The future is here now. I've been reading lately about the "flat world" (not sure who coined the term, but I like it) and how many computer related devices are combining multiple functions in the same device. This one seems to be a wonderful marriage of ergonomics, asthetic beauty, and ultimately great functionality:

Thomas L. Friedman is a columnist for the NYT and he wrote a book called "The World is Flat" which led to the contemporary meaning and the phrase in the way you intend it.
It is an interesting (though somewhat exclusive) way to look at the way modern communications, and as a result business, politics, economics, pretty much everything, are evolving. Haven't read the book yet, but regardless I have plenty of opinions about it.

Thank you for confirming that. I just finished Thomas' wonderful book not too long ago and loved it. I wasn't sure if he'd coined the term or not though, so thanks for letting me know.
This device (for me at least) seems to embody the flat world sensibility. It may not pick up the kids from school and cook your dinner for you (that's version 2.0), but it does seem to encompass many of the features which currently reside in several separate devices for most of us. Just thought people who weren't aware might like a peek at the future.

Just read that apple is being sued (http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/10/D8MIN5CO0.html) over the name "iphone."
Uuugghh...

Don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure. Should have qualified the post with "I think..."
I mean he didn't come up with the idea. Everyone knows that the earth, like the iphone, is flat. That's just common knowledge. It doesn't take a genius to tell you that.
