If anyone remembers or chooses to remember , Daughtry was on American Idol last year. Along the way he did a great cover of a Fuel song which lead that band to want his services during the contest. Of course Daughtry was locked into AI and couldn't do it but along the way his covers of " Wanted Dead or Alive " and " Suspicious Minds " became pretty damn good to listen to.
Daughtry was voted off ( some claimed it scam to do typical AI music albums ) and many wondered where he'd go. But Daughtry did a band album with his last name. Some of the songs off the self titled album are typical pop/rock stuff. But some are pretty damn good. And Daughtry's vocals are never a question mark. The man has the " Goods " .
The Album has pretty much been kicking some serious ass. It was released November 21st and it came in number #2 to Jay-Z with 304,000 copies. Making him the 2nd person to not win the show to achieve that kinda sales. ( Clay Aiken was the 1st )
Heres where it gets more wilder. Daughtry's album outsold the eventual AI winner Taylor Hick's whose debut sold 298,000 copies. Daughtry's album nearly beat AI's 4th season winner Carrie Underwood's new album "Some Hearts " which sold 315,000.
