Why do DC’s action figures rock and Marvel's suck?

I mean really, what is going on here?

I have liked one action figure by Marvel, the Hobgoblin, and he can't even stand up. While DC has well made figures of character's I could give a rat’s ass about, but I would rather buy because they're so well made and look great.

'Cause you like the latter and don't like the former?

I mean, I'm with you in digging DC's JLU line and not really caring for Marvel Legends, but it's just a matter of personal preference.

I stopped buying figures a long time ago...

But if you're going to tell me this:

is inferior to this:

Then we may have to have words.

I would love to see a Macfarlane take on classic Marvel and DC heroes. It will probably never happen, given Todd's history, but I'd like to see it all the same.

Is it just me, or is that helmet entirely the wrong shape?

The new Marvel figures from Hasbro are starting to come out. The look, packaging, everything has been upgraded. It's really good stuff. Plus they did the "Galactic Heroes" treatment to your favorite Marvel heroes!

I just got the Colossus / Angel pack and the Captain America / Hawkeye pack. If they do a nightcrawler, I am getting him no matter who he is packed with.

You don't need to get Todd, just the sculptors he uses.

Hopefully, you'd be able to stand them, unlike most Macfarlane figures.

The helmet's a bit off, but that photo doesn't do that particular figure justice. The latter waves of Marvel Legends (the build-a-figure waves) have all been spectacular, with even the lamest characters coming out looking good, and making tough figures with oodles of articulation. The MODOK build-a-figure, when completed, looks absolutely amazing.

Easy solution is to mount them on a scenic base like Macfarlane's LOST figures. You'd loose the articulation, but it's a price I'd be willing to pay.

DCs figures arent sold in stores like Target and stuff. Marvels are and I would disagree that they suck. Alot of the Marvel Legends were very nice looking figures. I havent seen the new Marvel Legends in person but they look alright from what I have seen.

The new Marvel Legends, done by Hasbro, ended up looking a lot better than the promo pics would've led you to believe. A friend of mine got the first set with the Annihilus B-A-F, and he said they turned out really cool, for the most part. White Queen was kinda assy, but the Annihilus totally rocks.

How are they at freestanding? I like displaying my stuff.

Some of the wispier figures you have to cajole a little bit to get them in a stable pose, but most of the Legends figures are pretty much rock-solid. They'll stay in almost any pose you put them in.

It really depends on the figure. I dont have too many figures just characters I like. Almost all the ones I have stand on their own. My Justice Hawkman is impossible to get to stand they made the wings way to heavy so the weight is to heavy back there.

Well, it's harder making an accurate game when every single one of your characters has more power than an entire military branch and is still expected to fight bank robbers.

The Capcom Marvel games were far from accurate, but you're a heartless soul if you don't have fun with them. :)

I think the more accurate version of this would be "Why do some Marvel games rock while most DC games suck." Because there is the occasional good DC game, like Batman on Genesis, while there are definitely some Marvel crappers. Remember those X-Men fighting games from Activision? Or Marvel Nemesis?

I think there is a Nightcrawler. I remember seeing pics from the Toy Convention. I'm pretty damn sure he's there and freaking adorable.

I remember seeing a classic Namor and Johnny Storm "The Human Torch" and in their individual packaging the water element for Namor and the fire element for Johnny were from the same mould. Cheap bastards.

The DC Direct stuff has really gone downhill. I really liked the facial sculpting on the early figures. The fact that the Golden Age figures (Jay Garrick, Carter Hall, Alan Scott) had such distinctive 40's faces, and the early Legion figures had such great 50's/early 60's teen movie faces.
They looked like they were based on real people, not just generic 'hero' faces.
The more recent stuff looks godawful.

When was the last critically lauded DC video game released?

On a related note: I'm quite surprised that I was able to purchase both the Supergirl and Power Girl Women of DC busts without my wife giving me shit.

EDIT: I jinxed myself with this post.

It's been a while. But you said always, and Batman on Genesis rocked!
