Well I just recently bought the first three TPB of The Walking Dead. So far I've been very impressed with Robert Kirkman's writing and they way he is unfolding his story. The first issue is impressive artistically but the other two issues have been a bit hard for me to swallow from the drawing stand point.

I've been a huge fan of zombie movies from sometime now but I've never thought of venturing into the comic market for my undead fix. I've picked up The Walking dead obviously, ToeTags and the Dawn Of The Dead comics but that's about all the titles I've seen that deal with my beloved zombies.

So my question ..... what are some other good zombie comics?? I'm open to any suggestions and if you'd like to recommend other titles in the horror genre that would fine too. I'm not opposed to vampires, werewolfs, mummies or any other supernatural being .... I just prefer zombies. So ..... indulge me please!!

Well thanks for all the suggestions. I don't even know where to begin reading now. haha! It's ok ........ I did my own research and I think I helped myself out now. There's more zombie titles out there than I anticipated.

Marvel Zombies is good.

Doc Frankenstein is crazy fun (if he counts as a zombie). Plus it's got werewolves and an undead dodo.

I had flipped through the hardcover of Marvel Zombies at a book store a couple of days ago and was impressed by the artwork. That Doc Frankenstein seems worth checking out just because there's an undead dodo. That's funny stuff. Thanks!

I'm still enjoying The Walking Dead series. I've re-read the first three TPB and I plan on going buy the fourth and fifth sometime this week. It's just been so well written up to this point and I really want to see how the next two TPB unfold. I'm even over the artwork from the 2nd and 3rd books. I still don't care for it much but I've learned to live with it I guess. I guess a good story trumps good artwork ... kind of like how good pitching in baseball can always shut down a good offense ... or something like that!

I can answer this.

Tony Moore, did the 1-6 Issues, cover and itnerior. Unfortunately fo rthe rest, Moore did not reach the dea dlines, so the yhad to use Charles Adland.

Moroe did the cover art up unitl the end of VOlume4. Sinc eit is AL Charles now.

But yeah I seocnd what ha sbeen mentioned.

The best zombie comie I've read is called Zombies That Ate The World. It in issues 8 - 14 of Metal Hurlant, published by DC comics a couple of years ago.
Written by Jerry Frisson and Illustrated by Guy Davis. It's short stories about the dead continuing to rise from the grave and instead wanting to eat your brains people have to learn to live with them. The main character is a nerdy loser, his sister and a big dumb bvelgain guy who job it is to desceetly dispose of the creepy relative that has come back from the dead. Hilarity insues.

Most of the other Zombie comics on the stands I cannot recomend because they are not must reads. For a book with a similair vibe and quality as The Walking Dead I recomend BPRD: A Plague Of Frogs, BPRD: The Dead, BPRD: The Black Flame and BPRD: The Universal Machine. These are horror themed books with the Undead, Zombies and Lovecraftean horrors that threaten to destroy. These are volumes 3-6 of the BPRD series. Written by Mike Mignola and John Arcudi. Illustated by Guy Davis.

Zombies That Ate The World ... what a beautiful title. I've never hear of Metal Hurlant but thanks for the info. Sounds like a winner to me. I'll have to see if my lame excuse for a comic shop has those issues .. much less that comic at all. But maybe I'll get lucky and I can have a quick undead fix. That would be great!

I'll check for the BPRD issues as well. You can't EVER go wrong with a little Lovecraft mix into a story. That guy was pure genius. Speaking of "Guy"s ... I see that Guy Davis does the illustrations for all the books you mentioned .. so I'm guessing he's good ... or he just happens to illustrate for people who write good stories. haha. In either case I'll keep my eyes peeled back for the books you mentioned. Thanks ... it's always appreciated!!
