I know I said I'd start this thread last week, but then I took Friday off. Anyway if there's still anyone left for this thread I'll start it up....

Seeing as I meant to start this thread last week I'll assume the next thread will start up on Thursday week (18th Jan) unless people want a bit more time to read the next volume.

I enjoyed this volume. As always I enjoyed the real world superheroey stuff more than the magical tour stuff, but nothing dragged me down like the Tarot issue. The magic stuff is really dense and I think Moore's writing loses a bit of it's subtlety because of it it was kind of like "Now we're in the realm of hate. I hate you". Williams's art was looking particularly good for this volume - particularly in that area with the big fat trippy lines used for the art.

Oh dear - Does this mean the bookclub has died a death or just that people are frantically reading Bok 3 right now?

Dan, between the holidays and having to STILL make trips and catching up on books I've totally slacked. I still want to read this, I just have SOOOO much to read. I think I have right now:

Promethea v3
Wonder Woman V4
2 Gotham Central tpb's
1 Y: The Last Man tpb
4 Golden Age Marvel Masterworks
Two Faces of Tomorrow (600 pgs)
100 Bullets: Decayed
DH Conan tpb's, vol 1-2
Hikaru No Go Vol 7-8

And that's just off the top of my head. I'm not even at home to check what I'm forgetting! And I'm not even gonna talk about the DEFNEDERS run I just completed or the other BLACK GOLIATH run I bought, or the AVENGERS book I have, or the HUMAN FLY run I have, etc... it goes on...

I just have to stop bitching and make time and read this!

Okay then I'll assume the bookclub is still alive, but wait for you two to finish book 3 before scheduling book 4.

Sounds like a plan!

FYI - I know that BotI #16 hasn't shipped yet because it's late, but they are about to solicit for #17! I saw it in the new DH solicits off of the CBR homepage.

I liked this volume alot. The magic "lessons" were still tempered with plot and story elements, so unlike the Tarot issue, they didn't feel like a chore to read.

There's not too much to say about the writing, in this volume, other than it is good. The little kid in me that still loves mythology is utterly fascinated with that aspect of it.

The art is the real stand out this time around. Whether it is the famous double-page Mobius strip or the sublime color palette of the Yesod (the moon place where Sophie and Babs meet up), this volume is a visual feast. With the Van Gough teaser for the next issue, I can not wait to jump into the next volume.

I love the Grace & Stacia Show. What I thought would be a bit annoying and predictable has turned out to be pretty interesting. I hope we get a bit more of them in Book 4. My only nitpick is Boo Boo. Dear God, is she annoying.
