Next Wednesday, January 31st, is National Gorilla Suit Day, a national holiday created by the great cartoonist Don Martin. Mark Evanier tells us all about it here:

<http://www.povonline.com/National%20Gorilla%20Suit%20Day.htm>:

I'm starting two days early, with ODDBALL COMIC #1,158, JANUARY 29, 2007: January 31st is National Gorilla Suit Day and ODDBALL COMICS is delighted to join the national celebration of all things simian by turning its spotlight on a spectacularly silly issue of BATMAN that introduces Mogo the gorilla, a masked ape-in-a-cape who teams up with the Dynamic Duo to become "The Bat-Ape!" Lemme hear ya say "Ook, ook!"

So what are YOU doing to celebrate National Gorilla Suit Day?

Aloha,

Scott!

Oh, you know, probably something quiet with the family. These holiday's have gotten so commercial lately.

On another note - I'm glad more attention is coming to Don Martin. He was always my favorite MAD artist.

I could swear I used to know someone back in Arkansas who was married to an in-law of an in-law of Martin's, or something like that ... At this late date I can't conjure up a name, though I think there was a Hot Springs connection of some sort.

I will probably buy Helmet of Fate: Detective Chimp and re-read the chapters of The Filth starring Comrade Dmitri-9, the "brainf***ed by cosmic rays" hunter-killer chimp assassin.

If only I'd thought to bring it to the attention of the highers-up here at CAP, probably we'd have gotten the day off. I mean, last month we got "Air Force goals day" off, for chrissakes ...
