Check out this auction. Someone out there was willing to pay big bucks.

We are talking a VG copy here. Lovely Matt Baker cover. I don't have an Overstreet in front of me, but I bet this went for 3 X Guide.

GOING-STEADY 12 (http://cgi.ebay.ca/GOING-STEADY-12-SOLID-GRADE-HEARTWARMING-COVER_W0QQitemZ180060394119QQihZ008QQcategoryZ3973 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

It's nice to know that I am not alone, and that some people are in worse mental health than me.

The couple on the cover seem to be a little old for "going steady."

But the satisfied smirks on their faces and the way he forcefully holds his pipe so the stem is jutting out makes this a definite keeper.

They're studying the fire like it was a pregnancy test.

The cover could've so easily been converted to an EC tableau, with a blood-dripping decapitated head by Johnny Craig, say, roasting on a spit in the fireplace ...

"There is blood on the pipe."

"A little."

Must be a Canadian thing...

I just think it must have been uncomfortable for Matt Baker to draw his models from that vantage point.

On a related note, Bud Plant sold out of all their copies of the Marvel Romance TPB. I chalk it up the artists mentioned in the contents (Buscema, Colan, Steranko, Everett).

"It," of course, being the Marvel Romance TPB (which I certainly bought awhile back, though probably from Amazon or Books-a-Million rather than Mile High), not the classic comic that sold on eBay.
