there have been many times iceman was supposed to have a upgrade
but it doesn't really seem to happen
here is someone who can lower temp at will
i don't know his limit but if he can reach absoloute zero, the point at which molecules stop vibrating
that should mean his prescence and not just touch should be lethal
considering that he uses his power mainly in conjunction with water, he should be in his element on a planet mostly covered in water
i know iceman's mentality has alot to do with his develpment but i always feel he can do more
in another thread there was question the hulk surviving being thrown into the sun, could iceman at his peak?

1. There's a question thread stickied at the top of the forum for stuff like this.

I don't exactly get your point. You seem to even want him to kill people with his icey touch. He's a hero, they don't do that. Also, characters have to have some weakness or flaws to their powers. That's what makes them interesting. If you have nothing but Superman level characters, they become dull and boring. And no, as Iceman still needs to breathe. Throwing him into space would kill him. Throwing him into the sun, doubly so.

Iceman has not shown the ability to freeze things to absolute zero, even after his powers when increased in Asgard.

To answer the question ... I'd say see AGE of APOCALYPSE ICEMAN I think in the AoA he was at his best ... now whether he can do more than that remains to be seen but we'll have to wait and see

thanks, now i know better re posting
it' s not that i think he should be a villain,
my point is we are shown how magneto can utilise his powers in such a wide ranging way, iceman's powers have such potential in terms of what he can do, during onslaught he was able to detect a hidden onslaught due to heat signatures in the room.
the othe rthing being about him being able to compose himself out of ice and reform after being blasted to peices,
has it even been explored as to how much mass he can really accumalate, ie ice berg or glacier level, he could build himself a a residence, unlike magneto and metallic substacnes he seems to be able to generate ice itself
or am i wrong and he needs the moisture to do it?

You know I just had to inject my two sense in this thread... (Beast).

As far as his powers go, I've often wondered how far a writer could be creative with ice/water/vapour myself. Not so much on a villainous scale, but utilizing the science behind his extent of kryokenisis, or hydrokenisis, and where it can be applied in the natural (comic) world.

For example, what could be done with him if Apocalypse turned him into a Horseman, or if Galactus converted him into a herald.... There's only so far you can go with hydro and cryo elements.

As for needing oxygen to survive, I'm on the fence with this one. "The Draco" proved that he could exist as a part from a whole, yet he didn't have lungs to breathe to stay alive. In UXM #314 (the "Emma Frost" issue), he/she traveled underwater for a lengthy amount of time, covering a great distance. Although it could have been done off panel, there was no indication that his powers were limited by not breathing. In the same issue, he/she was shot a point blank range in the chest, and survived. In Carey's first arc he was knocked down a peg or two, by giving him physical consequences for not being in his solidified form, when Mystique revived him, and later had to be quarantined into Beast's liquid hydrogen chamber. This was later debunked when he was evaporated and absorbed by Fuego for a brief period... Assuming he couldn't breathe being inside another individual. Soon after, he showed no signs of physical fatigue from lack of breathing.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him a God, or even an Omega Class Mutant, but because of the personal limitations writers have bestowed on him over the years, it leaves him grounded as a human being... That is, unless Jeff Parker can get a hold of him :).

Iceman, I believe, is an Omega class mutant and therefore is one of the peaks of mutant evolution.

And like someone said before, AoA iceman was a bada$$, he was stomped on and basically killed, but his body was able to gather enough moisture in the air to reassemble itself. So he was basically indestructible.

But I still feel that he can go even further, I mean he made his own country in Earth-X [i believe]. So I think that if Iceman pushed himself far enough he could probably freeze everything...if he wanted.

But I think the furthest he will ever go is what happened in AoA [total control of moisture, ice powers, able to reassemble self, make self almost like water, etc.]
