View Full Version : Would anyone like to see a comic adaption of Marvel Ultimate Alliance?

As I play through and enjoy MUA I can't help but noticed there seems to be several key heroes that show up all the time during the cut scenes. Captain America, Wolverine, Storm, Spider-man, Thor, and Electra. Then there is Nick Fury as well. Since that's pretty established in the game (starting with Cap, Logan, Spidey, and Thor at the very start of the game), at least at the point I'm at. I've taken to rotating these characters in as well. That would make a pretty interesting Avengers line up as well now that I think about it.
Do you think an adaption with the above characters taking the spotlight, would be possible?
Granted it would have to be outside of 616 continuity due to the events in the game but I think it would be interesting to see. No need for it to be 100% like the game mind you since you can't use more then 4 players at any given time so that alone would change the story if you had that team together or split up into smaller teams doing different things on the same mission in the story.
Do you think it would sell?
Think so due to the names it would star.
Good idea, bad idea? Who would be best to write the adaption?
Or even perhaps a movie or animated mini-series based on it?

I disagree. The story wasn't boring and it was very interesting. But i don't think that they would put the game's story into a comic.

No, because it was BORING AS HELL.Blasphamy! The story was one of the greatest part of the game. It was the perfect comic book story for a video game.
But translating it to an actual comic would indeed be very tricky. Most of the boss encounters would have to be put together since the single villains are most of the time easy to beat for teams. For example in the Helicarrier stage Scorpion, Bullseye, Radioactive man and Winter Soldier would all have to fight the heroes at once for it to be any sort of challange.

It would make a horrible comic book story. The whole "Doom is up to something and he's hired every random villain in the Marvel Universe as a henchman" thing is unbearably lame and nonsensical. Justice League Heroes had a better story, IMO. Although the SHIELD conspiracy subplot in MUA is pretty cool.

I think it would be a waste of time. If you think about it its kind of just a conglomeration of old Marvel tales to begin with. Its basically just like another Infinity Gauntlet or Secret Wars story. I really did like the story in the game though.

I agree. The story worked great for the video game. But as a comic book that has been done to death and is not even a little oringal. Generic story of Heroes band together to stop unbeatable foe #245. They do it at least once a year.
I would like to see them make a movie using the same animation team who did the cut scences for the game. Those were awesome.

Especially Nightcrawler in Doom's castle...that whole scene was just wicked.

The nightcrawler one rocked. I don't think the cgi was all THAT impressive though...
Imagine square enix doing the movie. THAT would be cool.

I agree with the train of thought that while it was fine as a generic plot to guide the action and fill in outsiders on the world of Marvel, it'd stink on ice as a comic. Especially since I already know what happened.
That said, a book where you could randomly team up Captain America, Moon Knight, Dr. Strange and Cable could be interesting, you know? It would probably end up sucking - Secret Defenders, anyone? - but it could be fun.

Not me.
I mean it wasnt bad but it was just a generic video game plot excuse to make a game, it was good enough to build a game on since your fighting and doing things but to just sit and read it? No thank you.
It would certainly have to be tweaked. But it'd made a descent story if they made it less video game-ish and more like a comic book story.

You know, if it is just using the core concept of MUA, all the heroes ever being on one task force, that could actually be interesting.

I hope not... Personally, I'd never buy it... I suspect it'd end up being a shameless cash cow like that Marvel Megamorphs (or whatever they were called) series

I'd hardly call Megamorphs a cash cow. Astonishing X-Men is a cash cow. Megamorphs was a licensing tie-in. And given the sheer wonkiness of the concept, a surprisingly decent one. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't Watchmen, but it had an off-kilter charm to it. And Red Ronin.
