Boy, is it a snooze - plot movement that would take two panels takes a whole book.

basically we backtrack to the Squadron Supremes alt. earth where Ultimate Reed's interdimensional probe brought with it some kind of alien lifeform that is ravaging their earth. The White House is being eaten by giant green blobs. hmmm...
anyways the squadron supreme backtrack the signal to Ultimate Earth, explain the situation to Reed and crew and he decides that he'll return with them and face up to what he's done. The SS and Reed dissappear and Sue cries. Nick Furys prepares a rescue team comprised of most of our Ultimate heroes and swears to bring back Reed.
Thats it.
And yes, while you could have condensed these last 3 issues into one, I still liked it.

Lame how Hyperion went from "You destroyed our world!" in the previous issue to..."You could've destroyed our world!"

As with Kitty Pryde in the previous issue, #3 features a panel where Zarda has an expression on her face that does not at all match what she's saying, leading to the suspicion that it's been traced. On the other hand, this is Zarda, who's canonically got very odd emotional reactions.

No, that "artist" pretty much traces everything...

Issue 3 was much, much better than the mess that was issue 2. Bendis is excels at set-ups, so he's the right choice fo r4the first third of the title, but the big fight of issue 2 seemed forced, somehow.

booorring! i'm a huge fan of the squadron characters but they were only window dressing in this non-story. didn't expect to be saying this but i'm not picking up the next issue.

This 3 issues could have been one. And even in one, it would still be bad.

IMHO, wait for the TPB, buy a cup of coffee and read it in Borders.

I'll be buying this one later here tonight, then I'll make my judgement on it.

Well this is the last issue with Bendis writing it I think. After this it gets handed to JMS, I think. So I'm hoping that he'll give the Squadron guys some focus and actually put them at their real power levels instead of this insane jobbing they've been doing in these last three issues.

He's not. Neither is Millar.
Stracynski is the next three issues, followed by Loeb for the last three.

the art was terrible. The splash page... words cannot describe how awful it was, it was as though he'd reused and reused old poses and just thrown them all together. Also anyone the final nick fury page? that was definitely a trace of another comic possibly the ultimates - i'm gonna try and pin it down.

I didn't mind Ultimate Power until now. I /want/ to like this thing, but boo bloody hiss. We get a fight stretched to TWO issues, then one with nothing but Basil Exposition.
This is supposed to take place down the line in the Supremeverse, right? So Zarda becomes coherent between now and then? Blah. On the other hand, if Zarda does happen to return to form under the JMS issues, that’s just… sad.
The mass exposition scenes reek of giving extraneous lines to random characters, to half-assedly try and make it look like it’s not the same 2 people saying everything. Has Nuke ever even spoken without being spoken to in SP/SS? Oh yeah, there's that @#$^%#^ future timeline thing.

I fail to see the logic in having Loeb doing the final three issues.
While he's come up with a couple of good tales in his time, the endings have always been the weakest part of his stories.

Ack, you're right. I had forgetten about that with Loeb. :(
Hopefully this was mutually conceived, and just given to each guy to execute his part. Oh well, hopefully the JMS issues won't suck.

He's an extremely popular writer and everything he writes sells extremely well? Seems logical to me.

Maybe so, but endings (and continuity and overzealous silver agism, but that is beside the pointshere) are his kryptonite. Why not put him on the first or second chapter rathet than the ending then?

Am I in the bizarro universe? I just commented over in the Ult. FF thread about my dislike for the current story, that everyone else is praising.
People here hate this book. I really like it. I think Land is doing an outstanding job. The scenes of Washington attacked by the protozoa where amazing.
While I think the first two issues were a little slow with their obligatory fight scenes. This issue was full of story. We get the reason for the Supreme invasion. The cause behind it (Reed). And Reed's noble sacrifice. I though it was anything but decompressed.
So count me as a contrarian. Loved Ult. Power, loathed Ult. FF.

It was mentioned in an interview that Loeb is an excellent blockbuster-action writer so they purposely put him on the grand finale. I'm not a real Loeb fan, but that seems reasonable enough.

Though I do think this issue was a bit compresssed (at least compared to the last issue which was wall to wall action, something Bendis rarely does), I'm liking the series too.
There are justifiable criticisms for Lands artwork (or HOW Land puts out his artwork), but there's a fun to his style too.
But that said, I kind of knew the internet would hate this series. Bendis and Land are both popular targets... all they really needed was to throw Hudlin in there and it'd probabably be the most criticized series in comics right now. That said, I don't think it's great by any means... but it's still fun, which is what team cross overs like this are suppossed to be more than anything else.

This just appears to reinforce my view the the Ultimate universe should not be crossed over into and that Supreme Power (I still dislike calling it Squadron Supreme) should be run as an extended Maxi series over say 100 issues.
But, whadda I know

Three issues in and this one set in the Squadron's universe to boot, and still no sign of Emil Burbank? That and Bendis' attention deficit disorder repetitive dialogue ("Look out!" "Don't touch it!" "What's going on?" "Are you OK?" "I said don't touch it!" "Look out!" "What is it? What is it?!) are killing me. Maybe issue #4 under JMS will right this sinking ship.

I dug it, only problem I have is with the art, I don't want to tar and feather the guy for tracing, but, at least he could trace art that kind of goes w/ the dialouge. I really like the Fury speech at the end, it seems like all the leaders in comics lately are constantly crapped on for making the hard decisions, it was nice for one to actually stand up for himself and give the I told u so.

Well, it took three issues, but at least we finally have a PREMISE! This issue was a huge improvement over the last two. If all of these had been done as one issue (as they clearly should have been--um folks, Marvel has been ripping us off here), I might actually enjoy the book.
As it is, first two issue grades: F-
third issue grade: C
For a combined grade of: F
