Anyone else reading this book? I nearly pissed myself at the mall while reading the latest issue and its never-ending two-page spreads. Elvis MODOKS! Pantless ninjas! Gigantic Ape Wolverine!
It'll be sad when the final issue hits and the series is done (for now), as it was one of the few ongoings that had me want to hit the comic shop up on shipping day.

I love this book so much.
The irony of the book is that it's written so gratuitously for comic book fans that it goes over their heads.
(Recalls arguements when the the book was first announced: Why does Ellis have to ruin our characters, why can't he just tell these stories in his own shared universe!)
This book exists to remind us that Fin Fang Foom wore big purple pants. And they were glorious.

I read the first hardcover collection of NextWave, and completely and utterly agree with your statements. Anyone who does not like NextWave should get a transplanted sense of humor.

Nextwave is too beautiful for this world. It had to leave us sooner or later.
I'm acutally glad that it's going out at the top of its game, like Young Elvis MODOK. I wouldn't want it to stick around just to get all old and gross like Old Elvis MODOK.

Only the good die young
Yeah yeah, I know about the minis.
LOVED issue #10 with the explorations of each person's mind and AMAZING talent by Immonen (sp?) he changed his art style to look like other artists styles and it looked perfect. Also want to know more about Captain. His "Forbush Vision" was the most interesting, and sad.

I love Nextwave. It made me like characters I never cared for and it gave us the best villain of 2006, Dirk Anger. I shall miss you when your gone Nextwave.

The best stories have ends. I'm glad to have read NextWave, and I'd enjoy a return, probably, but ongoings are lame.

Nextwave was the only good Marvel book this year. I mourn its impending doom.

I say thee no. Those writen by Ed Brubaker were almost as good as Nextwave, only not as funny.

You oughta try to hunt down all the Daredevils, Captain Americas, and X-Factors you missed this year. :)

Also some crossover they were having. It was pretty good, but I don't think I ever saw any kind of press about it. Totally under the radar.
Nextwave is teh Love. Zomg. Oh noes!

I almost bought an X-Factor. But then I didn't.
And I've been meaning to pick up DD trades all the way back to the beginning of Bendis' run, but I've never gotten around to it.
I spend too much on comics as it is.

I love Nextwave, but I suspect it would have a very limited shelf life at its current level of quality. I can't see much beyond a "season two", and even that seems like it may be a stretch. Issues 9 & 10 were near perfect, and part one of the big conclusion in issue 11 with the huge goofy splash pages just sets this series up for a great finish. Hopefully, we'll get a one volume oversized HC when it's all said and done.

Nextwave - the Firefly of comics. Raved about by those who read it, yet consigned to an early death. Roll on the movie!!!
(Btw - I realise that the Firefly analogy doesn't fully work but I just wanted to express my Nextwave love!)
Nextwave kicks you in the testicles and then applies an icepack.
Nextwave loves you and hates you at the same time.
Seriously, the art on this title blows everything out of the water. Its as if the pages are animated!
And the splash pages in #11? I want a giant poster about 2" high and 6" feet wide. I'd pay, like, $32 for it. Heck maybe more.
And dam its hilarious, as everyone has said, but it has great action too.
Tick Tick Tick...........BOOM!!!!!

Same here. There aren't enough truly "comic" comic books anymore, and the more I think about Civil War the more I realize both sides are idiots and that the whole idea in general is a cynical marketing ploy.

The AWESOME cover made this book sell out a bit too quickly, so I had my pleasure of reading it heavily delayed.
But once I read it - AWESOME-TASTIC!
Ellis continues with his novel sense of fun. Highly enjoyable series that I will definitely miss.

I'd love to see the sales figures for this issue, to see if there's a huge spike of people who can't tell black from plaid...

Love this book .. guilt faced I downloaded it then after reading I knew I needed to have in the collection. WELL worth the read.
Books like this dont need to go past a certain amount. Make a short series then stop for awhile. and then come back with an Awesome writer.

Axed with issue #12. There’s no obvious reason for the 2.8% gain, unless possibly some retailers looked at the parody cover and figured it was a CIVIL WAR parody issue. (It isn’t.)

Not crazy about the themesong. It reminds me of some of Brak's old songs from "Cartoon Planet." and not in the good way.
Thanks for the numbers, stealth...

Musically I'm not a fan either - it's just the fact that a comic has a theme tune... I frakkin love it!

Did anyone over 5 years old actually laughed at the Fing Fan Foom jokes?

I guess im one of the ones who didnt like Nextwave. The "humor" was annoying it wasnt even funny it was just juvenile and annoying. I think 12 issues is good, how long would they have made stupid jokes and an endless fight scene?

I'm 27 and regarded locally as a pillar of the community... I laughed a lot at Fin Fang Foom... I laughed even more at the Cable/ Boomer and Celestials/ X-52 flashbacks.

Issue 12 came and went far too fast. *Sigh* I hope that there's a mini-series sometime at the end of this year.
The final ish reveal made it worthwhile, although I quite enjoyed the last several issues a lot more than this one.
