there were two ultimate iron man HCs, but were there actually any differences between them other than the front cover?

I am not sure but there is so far only 1 Ultimate Iron Man mini-series, the second arc/series is not out yet. So probably the only difference should be in covers. But dont quote me on it.

Do you mind if I 'quote' you on that?

I picked up the Ultimate Iron Man TPB on a whim, assuming it was a single, stand alone mini-series, but man -- the end of issue #5 just........... ended......... with no sense of closure in any way, shape, or form

Good to know there's a second arc coming out

Is it worth buying? I have been looking at it for awhile but I haven't really heard anything good or bad about it.

Actually, Ult IM ignitied my interest in Ironman in general. Until recently I thought nothing of the character, but his Ult origin really got me interested. I recomend it.

I love Ultimate Iron Man but I did not think much of the origin book, Him being blue and all (You'll see what I mean) just doesn't really connect well with me to the present day UIM. Hopefuly the second book will help form the bridge for me.

The only differences is the hardcover cover.

One has Orson Scott Card's name be fairly prominent.

The other has a bigger image of Iron Man.

Marvel did the same thing in collections of Moon Knight, and Astonishing X-Men, so fans of Huston/ Whedon would be more likely to pick up the project.

A second volume will eventually be produced.

I felt kind of the same. It wasn't a bad book, but it just wasn't Iron Man. It was really as much if not more about Tony's father than it was about Tony himself.

I can not say that I was overly impressed with it. I liked Ultimate Iron Man in the Ultimates. However I can not say that I am really impressed with Tony orginally being blue and having some of his own super abilities really did not impress me.

Even though it's a bit of a rocky start, it still has my interest to see how it all plays out when volume 2 comes out.

Diffinately.

.

Yeah, even in the world of contrivances, without which there would be no superheroic adventure stories, much of Ultimate Iron Man struck me as heavily, needlessly contrived. Yet by the end I was more or less won over & ready for volume 2.
