Phillip Tan will no longer be pencilling Spawn after issue 166
Brian Haberlin will take over as the artist, while Phillip Tan does the pencils for the new soon to be launched "Spawn : GodSlayer" monthly comic series :O

I dont know if you purchased God Slayer but it was fantastic! and they are making a series now! lol So I personally cannot wait for it. Also Brian's work is looking really good imo.

Here is a brief description of God Slayer for those who missed the mini-trade back.
SPAWN: GODSLAYER
A dramatic re-imagining of Todd McFarlane's Spawn. Godslayer is a sweeping tale of fallen kingdoms, ancient curses and doomed love. Spawn: Godslayer is sure to appeal to fans of epic fantasy. Here is a brief synopsis of this new and imaginative story brought to you by the talented Brian Holguin (Spawn) and Jay Anacleto (Aria, Marvels Two). In a far distant age of a world not our own, the Old Gods are dying, slaughtered one by one by the dark blade of a mysterious, unearthly marauder... Under the protection of the goddess Llyra, the island kingdom of Endra-La, oldest and most storied of the Shrouded Isles, has avoided the cruel fate suffered by lesser kingdoms. But on the eve of a royal wedding, black sails are spotted on the horizon. Alarms are sounded and fire fills the skies. The Godslayer has come for them at last.

Here are Haberlins new pencils for Spawn and might I say they look bloody magnificent and above all the book is taking a slight turn in a different direction, Spawn will now be a Noir/Horror book, and less so a "Hero in a cape" book, what TMF has wanted the book to be from the very start. It will keep in continuity of the series and looks extremely promising.

Here is Haberlins work on the main Spawn Title thus far.

I used to really like spawn when I was about 18 but I stopped collecting it when he came back as Al (Just with no shadow), I still keep picking up the odd copy in my local comic shop when it hits the new relese section but I feel it no longer has the draw for me to read it again.

I think they should get Greg Capello doing the art again as his was fantastic.

I really didn't like Godslayer, so I'm not too happy about it becoming an ongoing series.

However, the new tone for Spawn sounds really good. Hopefully they take the good aspects of the Sam and Twitch series, and implement it in some way to the regular Spawn series.
