View Full Version : Pick your teams...

This is an old staple of comics message boards. I figured I'd consolidate it down for the YABSers.

Basically, select a super-team lineup you want to see. Maybe permanent. Maybe temporary.

Here are mine:

Avengers
Captain America
Wolverine
Ms. Marvel
Spider-Man
Human Torch
Hulk
Ghost Rider

Fantastic Four
Black Panther
Silver Surfer
Nova
Medusa

Justice League
Superman
Batman
Robin
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Dr. Fate
Adam Strange
Steel

Justice Society
Green Lantern
Flash
Wildcat
Power Girl
Thunderbolt

Teen Titans
Nightwing
Supergirl
Black Alice
Beast Boy
Toyman (The MIA Japanese kid, Hiro Okamura)

X-Men (hahaha!)
Marvel Girl (The leader)
Beast (The advisor)
Polaris (A little nutty)
Bullseye (The field expert who wants to kill like crazy)
Taskmaster (The over-reaching schemer)
Namor (Insists he is not a mutant)
Deadpool (Eats popcorn and causes chaos)
Wolverine (The team's deadbeat dad)
... and Franklin Richards (Just to make things extra awkward for Rachel)

Being a woman of color myself, I decided that would be the theme of my team. Specifically, the color green.

1. She-Hulk: She's a lawyer, she's got muscle, and she's green.

2. Velocity: She has super speed, kevlar enhanced skin, and she wears a predominantly green costume.

3. Polaris: She has powerful magnetic abilities and green hair.

4. Gamorra: Virtually unbeatable in hand to hand combat, and she's green.

5. Jade: Green Lantern powers. And she's green.

6. Negative Woman: Contains the negative energy spirit of the original Doom Patrol's negative man. And she wears a green costume.

7. Anne Shirley: A red-headed orphan girl on Prince Edward Island in the early 1900s. She has pluck and determination, is a good schoolteacher, writer of short stories, and has some spying experience as a result of her activities in WW1 Europe.

Bullseye and Taskmaster aren't mutants! Your list is flawed! FLAWED!

Bullseye was said to be for a number of years.

Agent Helix

That's quite strange, because he isn't one.

My Alpha Flight:

Vindicator [Heather Hudson, original suit] (leader)
Puck [Eugene Judds]
Sasquatch
Box [Madison Jeffries]
Northstar
Aurora
Windshear
Snowbird
Talisman
Shaman

I'd let James MacDonald stay dead, which probably makes me in the minority of Alpha Flight fans.

If I had to trim it to seven, I'd probably drop Heather (although she would remain as a support character back at base. Puck would take over field leadership.), Shaman (again, he would become a support character, rather than a member of the field team), and one of the twins (no preference, having both can be kind of redundant sometimes. Northstar would probably be the easier one to drop, arrogant as he is.).

Superman

Hal Jordan

Gambit
Red Sonja
Theo Huckstable
Alf

Bull Shannon from Night Court

Since this team seems increasingly unlikely, given the new DCU, here's mine:

The Monitors
Charged with, well, monitoring the ebb and flow of Hypertime, they are:
Harbinger
Booster Gold
Chunk
Wild Card (the former Joker's Daughter, now armed with an H-Dial)
Speedy-2 (the Earth-2 Speedy)
Pariah
Moon Maiden

with rotating members including:
Amethyst
Omac (the "real" one)
Krypto
and a young Per Degaton

Did I mention that they travel through Hypertime using an elevator in the back of one of Booster's Restaurants that's built out pieces of the Time Trust's time machine?

Mike.

Hm.

Might as well toss in Triumph and Waverider.

Personally, I'd want to see Triumph rag on Pariah.

Oooh, I dunno. Pariah and Triumph both rate pretty high on the "whiny sucktards" meter.

Me, I kinda imagine Triumph as Moon Maiden's nemesis, sorta a "There Can Be Only ONE Lamely-Retconned JLA Member!" kinda deal.

Waverider's too confusing/uber to be a useful team member, although I did have an idea about how the Monitors could stumble upon the Ultimate Secret of the Monarch's Suit of Armor.

Knows what the "H" on the H-Dials really stands for,
Mike.

Is it a sideways "I"?

Blonde Justice, made up of Supergirl and Wonder Girl.

No, it's not really a team. Yes, I mention it every time I get a chance, because I want to will this book into existence. No, I won't stop.

Thank you.

Ah, but it would be if you added Power Girl to the mix. And then you could call it Blonde Girl Justice.

Seconded.

That is GOLD!

Thanks.

BTW, the "H-Dial?" I always kinda figured that the "H" stood for "Hypertime," and that the transformations were literally the result of nearby hypertimelines being temporarily "tangled up" with the main branch.

Hypertime was a cool concept (sigh),
Mike.

Ditto again.

This concept just gets better and better. And you don't need to limit it to the H-Dial. Superboy had a hypertime-jumping jacket that got shredded. There's no reason a dupe couldn't be built or the original reconsituted.

A multipowered heroine with ties to the golden and silver ages and a zany out-of-the-box approach to crimefighting. Wow. Yeah. You've definitely got something there. If only somebody on these boards was in a position to do something about it.
