Green Lantern wannabe

I was just thinking this morning... what if the Green Lantern ring was a wedding ring? Maybe the Oans, having lost the Zamorans, considered using the ring as some sort of Freudian means of getting their ladies back and, well, you know how psychology and phallic symbols and all that.
So I can imagine an alternate universe where Carol Ferris/Star Saphire, having seen the ring on Hal Jordan, is forever trying to get him to the altar, because he was the chosen one, and Hal is the renegade GL trying to avoid his oath to be faithful to the GL Corps - ie, no bachelor shall escape Green Lantern's light.
