Mike Smash!

Everyone, I just wanted to announce that as of tonight, I am the newly elected Vice Chair of the Green Party of Washington State.
Basically I'm the number two person in the state party and get to do a greater pile of unheralded, unpaid volunteer work.
Wish me luck!

So you're worked like a dog and you've got the built in shame of a fourth party tenure to back it up.
Congrats all the same.

Congrats Mike!
And thanks for working to make America a better place. I may not agree with all your policy positions - but I do acknowledge it's people like you that keep the WE in "We the People" alive.

Nice Mike!
The good news about an unpaid promotion is that you don't need to worry about getting a raise and drifting into the next tax bracket.

Congratulations, Mike!
I am really impressed; you're rising right through the ranks of the party!
So does this give you any new thoughts (or change the thoughts you have) about running for office?

I wouldn't be adverse to eventually running for office, but right now, I'm just not qualified. Perhaps in a few years when I get some more experience under my belt.

Hey, congratulations!
You told them you were an atheist first right?
And eventually worked into the conversation that you posted on comic book sites?

I make no secret about either, but they don't come up very often at all.

That's really amazing actually. :)
People like myself are so selfish and give nothing back to the community, so we are relying on motivated and generous people like yourself. Congratulations, that's very admirable.

Don't let anything stop you. You don't have to become a full time activist to get involved.
Find an organization or a charity whose work you support and give them an hour a month. It's quite easy and very rewarding work.
An hour a month isn't that much time, but it can have an impact. That's an hour a month you're taking off of the shoulders of another overburdened volunteer. It all adds up. And if you enjoy it, give two hours or more.
If you need any help, feel free to PM and I'd be willing to do a little detective work for you online and help you out.

I'd rather let you keep picking up the slack for me so I can go on being lazy and selfish. Congratulations, at any rate, buddy. Glad to see your hardwork is paying off in... more hard work. But, like the other guy said, good on you for doing what you believe in and what not.
