SLIGHT SPOILERS: I thought the scene between Montoya and The Question was quite beautiful. I really liked the bit showing all the different characters/situations so far in 52 having a moment each, even if it was only a panel. I don't know why but this one felt special. Lex had a wonderful moment of Evil too. END OF SLIGHT SPOILERS

Frickin' Christmas miracles help out Luthor but not Vic? Rassin Frassin...
Actually, the Christmas miracle helped that kid who was Luthor's guinea pig. It's just that Luthor took advantage of it and stole the kid's Christmas miracle.
He'll have a nice obituary, though.

Yeah, which makes more sense than him dying from lung cancer at the ripe old age of thirty-something with maybe less than a decade of smoking under his belt.
Cold issue. Luthor's one mean bastard. Great scene. And the Black Marvel Family moment was great, but I just can't enjoy it knowing that, somewhere down the line, they're gonna' ruin all of those members in some way. Osiris and Sobek have so much potential, Isis is an incredible female character, and Adam's completely turned around, but by the end of this book, I know that family's gonna' be ruined. Which is a kick in the face for people who were hoping we'd have at least one worthwhile Marvel Family.

I THINK (long time Question fans, help!) this is a older reference to Pseudorerm, from the earlier Question series. Apparently, the reason why Tok never MARKETED the stuff was because of this flaw, that if applied to open wounds it could cause blood poisoning.

Wait...THIS was the big reveal of why Gordon rejoined the Gotham PD? He just came back one day?
I suppose that leaves the actual reason up to the Bat-writers to reveal one day. But the first OYL Batman story seemed to indicate that something happened during 52 that all but forced him back.

Why? Anyone can get cancer at any age. People who never smoked a day in their lives occasionally get lung cancer.

Sad but true. Sometimes people at the ripe young age of 30-something get cancer from that little bit of smoking years ago.

Okay, anything makes more sense than him getting lung cancer from the pack of smokes he smoked once, fifteen years ago. :p Be it pollution, eating lead paint chips, huffin' chemicals, or spreading some wildly experimental fake skin all over his face.
He smoked more than one pack. He apparently smoked a bit, gave it up, but had relapses.

poor Question, talking like did in his last mini series
i was a bit peeved by the 1 panel of the animal man, lobo, (guess who my fav characters are ;) )etc storyline. i expected to turn the page and go back into that story. also montoya's comment about after drinking her problems are still there. might as well have another drink i say :D
i do like the freudian love nightwing has for batwoman. a female version of his mentor, there's a crapload of stuff writers could do with that! maybe people more read in the nightwing/batman books could punch holes in my theory but it makes me smile.
what's happening on mad scientist island for the holidays?? next issue hopefully. (gotta wait til thur, fraggin holidays)
overall i dug this issue, but this series has me by the nostrils, so i'm not an objective observer. definetly a wed night read.

Yeah, I was a bit miffed about that too.
But March's BATMAN solicit mentions something about a conspiracy in the Gotham PD. Not sure if it's a bit of a backstep (since Batman is involved and he was MIA during 52) or what.....

Eh, I think it's more like a running gag about Dick's attraction to buxom redheads, or redheads in tight leather. Both Babs and Kory are redheaded ex-lovers.

my first hole has been punched. if i get 10 i get a free sandwich or oil change or something. i can't cheat because they use a special bat symbol hole punch.

Glad it wasn't just me that saw that panel and went WHAT WHAT WHAAAAT????? like I was that lady from South Park.
I was really really looking forward to seeing exactly what happened in the GCPD that Bullock uncovered, and even though we probably WILL get that story, now we have no idea when. One shot in one of the monthly Bat-books? 12 part Storyline? Multibook crossover(shudder)? Who the heck knows. And what sucks about it is that if I'm not reading the Bat books at the time(which is very possible because they've really been hit and miss for years now) I'm not going to have any idea until way way after it's out.
I figured that it was going to have something to do with Intergang coming to town, maybe Atkins was an intergang plant waiting for the right time to set things up, then Batman leaves town and he sees his moment.
I was hoping that Batwoman, Montoya, and The Question would eventually team up with Bullock to figure everything out, maybe Nightwing could get involved too, and maybe, just maybe, they'd all get in over their heads fighting weird wolfman creatures and such, only to have Vic and Montoya call in a favor from Black Adam at what would seem to be the final hour......
IMHO, AWESOME potental storyline that I will never see because someone(or someones?) at DC wants to kill Vic Sage......
I'm liking 52, but that one panel took a lot of my feeling of suspense away for
what's going to happen next because I know what ISN'T going happen. Lame.

Count me in as someone pissed as what appears to be The Question's / Vic Sage's fate next issue.
I thought I heard Rucka was going to write a series with him. I was SO looking forward to that.
One of my favorite parts of 52, of the DCU right now, someone I wanted to see much more of, and it looks like DC is killing him off. Bah. Humbug.

just re-read it. A major unanswered question.
Why does Green Lantern wear an eyepatch underneath his mask? I know he only has one eye, but why not wear a mask with only one eye hole? Why would he put on an eyepatch, then spirit-gum his mask over it?

They do, but the odds are against it, especially for someone as uber-fit as Vic. Lung cancer before 45 is rare, and that's for people who've smoked all their lives.

I know what you mean. That storyline is my favorite part of 52 but you can tell it's being built up to be torn down. Shame. I like Isis.

I think it was Hal Jordan (based on a glowing ring), but I haven't been following GL and don't know what all the kids were about.
The one I didn't get was the factory.
BoosterBronze, it was explained in one of the earlier issues, when they brought a group of heroes back and all of them were injured. GL was missing an eye, somebody had a piece of Red Tornado fused into them, Hawk Girl was giant-sized, etc. But you're also correct in that we've never seen an explanation as to why he wears his mask over the eyepatch. Guess some artist at DC thought it looked cool.

I can't believe no one's mentioned this yet, but...
SUICIDE SQUAD, BABY!!!!
I am very excited. That was a very cool intro to this version of the Squad, and I am liking this group very much. Vertigo is one of my favourite members of the team, and having the new Boomerang is a nice touch. I always thought Electrocutioner was a natural for the team, and Plastique is sorely underused (though I question why Waller would recruit her again after what happened last time). The new Persuader would be great as cannon fodder.
The only way this line-up would be better would be if the Bulleteer were on it, and Morrison confused the hell out of everyone by bitching about it afterwards.

The one I didn't get was the factory. The kids are Hal's nephews. Hal's brother and family recently moved to Coast City.

Can't say I was really thrilled. I guess I've been spoiled by all these obscure appearances (in 52 and elsewhere) that I'd have been happier if it was a bunch of folks we haven't seen associated with the Squad already (Vertigo), or people we haven't seen used OYL (Electrocutioner, Plastique, Vertigo again).
The new Persuader was an interesting sight to see. And yeah, seeing Boomerang Jr. there makes me giggle even more now.

Because he materialises his mask with the power of his ring, he doesn't put it on.
