Bingo. Hulk plays no part in Civil War. He's off in space.

That's right. Before Civil War began, The Illuminati met to decide what should be done with The Hulk.

Xavier was MIA at the time but the other members voted.

Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Dr. Strange and Black Bolt voted to exile The Hulk to an alien world.

Only Namor was against the idea.

So they sent a Nick Fury LMD (an android that looks like Nick Fury) to ask Bruce Banner for help with a dangerous terrorist satellite. Hulk agrees to help and learns it is really a SHIELD satellite. After destroying the satellite, Hulk gets on the spaceship that is supposed to take him home but is instead blasted into space.

A video apology is made by The Illuminati and Hulk starts to trash the ship. After traveling through a portal that depowers him, Hulk lands on the fictional world of Sakaar and the story takes place from his time as he conquers the planet and regains his strength along the way.

That was Planet Hulk. Because he was off-world, Hulk did not have a role in Civil War. Hulk is set to return to Earth in this summer's World War Hulk.

Here's a WWH poster.

Planet Hulk/World War Hulk was originally supposed to be their big event...Civil War put that somewhat on the shelf and now will ne after Civil War and Silent War
