Aren't they mentioned as being in Chicago in Civil War#6?

Wussup with that? Does anybody have any idea?

I think they're in name only unless they somehow did their thing in Annihilation #5 and got to Earth that quickly which is unlikely.

Yeah but I don't understand why they are mentioned in Civil War in the first place.

Dunno, but it rolls of the tongue. Say it out loud. Chicago Space Knights.

Unlikely.

But, yeah, what StoneGold and Will said. The pro-Registration side is clearly recycling existing names.

Say, didn't a group of people over at the Distinguished Competition do that not too long ago.....? ;)

Yeah, it's not the real spaceknights, just as the new Champions are not the real Champions either.
Peace.

Precisely. Iron Man and company are stealing the names of existing or formally existing teams. Just one more thing to make Hercules mad.

In Tony's defense, coming up with nearly 50 superhero team names must be tough. From what I understand, they're looking for a team in each state. Eventually you'll have to start recycling.

I suppose they could have just used the word Avengers plus whatever city or state they were in if they wanted to be lazy. The South Dakota Avengers or whatever... but there's a lack of uniqueness there.

Plus, it doesn't help at all come copyright renewal time.

Yeah, Herc gave up the name to the Former Great Lakes Avengers/X-men/Defenders. Which means Mr. Immortal can now sue Tony into oblivion!

Tom Brevoort confirmed that it's a new group just using the Spaceknights name. i asked him in the "Ask Tom" thread over on the Civil War boards.
