Just looking for a little info on Girls. I've tried googling it, but I came across spoilers, so I figured I'd ask here. I've heard it's good, but what is it about?

erm any explanation would be spoilerific. Right, eh, small town America, we're introduced to our main character who has issues/insecurities relating to women and authority figures. Then a very nekkid invasion hits town. Plot kicks in.

There are two trades available.

They are not expensive.

The characters are all insufferable jerks but ... they're well written and you may not like them but they remain very human.

Picture a Monster movie.

And the "Monsters' Are naked, idnetical Women.

That's about all without any true spoilers.

How about a clue for those of us with no idea what he's talking about? Is this a comic book? Marvel or DC?

Image Comics.

Made by the Luna Brothers, same guys who did "Ultra."

Great book, higly recommended. It's a horror story that is really a study on men and women genders.

Thanks, guys. I take it from this that it isn't an actual sequel to Ultra, then. And plenty of you have recommended it.

I'll check out the first trade this weekend. (Semester's over!)

EDIT: Deja vu, but what's Ultra about?

EDIT: Deja vu, but what's Ultra about?

The luna Brothers have stated Girls have NOTHING to do with Ultra, and tha tin truth it's the "Opposite' o fUltra.

Ultr abtw, is about a super heroine, who is trying to balance out her super heroing, and her social life. (Has some humor moments from what I saw.)

Edit: The big Opposite of Ultra and Girls: Ultra among social things is trying to have a good realtionship//love life, the Girls, try to sex up males, and make more o fthemselves, no romance involed.

Edit2: The second paralle, is the main star is a single male and simplely wanted to get laid.

I read the first issue of Girls hen it came out.

I enjoyed it but for whatever reason didn't keep reading.

This thread prompted me to read the first trade.

It's a very good sf/horror story with a focus, as others have said, on gender relations.

The closest book to it on the market today is probably The Walking Dead.

A final note: this is very definitely a horror title and really pushes the envelope for any of the major companies in terms of nudity, violence and obscenity. None of that bothers me but you wouldn;t want your mom to find out you bought if for your 10 year old brother.

Basically as they said it seems to be an alien invasion. Although it's never really confirmed as one. Pretty much these aliens try to sleep with men, and won't hurt them. The aliens try to kill all the woman. And the Aliens reproduce after having sex with male men. They lay about four eggs that hatch in a short time period. Sorry if that was too spoilerish. But it's all from the first issue anyways I believe. I definitely recommend it. The first three trades are out now. And the last one comes out in a few months. It's a pretty decent book.

GIRLS = The Midwhich Cuckcoos by John Wyndham (filmed and later re-made as VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED) only with naked girls getting impregnated by human males instead of some unseen force impregnating human females.

Good call, if I say so myself...;) :D

Throw in a little ALIEN/S influence (large eggs) and Stephen King (the thing in the cornfields) and George Romero (with hordes of naked rapist/killer girls replacing rotting zombies -- another good call, I might add) and you have a pleasing enough B-movie thriller.

It ain't the greatest thing ever done but I feel I'm getting my money's worth.

The EASIEST discription of GIRLS is that it's Survival Horror. More spessificly, it's a Zombie book. Except instead of Zombies it's naked girls.
