Nice try, wishlist.
Wishlish, buddy (I'll save you the trouble- my real name is Ray Cornwall.) A wishlist would be a list of desired items. For example, you to pay what you're owed and act like a man.

It's no secret that everyone knows I'm fat. And now it's no secret that Rick Olney is a sociopath, one who will NEVER grow up.
Aloha,
Scott!
Scott, I am sincerely sorry for touching upon that fact, rather by accident, that you are a person of some girth. It was not meant as a slight. Well, no more than any of the unintentional things that you've remarked about me here were.
Ummm... and no fair. I brought the word "sociopath" into this discussion before you did. Some people just hanker for attention through their jovial charm, right?

I know, but that is what has allowed him to continue.
I told him to take the remainder of the money he'd cheated me on and stuff it, after two years of his bullshit lies (I mean, he's not even GOOD at it...it's all 'check is in the mail' stuff, same as he's used on everyone here). Because it was such a delight not to have his lunatic whining in my inbox.
But if I'd spoken out, then maybe some more people wouldn't have gotten cheated, and that bothers me.
Gail
Gail, we were both at the same show. Got the same lies. I did speak out eventually too - in small press circles, a number of times and to a number of people. Unfortunately, back then, no one wanted to hear it. I am all for seeing justice done in the current crop of cheated people. I have no interest in being in the battle...going after anything from the past...I'm gonna help with the benefit book instead, try to do positive things. Dimestore and the SPA have done well without Olney. We've built our Distro, we have Small Press Idol...and an Anthology people like. Can't live in the past. Don't let THAT bother you...concentrait on the line drawn in the sand right now, and know that by preponderance of truth and evidence, you are on the right side of it.

Funny how you put that relationship together. I would've never seen that. So was sex involved? I have no idea. My remark to "Gail Simone" about my time on my back was just that. How she earned her stripes is her business.
Everyone here knows what you meant, loser.
You've got a lot of problems. Being really lousy with poorly spelled, poorly worded dimwit insults is way down the list.
Having a deadbeat liar with no talent and a history of cheating his friends insult me is almost a badge of honor.

Well, Dennis was here yesterday and we had a discussion about your memory versus what his memory as ORCA's president, and a person that helped financially support that 2003 event cost. You're all wet. Meaning, your memory is very poor. Your tickets were paid for by us. We covered your meals , and you had all but $100 dollars paid back to you. You would've gotten that had you provided us with receipts.
Yes, big hearted "Gail" ...
You are a fucking liar, Rick. How simple is that?
Twice you've said you paid for my husband's ticket. That is a lie. You never did, ever.
You claim you paid for my meals, you never did. The one time you actually got it together to do so, your credit card was rejected at the hotel and you dog-facedly came out and asked me if I could pay for it myself. I've already expressed how stupidly you handled the meals, which was where everyone at the con first realized you didn't have a clue what you were doing.
Bring Dennis here. Because what he says in emails to me isn't matching what you're saying at all.
Show me ONE SHRED OF PROOF you paid for my husband's ticket. You didn't even pay for all of MY ticket, you moron. You paid ONE check, months after you promised, and it didn't even cover MY airfare.
I can prove every bit of it. Good luck, you ridiculous little liar.

Well, Rick?
Give me ANY EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER you paid anything more than partial payment for my airfare. I keep METICULOUS records, as you have learned to your obvious dismay.
Give me the check number where you paid more than that one check. I still have the receipt for my airfare, and I can prove it was insufficient to cover that charge alone, let alone these other perks you've imagined in your head. Show me a check number, a cancelled receipt, anything. Tom Peyer and Stuart Moore sat at the pizza table with me and I'll guarantee they'll back me up that we paid for our own dinner.
But you pretending you paid for my husband's ticket is beyond a simple memory mistake and into fraud. You say you can prove your story. LET'S FUCKING SEE IT, LIAR.
On the OTHER hand, I can show email after email of you lying about paying the remainder and you try it twice here, as well.
Good luck, nutbar.

That's not true. I haven't grabbed your credit report. I'd actually find that interesting. Because I've come to believe that, even if every person had upheld their NDA, they wouldn't have a check today or any day. My personal opinion is that TLE isn't a valid publishing firm, but rather an instrument to commit fraud upon numerous individuals who want to work in comics.
Unlike others on this thread, I don't think (or care) that you're a psychopath or a jerk (although I'm pretty convinced you're a misogynist, and I'm almost positive you were never a Marine).
I do think you're a criminal. I think this matter is going to end up not in civil court, but in criminal court. I think you've created the comic book equivalent of Enron, Rick.

A few more days went by with no answer and I fired off another email. This time, I was told no one was going to be paid until Rick's "attorney" figured out who had violated their NDA and spoken with Rich.
So he's got a psychic lawyer? Because I can't figure out any other way his lawyer would be able to figure out who tipped Rich.
Or maybe the mythical lawyer simply plans to subpoena a UK citizen for something reported on the Internet? I'm sure that'll pan out.
I've got no horse in this race, other than being tired of seeing pals and creative colleagues mistreated by another unethical publisher, but the more I see about how this guy seems to think the world works, the more I shake my head in disbelief.

Gail,
So you hate me huh?
So nice to hear from you again. Allow me to respond.
First, you've not heard from me because I lost your address, and
frankly life has been more about my trying to get back to feeling good about
things I can accomplish. I had a very miserable 2004, and I'm only
trying to get back on positive ground. You would somehow make that
unimportant? Certainly, it isn't important to you. But for the sake of monies
you claim I owe you still?
I've re-read your email a number of times and frankly, it appears as if
you want to balance your visit to my area with your guest spot at the
2003 MMC and make it into something you didn't enjoy. I know that you
had a decent time. I'd love to have you back someday, but you hang this
$100 dollars over my head. What was it for again?
I'm sure we can work it out.

I don't 'WANT' to hang anything over your head. I
WANTED you to keep your repeated promises, and I worry
greatly for the next batch of people who come to your
convention.
How revolting is it to get from you a response about
"monies I claim you owe me." This just reaffirms
everything I'd suspected about you.
I strongly suspect you could have found me on the
website you've posted at and are fully aware I have a
message board on, had you made the slightest effort,
'lost address,' or not.
I don't want anything from you, Rick. The fact that
you somehow manage to make yourself a victim after all
the broken promises to me is astounding. It's
downright creepy. The 100 dollars is not important,
and I wouldn't accept it from you at this time. But
I'm also absolutely never going to have further
dealings with you, and if asked about my experiences
with you, I will tell the truth.
Cons aren't fun trips for me, Rick. They're a
business. If you think staying in a disgusting hotel
the first night, and getting two hours of sleep the
second because no one had made reservations, and
eating dinner at a disgusting Denny's in the middle of
the night because your credit card was maxed is some
kind of vacation, you're sorely mistaken.
My patience and graciousness were sorely tested, but I
was still very courteous to you, LONG AFTER you
started breaking promises to me with every email. I
believe that I made every effort to be polite and
forgiving, but your response here just infuriates me.
YOU'RE the one who came up with the amount still owed,
and YOU'RE the one who promised it repeatedly.
Right now all I want is to let you know you can keep
the money. But I hope you'll give some thought to why
so many people were disappointed in your behavior.
By the way, I have never had a bad con experience
before or after yours. I learned a lot from this. I
hope you did, as well.

WHY would you only be claiming you were cheated out of $100 dollars IF you felt you were ACTUALLY cheated out of your airfare?

You claim to worry greatly for the next batch of people who come to my
convention?
Do you even know or care how condescending that sounds. From reading
your email --It is clear you had a bad experience and were being
considerate all along up until now. I'm very sorry that it wasn't as nice a
time for you both as you led us to believe initially.
Your hotel in Syracuse that night after the convention wasn't booked
prior because we assumed there would be PLENTY of space at any of the
hotels near the airport. We did not know that Bill & Hilary Clinton
would be in town. They tend not to make their travel plans public.

Gail, I honestly had forgotten. You last stopped by the MMC community
boards a freakin' year ago. And after my heart attack, and parental
elder problems of 2004 -- this matter simply slipped my mind.
I do agree that it is a matter that needs final closure. So either wait
for me to get your mailing address unearthed from my 2003 records, or
resend it. Either way I'll see that you get your $100 dollars.

I don't visit other websites, assuming you're talking about CBR. Also,
it is pertinent for you to be made aware that during 2004, I was
offline three time periods and dealing with health issues.

I'm not a victim. And frankly, neither are you. This matter is fixable.
That is, if you ever wanted it fixed. Telling me, "But I'm also
absolutely never going to have further dealings with you, and if asked about
my experiences with you, I will tell the truth." -- Makes me wonder if
that's a veiled threat. I hope it isn't.

Gail, I wish I could take more blame on this. I can't.
I see it as a matter of being very forgetful, to which you would know
is part of my medical condition. It has gotten me in trouble before with
people online because I have to quote everything they say in order to
respond to the conversations I get involved in with people. I've had a
number of online 'stalkers' over the years and have no problems with or
within areas which you seem to be overly concerned. As you want no more
contact from me, I will turn this matter over to someone that will
follow it out seeing that you get reimbursed. I am sorry that you had this
bad experience.

The difference between the two seems to be that J-Bolt does seem to have some actual mental issues. Aside from the egomania, I just think Rick is a sane prick.
The real difference is J-Bolt really believes he can pull it all together and make his project happen. When he was told that he'd have to start paying for help on his website, he stopped having SK work on it. Rick would have increased the workload, then done the NDA dance and followed up with threats of lawsuits instead of paying.
Dick went into this knowing he was going to screw people.

Christ, how do you tie your shoes in the morning? I've talked to smarter doorknobs.
FIRST, idiot, I never claimed you owed my husband's airfare. Not ONCE. You insinuated you'd pay it after you started lying about checks being in the mail, but I never believed you, nor did I ASK you to pay it. See? If you tell the truth, you don't have to change your story.
But TWICE you've said you paid my husband's airfare, and that IS a fucking lie. Correct? Did you pay it or not, Rick?
For once, tell the goddamned truth.

And oh, yes, my readers numbers will drop because a lying deadbeat no one can stand cheated me. I'm quite sure. Busiek, Waid, we're all doomed, DOOMED I say!
And what you might not realize, idiot, is that a judge can read these emails, every one, intact, in order, with no more than my allowing access to my account, which I'll happily do. Will you then come back and admit you're a lying deadbeat?

Not that Gail wants or needs outside verification, but for any latecomers here, let me make this clear:
Gail is telling the truth about her dealings with Olney. I know this to be an irrefutable fact. That she thought in 2003 that it would be a waste of energy to sue Olney for monies unpaid at that time is probably the luckiest break Olney could ever have gotten.

Just, you know, so everyone is clear, if person A says to person B, "I'm going to kill you. That's a statement not a threat," that's still a threat. Saying it isn't one doesn't make that so.
It's like contract law - an illegal clause in a contract isn't enforceable simply because it's on a signed contract. That's one of those things you can learn by talking to your fake lawyer.

We'll see what comes once you've been served, "Gail Simone" ... I don't have to show you a damn thing.
We'll also have to see how long it takes your reader numbers to drop. ;) You're not walking away unscathed after all this. And that is a statement not a threat.
Is the same person serving her the one that is coming to arrest me for being oh so mean (and honest) about you?
And are you honestly saying that somehow her readership drops due to any machinations of yours? That maybe TightLip will steal readers?

Let me state one more time: I DO NOT, HAVE NOT, and WILL NOT work for Rick Olney. He was asked to be a co-admin of a group I started when we thought he was ligit, 5 years ago, we kicked him out for proving himself otherwise 3 years ago...and I am only here to make sure people KNOW THAT.
Yes, as I recall -- You were offended when I stood up for an Indy comics publisher that Wizard had mistreated at their Chicago (was it?) convention. I was taken to task as a co-admin on your site by a moderator that happened to be a good friend of your wife.
Far as me being legitimate... I am. And all the tea in China isn't going to cause a bunch of lying Internet Comics bullies to half twist truths, make up revisionist history, stick their nose into my company's legal matters, or get them anything but their own legal headaches ... should they continue to act as such.
Did you want me to open up that whole sham printing matter you were involved in a bunch of months back? I can. Legally. Just say that word.

I'm not going to argue with you, Rick.
Frankly, two years of broken promises and weird
behavior from you is plenty.
'Veiled threat?' No. But if a friend of mine asks
what my experience was like, I will absolutely tell
them, and I'll add that it took TWO YEARS to get
reimbursed and only then because I gave up on the
final promised amount. Thankfully, in the law, truth
is the ultimate defense.
I don't care what your reasoning is. Most of this
happened BEFORE you had a heart attack, which of
course is news to me.
You asked me to come as a guest, promised much that
you didn't deliver, and I still didn't complain. Why?
Because I felt sorry for you. The fact is, Rick, I
HELD UP EVERY BIT OF MY END. I showed up, on time (you
guys were very late), I turned in my expenses, and
paid for my airfare and meals, and while others played
outside on the lawn, I stayed in my area because I
said I would. You want to make yourself look even
worse by trying to act wounded, that's your business.
Yes, I was more polite about it than I should have
been, but at that time, I thought you were
well-meaning but horribly organized. Now I believe
it's more than that.
To top it off, now you're saying I hadn't shown up at
your message board in a year, even though I have
emails from you as late as October, promising (as
usual) to pay this amount. I waited over and over
again while you took care of other, newer con
expenses. I think your right to pretend to be the
victim here is well past gone. You said you lost my
email, but you know full well that I have a board at
CBR.
Don't send me a check, and lose my email address
again, please. There's no 'fixing' two years of broken
promises and bad faith, and yes, I hope the next batch
of 'guests' fare better than we did.

CAREFUL! He said "legally!" That means he's had legal counsel. Probably. Well, maybe. Well, probably not. Well, almost certainly not. Well, no, he's a lying fuck, so don't worry about it.
Waid - for what it's worth, and I (at this point, I imagine) am not one of the targets of Mr. Olney's escalating madness - I saw that picture and I literally said, out loud, "WOW." I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Even to a third party that image struck me as a direct and obvious threat.

On another note, anyone besides me who honestly, genuinely read the "iKill" picture as a threat, please pipe up.
Hey, Ronee, be sure to let us know when his e-mails show up. And who his lawyer is, and if it's the same girl who used to help out Encyclopedia Brown.

Mark, to be honest, I took the image to be a response to my post where I gave the web address for the forms to check Olney's military status. It's a pompous blowhard response trying to prove he's an honorally discharged Marine. I took it as a pathetic answer and more proof that he's lying about his military status, not as a threat. No true Marine would be proud of an image that shames the Corps.
But I'd understand where someone would take it as a threat, even if I didn't.

Gail,
You are being reasonably unreasonable. I'm not going to argue with you
either.
A lot happened to me in 2004. All learning experiences. An earlier than
now reminder might've cleared this all up. Life isn't always tied up in
neat lil bundles of accomplishment for the rest of us.
I also plan to tell the truth if ever asked about you. Frankly though,
I'm confused. You've reminded me of a loose end and it seems you plan
to hold it over my head for eternity. So I guess upon finality on this
matter, I'll be telling anyone ever asking about a future guest spot
that it is too confusing a matter to get you back here. You mention emails
from last year...I have no memory of them. I do, however, save
everything so I'll have it looked into.
You keep hinting or implying with your veiled remarks like, "I hope the
next batch
of 'guests' fare better than we did." I asssume that you're talking
about Scott. I thought it was very nice that he was able to attend.
I've forwarded the matter to someone that will see that its handled
finally. I should done this early on. Again, apologies.

Oi.
But really. I don't think Gail's, or Mark's, or Kurt's sales numbers are at all likely to drop because of all this (more likely? they'll go up). I mean, unless RO is going to have folks in all the comic shops in America standing at the doors saying "Oh, don't buy any books from that person! They were mean to Rick Olney online!"
Gimme a break! If anything, but being the stand-up folks they are in this circus, more people are probably going "Hmmm. I haven't tried TitleX that Gail, or Mark, or Kurt is writing. But I like them and the way they think. I'll pick up a copy next week!"

Mr. Olney can call people trolls so often because he knows what being a troll is like, as he is, quite obviously, one himself.
And I'm not talking about the internet asshole, post obnoxiously to message boards, take delight in the misery and wasted time of others sense (though he obviously is one of those as well).

UH, this is me, not responding TO RICK, but setting the record straight to people listening TO HIM (Has to be done, I mean, everyone beleived I was working for him a few hours ago, gaaaa!)
Rick was kicked out of the SPA SPECIFICALLY for THREATENING Joanne Mutch in open forum against our charter's guidelines. Semantics of the rest do not matter, we've already been THROUGH the how and why of what happened there, pages ago.
As for the PRINTING thing: Last winter, I made the mistake of beleiving a new POD printer was going to be a breakthrough for the SPA. I sent him jobs, others sent him jobs. He turned out to be a worse scammer than Rick Olney, his name was Brad Linder, and he stole money and dissappeared. I still have VOICE RECORDINGS of the guy on my answering machine due to this: Rick threatened to go after me because he beleived I WAS Brad Linder.
Oddly enough, and I noticed this a bit back, it was a "Rusty" that introduced and recommended Brad Linder....now...who was it that mentioned a rusty in relation to Olney just a bit back?

Earlier in this thread I indicated that dignified doesn't quite fit Gail. This is because she seems to approach everthing in life in the same way a 10 year old approaches christmas presents. Not dignified, but a lot of fun to watch.
Integrity, on the other hand, is a word I would use multiple times in describing Gail Simone. She has a lot of integrity, and honesty, an honor, and when she is not being silly I would take her word on anything any day of the week. No doubt in my mind.
Olney, on the other hand, if he would tell me I am bald I would run to the bathroom to see if my hair was growing back.

1) Thank you, each and every single one of you. Even you, Tricky. I know at long last who my friends are.
2) I spent a wonderful 3 hours in a small press chat last night. I got no less than 3 paying -- mind you, paying -- assignments in that time. I also discovered just how much my presence and my contributions were missed, and exactly how reviled you are in creative circles. Half the reason no-one communicated openly with me in the past 2 years was because of my association with you, Tricky. The other half was because they didn't know when would be the proper time to approach me after all we'd been thru.
3) I found that image to be both offensive and threatening. I will now be guarding my precious children with even more vigor than ever before.

Did you want me to open up that whole sham printing matter you were involved in a bunch of months back? I can. Legally. Just say that word.
Dear God, this man gets everything wrong.
I am who he is referring to as "good friend of your wife". I met Ian first and then met his wife through the boards, and at MMC, I met them both in person and enjoyed both of their company very much, (especially when we were paying for our own meals at that icky Pizza joint where there weren't enough tables for us all to sit at)
First of all, his comments were NOT defending Indy publishers. He made a blanket statement that ANY small press creator that goes to Wizard World are complete idiots, blah blah blah, then went on and on and on. I removed the entire statement because it insulted everyone on the SPA boards and the LAST thing that small pressers and Indy publishers needed at the time was another reason for Wizard to cut us out of their shows. If I remember correctly, Wizard had just cut down the size of their small press area a month or maybe even weeks before this went down.
Then as I decided to post my response to his thread in a private mod only section of the site, I knew if I emailed him, my email would somehow end up everywhere as he did that all the time, (then complained if you did it to him, sheesh!) I told him his actions were rude and to think before posting from now on.
And guess what he did...
yep.. he EXPLODED into this tirade of.. hell, I still don't know what his point was. Then, he started emailing OTHER people and telling them evil and scary things about me. He even went to far to drag my husband into it even though my husband had nothing to do with anything.

And who his lawyer is, and if it's the same girl who used to help out Encyclopedia Brown.
I use to love the Encyclopedia Brown books growing up. I thought I was one of the few that knew about it since never hear anyone talk about it. Does that series still exist?
Give Onley credit though, he is a skilled troll. He doesn't answer anything directly, he does a great job of dodging and diverting, usually via insults. If you read his comments as a whole, despite the number of them, he has not really provided any useful information of any kind. About the only thing he has proven, however indirectly, is his lawyer is a myth and the threats are meaningless. But then for his goals of avoiding payment, there does have to be teeth to anything he writes. For the shortterm, that is probably a good thing, but if he is trying to establish a long lasting business, he basically just keeps shooting himself in the foot over and over and over and over. Its now reached the point of simply being pathetic.

JoAnne, here's the story I heard:
His post was in support of one small press creator who got treated like shyte by the WW show. All he did, according to his words, was defend small press creators and say they deserved better treatment. He blamed it all on the fact that Ian was trying to 'get in bed' (notice the habitual use of sexual innuendo?) with WW.
Mind you, he said this while treating professionals like an inconvenience rather than honored guests.
Remember, Tricky, you called and talked to me about all this, while 'reading' the emails you were getting. Which, by the way, your responses at the time do not in the least match what Gail copied here, including your -- as you put it - 'polite' emails. He wants to start a publishing company on the back of:
1) A string of creators and media stories indicating that he's a deadbeat who does not pay.
2) Public bad will with known creators such as Gail Simone, Mark Waid et al.
3) Posting clearly threatening remarking and images (such as that marine image)
4) Making homophobic remarks on public message boards, insulting various other people.
That's one fucked up business plan.

I removed the entire statement because it insulted everyone on the SPA boards and the LAST thing that small pressers and Indy publishers needed at the time was another reason for Wizard to cut us out of their shows.
As I recall correctly, you were chasing after Wizard trying to get them to feature your book in their mag.

Let me tell you something.
You want someone to make an appearance, you find out their needs.
You can't meet those needs upfront, you don't have them out.
having worked behind the scenes of a con as a guest relations cooridantor, I can't imagine that this isn't a standard when dealing with guests. When you want someone to come to your show, you treat them like you want them there., and you make sure that they are taken care of. If you can't do that, you've got no business running a show, period.

Geez...with the way the threats, insults, and other mind-numbing responses are coming, I feel like I've time-warped back to the late 90's on Comicon. I remember that day very well, when Buckminster Futter, Fanboy2000, and a few others made Rick snap. And I mean literally snap. You could see the anger getting more intense with each post.
And then it happened again when people questioned his statement there that ORCA was a tax-deductible organization. That later changed to "working through the Salvation Army" and never once was any proof given to back up what Rick stated...same as the "lawyer" 'Stephen Harris,' who I remind everyone had been proven to be Rick posting under a sock-puppet.
The next meltdown occured with me involved, when I questioned his ass-kissing of CrossGen. He stated on his boards how Marvel & DC did not help him get books for ORCA anymore, but CrossGen did, so he would back them in anything they did and attack anyone talking bad about CG (paraphrasing here of course. Man I wish I saved those posts/emails.) Someone on the Figma boards posted a joke picture of Mark Alessi, that offended Rick, and when I confroonted him with hios statements, saying he's only backing them because of his "what have you done fo rme lately" attitude and posts, he decided to attack me, delete and edit my posts/responses on his board, and basically get everyone in a tight-knit mess-board to see what a loon he was. And after a month of thinking the matter dropped, he starts attacking me again for the past replies, and gets himself banned from the boards, where he the proceeds to threaten the board owner and moderator with lawsuits, while begging to be let back in.
History seems to be repeating itself somewhat.
And I know I will probably regret this, but since everyone here knows how Rick distorts reality, I just want to ask what this means...???
Glenn Barbis is OUT OF THE CLOSET! Tell them some of your comeback kid stories, why doncha?
Are you calling me gay? That will be a total shock to me and my wife of 20 years!
"Comeback stories?" I've never really been away. And 'kid"??? I'm 40. I try and act like it on occasion, too.
Rick...I've told you this once before, and I say it again...get some help. Step away from the keyboard, try and repair the damage done by paying the people you owe, and go spend quality time with your family. If you really do have the heart problems you've espoused for years, this will all be better for you.
Somehow tho' I just know this will only bring about more questionable statements, behavior, and threats.

Well, not that you are smart enough to understand this -- but -- Mr. & Mrs. "Gail Simone" were only placed in that position on Saturday night because Syracuse is 70 miles away and we didn't know (ahead of time) that Bill & Hilary Clinto were adressing SU's graduation that weekend. So, yes, hotels near the airport were heavily booked. And my one credit card used for that sort of expense WAS tapped because of things like paying for the $400 dollar+ lunches for ALL our guests, and vendors...along with buying Tim Tobolski's roundtrip train ticket from Buffalo to Utica, where he was picked up and driven 10 miles further East in the same alleged (By "Gail Simone") stinky car belonging to Mr. Kininger.
So you know further -- I didn't handle the reservations. Which isn't to say that they were mis-handled, because they were not.
We had a pretty neat event that day! Reagrdless of what all these lying shitheels say. lol

A little lesson in lying. The key to a good lie is to mix it with truth and to keep it simple. The reason for this is so that the lie is easy to track and keep consistant. Your lies are so frequent, so complicated and such a general mess you keep losing track of what you have said, haven't said, might have said, or though about doing but then didn't do it. If you want to keep your house of cards up, follow this advice: KISS - keep it simple stupid.
By the way, don't play poker. I notice that when you don't have a real fact based response to people's comments, you devolve into insults. These kind of tells don't help your house of lies stand. So I repeat, Keep It Simple Stupid.

Now... the conference was being held on a college campus, so room & board was covered for that. But we paid upfront -- and I mean WE PAID (and made the reservations) for the plane fare coming and going, BEFORE the con. We made sure they were met on time, and got to the airport on time. I forget what the departure scheduling was, but if we knew that they would not be able to depart the same day as the end of the con, we would also have covered that night in the hotel for them.
And this wasn't a rich organization. But guess what, Mr. Smarty-Pants? That con, the one I chaired, was the first one the organization had held that actually made money. My father was a Marine. My brother was a Marine. My uncle was a Marine who died on Okinawa. I know of no Marine who would engage in the sort of behavior exhibited here.
Moreover, the "iKILL" image did look like a threat to me.
I also cannot even being to fathom why any Marine would call people plebes, or why any Marine would discuss getting his stripes "on his back". The word plebe specifically refers to a first year student at the US Military or Naval Academy. It is often used affectionately as well, and the academy has a website for parents of students that even uses the word "plebe" in its web address.
No Marine talks of getting his stripes "on his back". I don't even know what that means.
Using the limited information available, I have also been unable to find anyone in the United States Marine Corps public records matching the name Rick or Richard Olney in the age range, or in the geographical area he is supposed to live in from information gleaned from this website. I would be willing to do a more extensive search if anyone has more specific information, such as birth date or full name.
The only Richard Olney I could find was born in 1945 or 1946 and does not match Rick Olney's description.
While he may have been a Marine, at this point, I tend to doubt it. Has anyone considered the age he claims to be and the age he would have to have been given statements regarding service in Viet Nam? Do the math...
If he were, it would be of interest to know why he is no longer a Marine. It should be possible to find out why he was dischared.

I call them as I see them, Tim. Yourself included. If this banter gets you off your feeling sorry for yourself ass and gets you back to creating then so be it.
That was all I needed.
Pardon me, everyone, he had this coming.
Feeling sorry for myself?
Let's talk about feeling sorry for one's self.
Your supposed heart attack. How long did you wallow in pity over that one? How long did you milk it as an excuse for canceling venues and fobbing off work on your 'growing' website? How many emails did you send out asking for a touch of compassion with your already-terminal payments?
That was the better of a year, Blubber.
Then came your parents and their hard-times. Your siblings refused to help, so it fell upon your ever-responsible shoulders. More canceling, more pity, more non-payments.
You even used your mother's death as an excuse to drive up your sympathy quota. Same with the other deaths in your family. That gave you reason to act like a fucking asshole towards everyone who befriended you, worked for you, supported you.
Feeling sorry for myself? You fucking tiny-minded piece of shit. You demand everyone take pity upon your sorry existence. They're not your friends if they demand you live up to your promises instead of letting you mope in peace until you find someone new to fuck over.
Feeling sorry for myself? You fucking turd, my children were beaten by their mother, punched in the nose and slapped upside the head. If anything, I feel guilty for not seeing it sooner than I did. She was determined to be 'mentally unfit' and 'emotionally unstable'; I had them in counseling for almost a year to stop the screaming nightmares. I don't feel sorry for myself, Blubber.
I feel like I allowed Manson to watch my children. If anything, I despise myself for lack of action.
You try living with that, Blubber.
I worked myself nearly to death over the past few months so no-one would feel sorry for me. I tried to earn enough of a living so I wouldn't have to depend on public assistance, hand-outs, child support.
Unlike you.
You think your comment was supportive?
That was an insult disguised as a compliment. No lower than I've come to expect from you. Gotta get that dig in, no matter the cost.
Doesn't it gall you that dozens upon dozens upon dozens of people are willing too contribute to a benefit to pay people you owe fucking money to? I've got people lined up to assist just to spite you.
'Most hated man in comics'.
You're neither a 'man' nor in 'comics'.

I could care less about Gail's $100. Its the history of non-payment and the current actions that are of importance. All Gail's notes prove is you have a cronic problem of meeting payments while blowing smoke up people's ass about actions you have no intention of taking.
For the record again, he keeps claiming to have paid my husband's airfare. He is what the Marines call, "A liar and an idiot."
He paid me, MONTHS after the promised date, the majority of my own ticket. That is the extent of money's he reimbursed us for.
After two years of trying to get the balance and hearing his 'check's in the mail' bullshit, I told him to stuff it and stay away from me.
Contrary to Tcj's comments, I kept it to myself (except for a few friends, most of whom were there and knew exactly what an incompetent moron Rick is) until he started knocking the reputation of Chuck Dixon, Val Staples, and other actual pros he'd stiffed.
Now he's decided I'm public enemy number one as an endless parade of folks show up here to say that they TOO were cheated by Rick.
That's the timeline.

What I know is that you apparently didn't make Hotel reservations, big no-no. As soon as you had confirmation that they were coming, you make the reservations.
You promised the guests dinner and couldn't pay for it? You should have had the money for guest incidentals appropriated from your budget LOOONG before you invited guests. Incidentals would include food & any expenses that might arise while the creator was on site. (i.e.- Steve Rude was at our con and he was sick, so part of our incidental budget was spent getting medicine and hot tea for him.) your guests shouldn't have to track you down to get money back from you that they never should have had to spend in the first place.

From Stormwatch: TA, I believe #2, on the basics of self-defense.
"Go for the joints. Don't stop until they're dead."
I remember this so clearly because I heard a little while after reading it that someone actually GOT this advice in a self-defense class.

I have no stake in this issue, other than a dislike of seeing people getting screwed over, but as an outside observer, my impressions are this:
1---This guy has no money, for a lawyer or to pay the people he owes. I get the idea he's probably typing his crazy posts on a computer set up in his Mom's sewing room.
2---He's scared to death. He makes ridiculous threats because he's gotten himself in an untenable position, knows he's in over his head and is flailing around for a handhold. He's a little boy who's been caught in a lie, and just keeps compounding the problem with more lies.
3---None of you are going to see a dime out of this guy unless he's forced to file bankruptcy and maybe in a few years you'll receive pennies on the dollar of what you're owed. He's obviously out of the business (at least) at this point, so everybody's lost something here. I know he's an infuriating asshole, but stop letting him wind you up. That seems to be the only thing that he has going on right now.

From a sociological point of view this thread is fascinating as I feel it is quite emblematic of the best and worst qualities of the internet.
Sociological viewpoint?! Mr. Carthan get off of it. The internet is the only thing protecting Mr. Olney's person.
However, as someone who's been filing incorporation papers for a friend's company, from a legal viewpoint I find this extremely fascinating. If Mr. Olney has apparently been conducting business all these years, ostensibly collecting money from ticket buyers and sponsors and what not; and he's been contracting individuals and business to do work for him, I have to ask:
- What is the legal/corporate entity under which he conducts business?
- When he collects money whose account does it go into?
- When he "pays" money whose account does it come out of?
If Ms. Bourgeois or Mr. Tobolski and others were hired by him to do work on a regular basis, NYS DoL might be sorely pressed to construe it as an employee employer relationship and not an independent contractor relation (I have much experience with this). In that case Mr. Olney would be found not only in breach of contract but also of tax fraud because when some one works for you you're liable for a portion of their taxes. And remember, Dept of Labour can conclude that an employee-employer relation exists/existed regardess of any contracts signed by the two parties if the terms of hire meet certain specific criteria.
- Is TLE registered with the NY Dept of State as a business entity? If not, there are a slew of violations right there.
I'd be very curious to find out.

Looking at the pattern of behavior here, I think I have his tell nailed.
Anytime someone makes a claim against him, he either responds with an insult or his own interpretation of those claims. When he responds with an insult, then your claim is probably correct and you caught him in a lie. If he responds with his version, then there is an inconstitancy but its something he believes to be truth.

There's no question that when he's proven to be a liar, he spams the board to push the posts down from active viewing.
When Chuck busted him on the Dixon boards, suddenly he started a bunch of idiotic topics to push them down.
He's done the same thing here twice, both times when I posted his own words from emails, so his moronic pathetic lying behavior was caught.
Even when being a loser, he's following the troll playbook.
