In a couple hours the BF and I are going to my parents' place for New Year's dinner (Chinese food).

I am NOT looking forward to this.

I'm bringing 20 bucks and bus fare home because I just have this feeling it's going to devolve into a arguement over why I won't change to be like them and why I have to accept them for being the way they are.

I do accept them for the way they are but that doesn't mean I should want to be around people who insult me and make putting me down a recreational sport. I don't put up with that crap from other people I don't know why I should accept it from my family.

Just called 'em..

Apparently it's taking over 3 hours to get food from the restaurant and since my boyfriend has to go to bed in about 4.5 hours it's been postponed till Saturday...

"I'll take 'Self-Contradictory Viewpoints' for $500, Alex."

(Edit: theirs, not yours)

Basically I have to accept them for the way they are but they can't accept me for the way I am.

All hetero, law-abiding and straight-laced and stuff.
