Ive read some good reviews online, but I trust the opinions of my fellow CBRers much more. The story/premise intrigue me, and I am a fan of Ross, but apperently he did not do the interior art for this mini. How is the art, Im pretty shallow when it comes to interior art, Ill tolerate a bad story with pretty pictures, but a good story with ugly images really turns me off.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I wasn't blown away by this story at all.. It's sort of like Kingdom Come, except not executed nearly as well.

I liked EARTH X. The story wasn't much, but John Paul Leon is very good at what he does.
The two sequels were middling to poor, though.

I totally LOVED EARTH X, and the follow ups to it too! If you really like your Marvel history then you'll dig it.

It's only for people who already like the Marvel universe. But if you do, and don't mind your characters being looked at from a twisted perspective, it's an awesome read.
I find the art a bit messy and clouding of the issue. The black & white hardcover is way more expensive, but much better looking in my opinion. The artwork and coloring were not consistent, and in color I have to overlook the art and focus on the story.
It essentially is the Marvel Kingdom Come.
Most prefer Kingdom Come, and it is more tightly executed, but I love Earth X more. Fascinates me to no end.
ummmm... so I guess I recommend it.

Tripled-ed... or whatever. I have that version too. It also comes with a DVD ROM and a cool poster, AND that neato X-51 case! :D

Absolutly, Marvel is really missing storys of this type.
It's this and then it is Gruenwalds Squadron Supreme storys, all time Marvel classics:D
I was impressed with Earth X really, i have the OHC book that is selling now.
But i'm sorry to say that i'm the opposite of you in taste, i think the story is the most important, and if you think Earth X will give you Ross like art you will be disapointed, it's a lot about the story in this book.
But i hear that Universe x and Paradise x is not at all that good.
And i agree that it is better than Kingdom Come that i don't find half that intelligent done.

I actually thought the art got BETTER as the series progressed. The story gets much deeper and much more fleshed out.
There was going to be another series after Paradise X called HISTORY X, but editorial decisions had them stop the series. There was the Heralds mini between Universe X and Paradise X too. I think it's in the trades if you collect it that way though.
Also, here's a 'lil poster I've got. It's signed by everyone and even has a few sketches on it:

it's very hard to get the trades for Universe X and Paradise X.
So i have just read some in digital form, i guess Marvel won't rerelease those as hardcovers for a long time.

In September Marvel re-solicited for new printings of UNIVERSE X vol 1 and in December they re-solicited UNIVERSE X vol 2:
SEP062187 UNIVERSE X VOL 1 TP NEW PTG $29.99
DEC062384 UNIVERSE X VOL 2 TP NEW PTG $29.99
DCBS.com had them at 40% off, or $17.99 a piece. My guess is that if they just did these then Paradise X will follow. If your retailler doesn't have them, look to Amazon or on on-line store.

That poster looks fabulous! oh man! simply awesome. just awesome!
I wanted to add that I really liked Earth X, and after reading it, I felt obligated to eventually get Paradise and Universe X. I only read the 2nd story, and haven't had the time to devote to the 3rd and final part.
Just in reference to the guy tha started the thread, you should know that Ross does NOT do the interiors for any of the stories, and only the covers.
That being said, each X story has a distinct art feel, and I really liked the art in Earth X, and not so much in Paradise (or is it Universe?) X. I haven't even looked at the last story.

I have the Earth X hardcover in the Machine Man case unopened. If anyone is interested in it, let me know.
That being said, I didn't like it when I first read the story. But, the second time I read the book, I loved it. I especially liked the Galactus explanation.
Best explanation ever!

To me parts just seemed so boring and did nothing to serve the story if you already read marvel books...Example it seemed like twenty pages just introduced characters and then had Uatu and X-51 explain who they were...if I was new to Marvel this could have been helpful, however I just was bored by it. Also, I didn't care for "the skull" at all.
I think I said somewhere else on this forum that what I really loved about Earth-X was that it made it look as if everything the early creators at Marvel had done, was actually planned out in great detail. (I'm not trying to take away anything from the creators, of course, I'm not saying they didn't plan anything but Earth-X makes it look so wonderful!).
(So, as mentioned above by "coke & comics", if you know and love your Marvel history, you'll probably enjoy this "new view" of events).
I also loved John-Paul Leon's artwork throughout.
I have the first part of Universe-X but I just don't like it as much. If at all.
