Name at least one song that you enjoy even though you are very ashamed that you enjoy. A song that stands in stark opposition to everything that defines your taste in music. A song that you can't even defend.

For me, it would be "Notorious" by Duran Duran.

Well I like Creed so shoot me.

But I do get a guilty pleasure out of listening to 4 Non Blondes: " Hey Whats Goin On ?" and Vanilla Ice's " Ice , Ice Baby ".

I'm not ashamed of anything I genuinely enjoy. There is music I like that some might think I should be ashamed of liking, but I'm comfortable enough with my own tastes not to care what other people think.

Push The Button by Sugababes, and Shine by Shannon Noll (inaugural Australian Idol runner-up).

I am not ashamed to like them, but I always find 1 or 2 true radio pop songs that I listen to way more times than I should.

Currently I am hooked on:
Kelly Clarkson's Since U Been Gone - I don't care what anyone else thinks, this song flat out ROCKS !

Kanye West's GoldDigger - Its turned into a joke at the office that we listen to this song every morning, it just drilled its way into my brain.

and lastly, The Black Eyed Peas' My Humps - As stupid as this song is, I am hooked, I think it is the way she sings that "make you scream" part of the song that I like so much.

I'm with you on this one. 99% of the crap I listened to in high school make me shudder. But I still have a soft spot for this one.

Same here. Also Avril's "I'm With You".

I also enjoyed the entirety of the Spice Girls' first album and some of their second.

And I second the "My Humps". I roll up the windows when it bumps in my car. I kinda don't like it, but I think its catchiness has entangled me.

I don't think I have a musical taste that I can commit offenses against. One of the perks of being broad-minded enough to enjoy everything except the things I hate, which by definition I don't enjoy.

Oh, no, wait. Thought of one. Wet Wet Wet's cover of "Love Is All Around." A piece of treacly early-90's crap, the only good thing about which is that it introduced me to the Troggs beyond "Wild Thing." I still have a soft spot for it, though.

Okay, let's be honest. We all have music that we aren't proud of, and maybe hide from the prying eye of friends. What's your dark secret? What do you listen to when nobody's around?

Well come on...

Just to get the ball rolling.. and since I'm still sorta new :) My Guilty Pleasure is Madonna, but only certain stuff, more the Bedtime Stories stuff where she tripped out and wasn't all that poppy. Other than that I can't think of too much in my collection I would hide from prying eyes. Heck even that I wouldn't hide, but would come up with some excuse why it's there hehe.

Because it's a very enjoyable, nicely done piece of fluff that deservedly lodges itself in your brain.

What's scary is, I'll be walking along and then BOOM! I have the song lilting through my head. Yes, it is enjoyable fluff, but I'm not really a big fan of the song, yet I'll be humming it to myself. Maybe because it is the one song that I actually know through and through.

Though of another GP: Madonna's early stuff. She doesn't have an outstanding voice, but it works with what she sings.

Just so you know that damn song is stuck in my head now  . We used to play this game where i used to work, where we would go by each other singing a song that you know will get stuck in someones head. We should try that on the boards hehe. Like AH-Ha's "Take On Me"

I really, honestly like some cheesey metal.

Once or twice a year I will go through weeks where I listen to nothing but Type O Negative and Immortal. Then I become very moody, and I'm either angry or depressed. After a fortnight of metal binging, I'll put the stuff away and not touch it months.

I guess I just need to get the Metal out of my system from time to time...

I've got all kinds of 1970s and 1980s soft rock to go along with my harder rock 'n roll. Like Howie, though, I don't feel a tinge of guilt about them...but often I feel annoyance that people feel that I *should* feel guilty about them.

I own a few Debbie Gibson records from the 1980s myself. When I first got them, it was mainly because I thought she was hot. Today, I'm surprised by how listenable the stuff still is (well, some of it anyway).

Carlos Santana/Rob Thomas - Smooth

I usually dislike anything Rob Thomas does, but I can't help liking this song! It's a hell of a lot better than that piece of crap Carlos did with Steve Tyler a while back.

I have to say that I'm not really ashamed of any music I listen to...if I dig it, then it's cool as far as I'm concerned.

That said however, one song I really like that all my friends think I should be stoned to death in the streets for liking is...

Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel

Yeah, I know what you're thinking but it's not a song about f***ing rabbits!! OK?!! :evilangry

It's touching piece of music about death and mortality. Plus Art Garfunkel's voice is magic. :o

Not so much a song as bands.
When I was a teen back in the 80s I and all my friends listened to the metal bands...Ratt, Motley Crue, Poison, Slayer, Dio, etc.

But I actually enjoyed pop more, especially groups that were considered "gay" well, because they were.....Culture Club & Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
Their orientation didn't matter to me. I loved their music and bought their albums. I still listen to them, and other 80's pop groups from time to time.

Of course if my friends would have caught me bobbing my head to Time (Clock of the Heart) or Relax, I would've been labeled the "F" word behind my back. Despite the fact that I was then and always have been woman crazy. It's just stupid.
