View Full Version : Any chance of vertigo doing another first taste/ first offense?

I really liked both of those and was wondering if they were planning on doing another? They've got a lot more books to cover if they do.

I don't know if they'd bother. Almost all the first issues of their big series are available online for free now, and that's probably a better and cheaper way of getting people to sample the books.

I agree with Ryan, but I can see Vertigo releasing a "best moments" type mini-anthology, containing some compelling one-shot issues from series like Fables, Y, Sandman, etc.

Wouldn't a collection with, say, "Ramadan," and a few other tales be great? If nothing else, it might entice people to check out other series, as sometimes the first issues are... well, they either end on cliffhangers, aren't as good in quality as later issues, or both.

That's an interesting idea. I'm not sure how well it would sell, but sales aren't really the objective for this kind of project.

What would be the best stand-alone Vertigo stories?

Sandman - either Three Septembers and a January or Dream of 1,000 Cats (I like Ramadan, but I like these more)

Lucifer #33 (the issue with Z'imet the demon and the shopkeeper)

Preacher #18 (the story about Jesse's father in Vietnam); or maybe the Cassidy one-shot

100 Bullets #27 (the DiMaggio/Monroe story)

Invisibles - the issue about the guard's life flashing before his eyes when he's shot by King Mob. (#12, I think)

There's probably plenty I'm missing.

Yeah, a best of would be a great idea.

Doom Patrol #56( or 53?)
Hellblazer #27
Fables Last Castle
Transmetropolitan #9
Animal Man #5
