More precisely why do we care?
Like Sienna Miller... um.. why? So she dated Jude Law which for me is another uh... okay? moment.
I watching one of those top 25 sexiest red carpet starlets things and they mentioned Sienna Miller and while I love listening to Debra Wilson describe how "hot" these ladies are, I'm like.. why is Sienna Miller even on that list? Does anyone know who she is other than being once Jude Law's fiancee? Or more like she's hot and sexy because she dated him? Hey, you can be hot and sexy too if you date Jude Law! There are more beautiful people that bring a lot more to the table than her. This isn't a hate on against her but there's no reason why she should be on a hot list with people like Sophia Loren, Angelina Jolie and Kiera Knightley.
There's no need to mention Paris and Nicole and Lindsay because we all know why people talk about them.
Do we know who some of these creatures are just because we are told to know who they are?

Donald Trump's supermodel wife.

Ben Affleck.
I'm referring to the tabloid clamoring over the past two years or so for "ooh, when is he going to make his big comeback?" because of all the writing they got to do about his personal life back when he was "hot." News flash: no one cares. Quit hyping someone who's not newsworthy just because you miss him and give some attention to people with actual talent instead.
Agreed on Trump's missus. And I'll add anyone who tries to market being a cast member on a season of a reality show into a full-time legit acting career after the show's over, as well.

I don't dislike Sienna Miller, I dislike the hype about her.
The "media" only love her because she dated Jude Law when "NannyGate" occured. The first that's talked about with her is Jude Law. Nothing else is ever mentioned unless it's in passing.

David Beckham. He has been (and will continue to be) in US Weekly and People more than he'll ever be in Sports Illustrated. But he must have one hell of an agent, he's probably getting paid more than the whole MLS is worth.
There is some awards buzz around Sienna's latest role, so maybe she will overcome the shadow of Jude and his nanny-boffing ways.
Why is Omarosa from The Apprentice still around?
Pete Doherty seems to get a lot of coverage in North American entertainment news despite 99% of North Americans having no idea who he is.
I swear! It'd be one thing if anyone her even knew who he or his band was. First time I saw him on a magazine, I thought, "Why's this ugly retarded woman on the cover?"
Paris Hilton
Nicole Richie
These two things are known for simply being more rich than God. Where's the real reason for their celebrity? Oh, they have none. As I predicted, Hilton's flirtation with music is now gone as her first & only album bombed. Richie is fighting her own self-hatred with eating disorders & drugs.

She's a "celebrity". The tabloids made are a bit of a celeb because what Jude law did to her. She gained noterity when Jude cheated on her and the taboids milked it to the point she became a celeb in the tabloid world. Lots of people know her because of that. Is she petty/sexy? Sure, she's just as pretty as plenty of the other celebrities we get told over and over are sexy until it seems to be accepted as fact. In my opinion most of the people who end up on those "sexiest" lists should be on them.
All of this stuff centers around the fact that the tabloids, mags, and tv shows need to sell copies and get viewers and the only way they to do that is manufacture "celebs" to report on when the real ones don't have much going on.
As far as those "Sexiest", "Hottest" "Best" lists go, it's all based on who has the most "heat" at the moment. Nothing to do with actual looks. Remember a few years ago when J-Lo would always end up on the top of every list because it was supposedly big news about her and Ben Affleck dating? Now the press hardly cares about J-Lo and she hardly ever makes those lists or isn't at the top even though she looks the same as she did then.

Celebrities' offspring should stop being glamourized by the media. Especially those with weird first names (Apple, Kal-El, etc.)

Some people are really nice AND talented, and I enjoy seeing them do well, then others leave me entirely perplexed.
Given the horror stories I've heard about, and my experience in proximity to Julia Roberts, I"m amazed that people want to be near, hear about, or have anything to do with her.

A majority of our knowledge about celebs' wrongdoings wouldn't even be known to us if the tabloids didn't constantly shove em down our throats. And as far as I'm concerned, the E! Channel is the devil. The Devil!

Is that Steve Irwin The Crocidle Hunter's daughter? What's going on with her?
I mean she's only somewhere between 5-9yrs old at them most?
The only that I have worried about for both of the Irwin children is if they try to follow in thier fathers' footsteps. I mean it'd be great if they wanted to protect the enviroment like he did but at the same time they'd have to do it in another way. Steve Irwin took alot of incredible risks throughtout his life and while he was usually able to come out on top, I feel that it'd be impossible for anyone even his children to pocess the skills and luck that he did.

To prove Donald Trump isn't just a complete idiot, he makes stars of complete idiots as well.

Nicole Richie's fame is just like Paris Hilton's fame. Which is nothing. They are two spoiled rich kids with too much time & money. That's it.

Celebrities need the tabloids. And the tabloids need the celebrities. Both of them are culpable. Sure, when the celebs' star is on the rise or have made it, they bash the tabloids. But, when the celebs star is on the decline or ignored, they pracitically beg the tabloids to cover them via their publicists.
Celebrities are a skanky, dirty type of person who constantly want the spotlight even when it's negative.

Um.. ya?
But it's the why they have heat.. most of the media is told they are the hot shit before the "celebs" have done anything. People all OH MY GOD! when their show hasn't been on the air.
The "heat" they have all have to do with the scandals the tabloids cover much more so than their talent or box office drawing power. People like Ashton Kutcher, Ben Affleck, Jude Law, The Olson Twins, Anna Nicole Smith, etc., etc., a year or so ago (and still today) were all over the tabloid press and tabloid tv shows and were popular because of that type of coverage. But when it came time to put them in a movie or tv project that type of popularity meant nothing in terms of geting people to support/see their work. They're celebrities. They are fairly well known. But that popularity doesn't really translate into anything useful for them or help their careers.
And then there are those who must be great talents or stars because they tell us they are. Jude Law for example...I know of him mostly from the tabloids. They keep telling me how great he is. Is he? I don't see anything that special. They keep telling me how wonderful, special and beautiful Jennifer Aniston is but I have no idea what they're talking about. Drew Barrymore is supposedly a treasure that we're lucky to have around and just look at her and go "Huh?".Teri Hatcher is this incredibly sexy and smart woman and is just so delightful according to what they're feeding me and yet for the life of me I don't get it.
I could go on but you get the point...I'm not saying these people are talentless but it's just strange how they pick certain celebs to be the "hot" thing of the moment.

Maybe I'm too organic in my thinking but... okay?
I was trying to come up with an interesting title in order to get people to read and then only had a few minutes to get out the jist I was trying to say while inspiration hit me.
It's the forget that they are actor or whatever their "job" is, heck, half the time you don't know what it is that they do sometimes for years but they are "it". Just to go back to Sienna Miller. No one really cares that she's an actress minus that she was in "Alfie" with Jude Law. She's made out to be this uber huge deal when what she should be known for is inseconsequential(sic?) to she schtooped Jude Law for a while.

He's a darling of the indie film circuit. That's like being a tabloid celeb, but with the illusion of legitimacy.
(For the record, I think Macy's a good actor.)

Well he was The Shoveller - everyone's favourite Superhero!
Teri Hatcher is this incredibly sexy and smart woman and is just so delightful according to what they're feeding me and yet for the life of me I don't get it.
Terry Hatcher is a media darling because of the success of Desperate Housewives. Before this show, her star had fallen dramatically being in Target Commercials (?) & guest starring roles for various films & television shows.
Once Desperate Housewives cools off, Hatcher's star luster will fade unless she finds another successful movie or show.

In all fairness. I dislike most celebrities...
Personally, I remember the days when people were famous for actually doing stuff like climbing mountains, running quickly, having a beautiful voice and god given rhythmn etc.
As opposed to looking pretty, and sleeping with other so-called 'beautiful' people.
I'm appalled how celebrities are known & even exalted for their bad behavior! The media seems to be going for the lowest common denominator then exploiting it 100 fold.
