I've been thinking about the Punisher recently. Don't know why, maybe his appearance in Civil War #6 where he blew away 2 D list villains like he was going to the fridge to get a soda.
Anyway it got me thinking about the Scourge of the Underworld. Now WHY have these two not run into each other! It would seem to me to be a natch that their worlds would cross.
Anyone else want to see Scourge and Punisher ge together to outdo the Bar with no name massacre?
Also, where is scourge during Civil War. Seems to me that before Tony went to someone like Tiger Shark, he'd try to recruit Scourge.

Scourge no longer exists. For one thing, it wasn't one guy, it was an organization, or possibly series of organizations (it gets a little loose at points) run at atlernating points by the Golden Age Angel (that's the main, real one), the Red Skull (either manipulating the Angel's version, or just throwing up Scourge imposters) and Henry Peter Gyrich (although he was being mind controlled.) In any case, except for the latest Scourge, which was a mind controlled Nomad, Scourge was narrow focused on supervillains, which up until now, tended to be outside Castle's scope. Scourge also had a pretty narrow operating window, less than 10 years by our time, and most of that time was spent inactive.

If there's one thing I hate, it's massing killing of characters that creators worked hard to design. It's like slapping them in the face by killing off a character they made in the most ridiculous way, just to "badassify" a certain character(s).
So no, I don't want to see the Punisher turn into that. And he better damn well stay away from my favorite lesser-known villains.

Agreed. It was an excellent story, but even Gruenwald came to regret the Scourge massacres.

I disagree on not killing characters. If a character is outdated and most likely won't be used again, I like the idea of another character killing them to get "over".
Unfortunately, the Scourge storyline should have been huge, but now it's just a footnote.

But he kept doing them! As late as the mid-90s.

That's what I'm hoping for with guys like Goldbug, Stilt Man, Jester and Mad Jack (who was a bunch of people). I think Matt Fraction will have to make some new ones as well but I'm sure there are a crazy amount unused of Spider-Man villains from the Spectacular Spider-Man series of the 90's that could be used as fodder.
