The story starts out with Xavin pulling some surprise sexual role playing as Nico for Karolina. This all create discord when Karolina thinks it's the real Nico and the whole things puts into a moral quandary. The little Skrull is going through an identity crisis.

Next up, Chase and Nico decide to chat before the final curtain only to reveal that Chase intends to star in the farewell scene and plans to off himself.

Finally Bruiser has to get her air time in and sits in front of a portrait of Gret. After a funny line about Blue's Clues, Molly starts getting some inside tips from an unknown source. (maybe ghost Gret)

Back to the bondage section with Chase and Nico, Guess what. Being a genius doesn't make you a good father or mother. Plus Chase is pathological. After a much need after school special discussion; Non-Emo, Full time male, and Runaway Victor appears. Five minutes later Victor short circuits on a paradoxical question. Turns out Chase grabbed Nico to give her a game guide on how to best Victor.

Finally all the Runaways make a mad dash to save Chase. Of course Karolina out of juice, Nico's wandless, and Victor's in sleep mode. Hadn't stop them before so why now. The whole issue ends with two policemen who comment on calling in the big guns.

*end*

So anybody think the Loners are getting a cameo in next issue?

Well, it WAS a good issue, definitely... but I'm thinking maybe you meant to post this on the Marvel board, not the X-Board.
;)

I hope so. I'd rather see them than SHIELD or some of Tony's pro-regs.

Yep! This is was good! Man, next issue is BKV/Alphona's last... that's so sad.

And they BETTER not kill anyone... 'cept Xavin. He/She/It can go.
Xavin for Gert! :p

So, who was Molly talkin' to, do we think?

And, um, yeah. Wrong Board...

I LOVE having Runaways on the X-Boards. Best of both worlds. :D

I'm really enjoying this book again, I can't believe Chase! I'm with him though, I really want Gert back!!

Neat idea!Maybe Molly has some form of telepathy, given both her parents were telepaths? We still don't know exactly how her powers work, after all, and Old Lace's thoughts are probably a little easier for someone to pick up than anyone else's.

That would be cool. Molly really should be a powerful mutant. And it makes perfect sense now that you reminded me that her parents were telepaths.

Or maybe it's her hat???

This issue was AMAZING! Also, Alphona and inker + Strain colorist made this issue AMAZING. SPECTACULAR!

First page was uber creepy! Very crazy dream symbolism going on, I think. Also, the second parent-themed nightmare, right? I wonder if that's a theme. Loooooved Karolina's planet being all swirly version of Earth.

I like how Alphona kind of drew Xavin-Nico a little off than usual Nico; not just style but her mannerisms and face, too. Just a little but enough to see that it's not her.

Leather man Chase is kind of cool looking. I love Old Lace, too. Amazing colors on her body, I don't know how Christina does it. She's easily my favorite colorist, ABOVE D'Armata and Hollowell. Easily. Nico's bloody nose, shadows on the venetian blinds, and glowing chains were all amazing. Also, the extreme angle shots of this issue was cool! Like Battlefield Earth, lolol.

"Not you, boss. I'm gonna sacrifice myself."

AMAZING. Man oh man, Joss has quite the shoes to fill up.

This is my favorite book EVER. Doop dall, PHUNKY PHUNKY CHICKEN cereal, hahaha, and amazing hat on Molly! This one is my FAVORITE ONE YET! :3 Lolol. Also, the clothes are very realistic and natural looking. These kids look like kids, and I love it.

Gert in Molly's head?! BUH WHA? OMG OMG OMG!!! Maybe it's not who we think it is but omg omg omg this is so cool!

Chase is teh psychooooo. I'm scared and I kind of feel bad.

Cool Victor moment! I like him a lot. Lol I thought Nico whispering is funny, and it disappears later in the issue too. Not everything needs to be a hint at a future plot or Chekov's gun.

Lol at OWNING Vic, that's funny.

"HURRIES!" Lolol! Amazing. I have this god awful feeling Molly's going to die. Would BKV do it?

Cool colors, again. Everyone just looks perfect. Cool seeing all the outfits not beign typical teenager stuff, and funny seeing the huge Thing-like hands on Xavin. I also love the new way he/she (I think I'm going to call Xavin 'she' from now on!) transforms, it's so much cooler than fading.

"one way or the other..."

I DON'T LIKE THAT. STOP IT, Vaughan! ;_;

Girl power! I remember when they fought The Wrecking Crew, it was the first shot I saw of the Runaways and I though it was so cool! An all girl teenage fighting team! But it was cooler with Chase and Vic now but still, this shot is really really cool. Xavin looks cool as a girl! And the Invisible Woman powers are funny.

Big guns? Does that mean Capekillers? I don't know.

Amazing issue, I really really enjoyed it.

Swapping Chase for Gert would be like trading your new X-Box 360 for a sack of wet elephant turds.

Wonderful issue!!!

Molly is the most adorable thing ever. She's more wonderful than a basket full of puppies wearing bows.

Chase rocks. They better stop him before he tries to sacrifice himself. His realization about his past was cool. I really feel for the guy.

I'm super excited for the next issue, but it's sad it'll be BKV's and Adrian's last.

More like her powers are telekinetic in nature, which would explain the superstrength, as well as why she falls asleep after using her strength alot. Molly rocks either way.

Well... If you take a look at Newsarama's Joe Fridays, You'll see what happens to Chase/Gert in the end. As the first cover to Joss's run is posted.

The problem is that there two instances of her being able to treat mystical objects as if they were normal. She pulled off Cloak's... cloak, which he even said that gods had failed to do, and the junior Wrecking Crew member's magic shovel broke on her. Telekinesis shouldn't be able to do that alone. While it functions as superstrength, there's something strange going on with it in the background.

Molly could be one of the strongest...seeing as she has incredible self confidence....strangely she might get weaker as she gets older...her TK powers could wane as she goes through the self concious/ unsure attitude of adolesence and eventual adulthood.

This makes me incredibly angry. Each issue of the arc was getting better and better and I had no idea who was going to bite it, if anyone. First the girl, which I really thought Chase would have done. Then Nico, which made me gasp! Then Chase, which made me double gasp! And then Molly of all people because she's so amazing and it'd be so awful...and now I find out it's none of them. They all survive. Chase rejoins. Xavin sticks around, Molly lives, Victor's okay and stays okay. And Gert is dead means dead.

Like..oh. Okay. As a writer, I'd definitely be mad, and as a fan, I'm almost infuriated. They hold back on covers so many times in solicits, but just because it's Joss Whedon!!0mG!! they have to show the solicit? With the cover? Even the solicit I wouldn't mind. But in all honesty, this is just ridiculous.

And, I love NY but I don't think they should be going back so quickly. Joss said he wants to keep the kids running, okay, but it'd be cool if they gradually made their way to the East Coast again, without Cloak transporting them. Like, actually running. I don't know, let's see what happens about this arc in particular, but...god. I'm very disappointed in this spoiler.

I hope you're wrong Affy, but it is too soon to tell.

I agree though that the move to NY doesn't entice me at all, nor the reasons behind it. I think a gradual move would be best as well. I think one of the worst aspects of a lot of "rogue" groups, like the Runaways and even the X-Men, is that they always have comfort in a stable home after each battle. Being on the go adds a little bit of that spontaneity back.

I hope Whedon doesn't hesitate to use Cloak again though, without killing him.

Yes but at the same time one of the best runs of the last couple of decades...the X-force: Road Trip...was nomadic and it worked great

That is actually what came to mind immediately when we found out they'd go to NY. The Runaways on a road trip across America...or even the world!!

This speculation about Molly's powers is really interresting to me because I remember early on in the series her parents were shocked to discover she was a mutant. They said they had her tested for the x gene and that she was negative. Has this ever been explained? Of course the test results could have been mistaken but I don't think it would be like The Pride to botch a simple genetics test.

(Whedon has said he's picking up threads from early in the series that BKV has forgotten about. The true nature of Molly's powers could be one of them. I love how BKV says he is the worst Runaways fan and doesn't remember any of the details.)
