I havent collected or read Hulk in a long time. I picked up issues 100 and 101. I see he is on a different planet and I know its cause of the Illuminati/Civil War stuff. It didnt seem to be the smart Banner Hulk from way back (iss 377). So fill me in. Also what has become of Banner. btw- Its pretty sweet!

According to the writer, as he starts off hurt in this arc he isn't as a strong as he normally is. Too make up for this, his body has made him smarter. As he begins to get stronger, he also gets dumber.
In practice though, even though he's got stronger later in the arc he's still as smart. Unless I'm missing subtle hints.

That's not the case. The Hulk was intelligent before this current writer's run began. He had this same personality and level of intelligence during "Tempus Fugit", the recent "Defenders" mini and "House of M" as well.
The Hulk has a lot of different incarnations and even from the character's inception, they constantly changed, which his most stable period being during the late 60s-the early 80s where he was the classic "Hulk Smash"/Savage Hulk personna.
But that was the Hulk's original personality. The Hulk incarnation he is in now was brought back during Peter David's last run and has appeared many times before, the first being in the early 60s when he helped found the Avengers.
This Hulk, nicknamed the "Grayvage Hulk" by fans, has the strength of the Savage Hulk, the cunning and regular intelligence of the Grey Hulk and a certain brutish independence.
This version of the character is older than the one that most comic fans mistakenly believe is the original classic Hulk.
His strength and intelligence are not counter balances and they do chance from incarnation to incarnation. The Professor/Merged Hulk of the early-mid 90s is easily his most intelligent personna, but also one of his physically most powerful.
As for Banner, the Hulk has managed to suppress his personality, which was briefly able to assert control in Giant Size Hulk #1, but was quickly pushed back to the side. Just as in the past at many times, Banner was able to do the Hulk as well though with much less success.
Why can't Hulk be smart? Hulk can be smart if Hulk wants to be! You don't own Hulk! Hulk is Hulk's own Hulk!

I looked it up. You are correct, sir.
Damn... I wish I could find the interview to find what quote got me confused. I'm sure it was a newsarma interview, I've looked over every interview about Planet Hulk elsewhere.
