Need to update my Ultimate X-Men.

I havent read Ultimate XM since the end of the New Mutants arc. I would like to bring myself up to date, since the Cable arc has ended ( I think).

Can you suggest some trades are worth picking up. Ones with good story development and art. Ive heard that some recent arcs have been bad, so I'd like to stay away from those.

Yeah, do yourself a favor and avoid anything with Kirkman's name on it.

Get Vaughan's run though. BKV did some great stuff on the title.

But yeah, Kirkman is delivering either a 'Love It' or 'Hate It job right now. No in between.

Whats wrong with Kirkmans recent work? I love his Walking Dead stuff.

But his stuff is either new and fun or it'll make American Idol seem like top-notch entertainment.

The problem there is Magnetic North is the last storyline from BKV.

Best to pick up where you left off.

Why on earth would you want to do that? Brian K. Vaughan's run is fantastic (I believe his work to be the best run of the whole series), and Magnetic North is the climax of his whole run (Bringing together all of the plot threads from his previous arc and tying them together in an action packed finale).

Start where you left off (After New Mutants) and get all of the trades after that (Or, the fifth and sixth hardcover editions) up through Magnetic North.

Then, if you really want to, you can try out Kirkman's run, but I wouldn't recommend it. And yes, I love Walking Dead and Invincible as much as the next guy, but his UXM has been truly awful.
