Is the oft-repeated "sit, boy" gag funny enough to make up for the fact that Kagome comes off a complete bitch for not removing those sacred beads after all this time?

What other running jokes in an anime/manga don't seem quite strong enough to support their premise? (InuYasha alone could probably fill a few pages of this thread)

That darn old lady who always goes around splashing water in Ranma 1/2 kinda gets on my nerves.

But the champion in this category JUST HAS TO BE the 'Naru Punch'. That crazy witch...

Not to mention that in...I think at the end of movie 3, when they break off in the beginning, Kagome has him close his eyes "for a surprise" only to have her put them back on him.

Yeah, that was actually what prompted me to ask the question. :)

I realize that movies are just filler, and that they need to end with nothing changed so the anime can pick up again, so the beads had to be returned. But it got me to thinking..."Why haven't the friggin things come off in the anime/manga? Is there any good story reason besides allowing Kagome to occasionally hurt him when she gets mad?"

the most common running gag ( Especially in "harem" animes ) is one of the "extra" girls "glomping" the main male ( That everyone is in love with ), and Calling him DARLING, ( Or claiming to be his wife/ GF/ lover ) when he CLEARLY isnt interested in her!:p

In-universe: Does Kagome even know how to take them off?

Real Life: Yes. It's supposed to be part of the whole "dog" joke. Not just the "Sit!", but also the fact that it's a leash of sorts.
