability, though as her powers have increased she has accidentally committed other breaches, fortunately none fatal. She has admitted her decision to register was motivated primarily by the hope that, with training and research, her powers can be wholly controlled, and thus prevented from harming anyone.

Powers and limitations: Toni's gift has steadily increased in its effectiveness since its onset. According to her background interviews (conducted under psychic supervision), her talent first required concentration on her part, and functioned intermittently. As she practised it became easier for her to project belief, but it wasn't until the fatal accident that she realised the extent to which her power had grown beyond her control. At present, any verbal statement she makes invokes her power; as a defensive measure, Toni has taken to speaking in a deliberately non-specific manner, avoiding direct statements, and communicating largely through rhetorical questions which, it seems, do not trigger her power. She did attempt to learn sign language, but discovered that as her fluency increased, her powers began to manifest themselves as they would if she spoke aloud.

The effectiveness of Toni's ability varies with circumstances - a strong non-psychic concentrating hard can resist a 'casual' statement from Toni. The obvious validity of her statements plays a part in determining her effectiveness too - a blatant lie will be easier to resist that a statement which appears to be true, or at least is not directly contradicted by anything the target knows. Applicable psychic defences can be used against her in the usual manner. Toni's ability to defeat such defences, psychic or otherwise, increases with her motivation to enforce her will on the target, and a large part of this remains subconscious.

Operations: Toni is obviously suited to espionage, though her inability (and to an extent unwillingness) to exert the full measure of her power in circumstances in which she is personally unmotivated leaves her vulnerable to psychic or other countermeasures. Her fighting skills are adequate and will no doubt improve with training, and her ability to use psychic suggestions to confuse and distract opponents in combat has been demonstrated to be a powerful asset in many training situations. Her main weakness is her dislike of her own powers, based on her experiences - this retards her progress in strengthening her ability to penetrate psychic blocks, and to influence greater numbers of targets and apply stronger beliefs to them. Her power continues to steadily strengthen regardless, so perhaps it is just as well she doesn't push herself - the potential damage she could do is considerable.

Powers: A stud earing, that when pressed sends a tachyon pulse ten seconds into the past that re-writes his short term memory with what he remembers of the next ten seconds, effectively taking him back ten seconds.
The stud takes ten seconds to recharge after a memory re-write, so he can't go back further than 10 seconds. If he dies, the stud goes off, sending him 10 seconds to before he died with the memory of his death. This is traumatic for him.

Other than that he is an ordinary human being who is fairly fit.

Max received a visit from people from an alternate dystopian future. Is there any other kind?.

They have claimed that Max is the first person born with a specific type of memory, that allows their technology to re-write his short term memory, ten seconds in the past with what will happen the next ten seconds. In this future, the warriors that have this ability are the last and only line of defense against invading aliens.

They have come back to ensure that he has a long life (thus giving him the stud) and asked that he father as many children as possible, passing on his genes for his short term memory to as many children as possible.

So Max has been travelling, making deposits at sperm banks as is his duty. He tries to get laid as often as possible, but still always ends up using a condom, becuase he can't bring himself to burden a woman with a child she doesn't really want.

Edit: Max doesn't see himself as much of a potential hero, but tries to do the right thing whenever the oportunity arises. Max makes aquaintances easily with his outgoing personality, but once he decides that someone is his friend, he is fiercely loyal, and will do almost anything for them. This may bite him in the ass one day, but it hasn't yet. Max is a mad Rolling Stones fan. He listens to the Stones very often and knows many songs by heart. He occasionally will quote Stones lyrics when appropriate.

He has short hair that is balding prematurely. He is only 21 but his hair looks like 'The Captain' from Nextwave. He tries not to let it bother him, but sometimes it does. Keeping his hair short is a psycological middle ground between showing he doesn't mind and keeping it short so it is not too obvious.

Sometimes it feels a bit weird for him to be donating sperm, but he does it anyway. He can't really talk about it with anyone because people usually laugh when he tries to tell them it is his "duty".

Powers: Seance can contact the spirits of dead metahumans and by taking their soul into her body can use their powers for a limited time. While she contains a soul she has control of her body but can hear the voice and communicate with the deceased. She has the soul of a murderer called the switchblader permanently trapped within her. He had the power to morph his left arm in any bladed object. While the Switchblader is mostly surpressed he can get more of a hold on her if she chooses to use his power.

Costume: Seance has a costume mostly of black leather with a visor the covers the top half of her face. Her left arm is bound tightly to her chest so that the Switchblader can not take controll of it. The bindings have a latch that can be removed if Justice feels she needs to use the blade power.

Origin/History: While performing a seance with her friends, Justice Valentina made contact with the Switchblader, a murderer who had been gunned down in her apartment years before. He possessed her and almost killed one of her friends. After a struggle Justice was able to force the Switchblader away, although she only buried him in her subconcious. After that she learned that she could contact the spirits of othe deceased metahumans and bargain for the loan of their powers.
<Update> Justice doesn't know that her father (Whom she never met) was once known as The Banisher! Edward Valentina once had the power to combat and cast out evil spirits and ghosts. He was eventually killed by minions of Mephisto. Now that Seance is a member of the Initiative and S.H.I.E.L.D. can give her access to files on deceased metahumans to aid in her power, she might be talking to her dearly departed dad sooner or later.

Powers: Can break into two different personas.

Dark has the ability to cloak things (organic and inorganic) in darkness. He can negate or lessen other super human’s powers by physical touch. He has limited super-strength and limited invulnerability.

Light has the ability to concentrate sunlight into energy blasts. He can flash blind enemies as well. He can manifest a hard light shield as well that can deflect most energy based attacks.

Miscellaneous Info:
Both Dark and Light have aspects of Joshua’s personality. The have a limited form of telepathy between each other. They sense what the other is doing and thinking and thus make a formidable pair when in a fight. If they do not re-combine within 1 week of separation, each will begin to weaken until both fade from existence and Joshua will die. However, if either is injured then when re-forming their injuries do not pass on to Joshua. If one dies, then after a week, both Josh and the other would die as well.

Origin: Josh was abused as a kid by his evil uncle (Arnim Zola) and “created” two other personalities to cope. One brooding/angry hot headed violent one (Light – tricked ya didn’t I!) and One who was calm zenlike problem solver personality (Dark). Eventually he was rescued and became a ward of the state. With therapy he became whole again, but when puberty hit, they returned along with his powers.

'Recall' sounds pretty good, although kind of "90's-ish." take your time on deciding. you wouldn't believe the sources i went through just to come up with a power. and the name was the toughest part. i kept coming back to the skrull's dialogue from Marvel Team-Up. it's kind of self-defeating to name yourself after your power. it lets the bad guy know exactly what you can do. so i just went to wiki and looked up the names of death metal bands and historical figures. i was originally going to name my character the 'Countess' after Elizabeth Bathory but thought that it was too on the nose. so i chose 'Duchess' instead. it doesn't really mean anything but, when combined with the character's look, can be sort of creepy. the name's up to you. feel free to stick with Memory. i'd just go with something you could imagine War Machine shouting across a gymnasium.

it's still very cool. my favorite part is the JFK-reference. it gets at what i was saying about naming a character. it doesn't always have to be descriptive. sometimes a codename is only relevant to the person who is using it.

Some of these characters in this thread are definately interesting to read about. I guess it was just your use of the word 'rules' that made me think you were leading into a game. But this is a game too.

i knew you were joking but i wasn't. feel free to steal any of my ideas. i'm all about influencing others. i'm sure as hell not going to work my butt off to get a character published if someone else is willing to. :D

Powers: Can "pause" time around him up to a radius of 50 meters or in a directed area, and up to 15 seconds. Whilst only actually being one power, it gives him the appearance of having many others; short range teleportation, instant reflexes, telekenesis, temporary directed paralysis.

Misc: Leon is a 20 year old English Mutant. His power, like that of many mutants, manifested during his early teens in a time of sheer panic. His baby sister had just leaned out of the 3rd floor window of their family home, and begun to fall. Leon had instantly yelled out and ran the short 15 meters to his sister. when he got there, he realized she was hanging in the air, perfectly paused. This effect lasted for a second or two more, before she began to fall again, now with Leon beneath the window to catch her.

Leon began to experiment with his powers, mostly using them for gain in sports events, only using them when there was minimal chance his skill at games was due to his powers, and cheating in exams. The example set by the X-Men however, began to make Leon use his powers for good, stopping bullies, helping people in situations like that of his younger sister. He learnt to "target" his pauses one day when a robber was getting away with a bag of money from the local superstore.

During the events of M-day, Leon had luckily "paused" his room (during an intimate moment with his girlfriend - he is still a young man after all!), taking it out of sync with the rest of the time-space continuum, thus saving his powers from the Scarlet Witches effects. Realizing that the world had changed for the worse, Leon packed his bags for America to help police this Dark New World as part of their new 50-State Initiative.

howabout, on her chest she has a dull crystal raised circle (like half a sphere) worked into her costume, that glows a ghostly white whenever she is channelling a spirit? Sort of a homage to mediums using crystal balls?

sounds kind of cool; the sphere. maybe it could be removable; like there's actually a globe inside her body. :D

I kinda either imagined him being sent as SHIELD Attache to New Excalibur, in a similar was to USAgent being sent to Omega Flight. Or as a member of an espionage team. If he was sent with the espionage team, I'd personally like to see a book setup kinda old-school, with each issue being a self-contained story line, or maybe with very small, 2-3 issue arcs, that didn't involve "changing the world as they know it!" events every 4 issues.

Weapons/abilities: Wears a pair of goggles and shoes that are top secret weapons from a military base. Has many uses including the following;The shoes allow enchanced human agility,speed,endurance, and able to suction onto any solid surface. The goggles gives the wearer telescopic vision, thermo-heat vision, and able to connect wirelessly to the internet or any other type of electronic network undetectable. Carries a twin pair of magnums, an aerodynamic silver star that returns to its owner, and also has a wristblade hidden under each of his jacket's sleeves for close combat.


Origin:Born in Chicago, Dredrick became a gang member after losing his father, who was a cop, and during his gang banger years he did learn the skills of thievery and a lil bit of martial arts. After a near botch incident at a top secret military base, involving highly classified gear of a pair of goggles and shoes,Dred was forced to abandon his fellow gangbangers when they got caught by security.Not only did he escape but was even able to manage to sneak away the mysterious high tech pair of goggles and shoes. However, despite his efforts to escape, eventually he was brought to justice and had to serve two years in juvie. After that botch, he decided to his life more straighter, finish up his education and go to college. He is now currently going to college for arts in sculpture.
