Wow...this looks fantastic and I just can not wait at all to get my hands on this.
I especially loved the last bit:
"Black Bolt, what do you have to say?"
I can't wait to see Bendis' take on certain key moments in Marvel History and how the Illuminati deal with all those events and threats.
Oh, And Jimmy Cheung totally takes it to the next level, he really goes to town on this.
This will unquestionably be another smash hit for Bendis, Brian Reed will certainly climb yet another step towards becoming a huge writer, and after Cheung's amazing Young Avengers work, Illuminati will finally put the artist on the well-deserved superstar status.

I honestly cannot wait for this.
I think it'll be an interesting book seeing Brian fit the Illuminati pieces into place within existing continuity and I hear he'll delve into the actual Beyonder from Secret Wars which is cool. Hopefully that Beyonder isn't the same one from the 2nd Secret Wars with horrible disco jump suit.

The last bit with Black Bolt is awesome. The preview is great. Hopefully Bendis will keep that level of quailty in this mini.

Looks interesting. I think I'm sold (until something un-sells me at least). Though imo, the last bit with Black Bolt seemed kinda hockey, and as far as I know Black Bolt usually doesn't show emotion like that. Seems very promising though.

I like the Cheung art, I like Skrulls, and I have no real objection to either Bendis or this cast of characters.
But.
That is one of the silliest entries I've ever seen in a superhero comic.

I agree, but honestly up until the "Black Bolt, what do you have to say?" line (where it was just too much) I LOVED the silly-superheroey-over-the-top-ness of it.

This looks really good. Until now it didn't dawn upon me just how dangerous and powerful this group is. I don't think anyone could take this team if they decided to go evil, it would most likely require the entire might of the MU heroes to do it. This thought makes me want World War Hulk even more cause this is the team he's most likely going to have to take on.

That's actually a Jack Kirby moment...he's been doing close ups on eyes since the early Xmen with Magneto, and Dr. Doom since at least FF #57...and lots of others as well!!!

The preview looks very good. The art is especially strong (which is not a big surprise).
Looks like a fun mini.

Bendis does overdo it but at the same time I think it pretty much matches the dialogue of that era of comics.

Well well well, this does look great. The art is fantastic. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Just a shame that its only five issues.. I could really get behind this as an ongoing. Nice to see Reed in action instead of just moping around.

I am a little bit confuzed about the illuminati, because didnt they do a one shot of this right before the New Avengers Civil War arc? Why are they doing another one? What is it going to be about? How is it different from the other one?

Why are they doing another one?Because there's more story to tell about the Illuminati.
What is it going to be about? The Illuminati's involvement in other events of the MU.
How is it different from the other one? It's a different story.
I can't wait to see what they do during Secret Wars.

The one shot only covered a couple of their meetings. There are tons of times where it only makes sense (thanks to the retcon) that they would meet up for example Secret War, Kree/Skrull War, after Onslaught and others.

I'll curb my Bendis-hate for a moment to just ask:
Where is Black Panther? Does this take place before his introduction into the Marvel Universe?

Yes, that's right. But didn't Namor walk away, too? I guess his "resignation" occurred after he had already participated in a few events.
I need to read Illuminati #1 again...

Just to sort of reiterate what Rahul said, T'Challa declined membership when the group formed, immediately after the Kree/Skrull War. Namor didn't walk away until right before Civil War. So there are a several years (decades by our count) between the two events.

Might be something hard-wired into his system, genetically. Inhumans were created by the Kree as soldiers to fight the Skrull, after all.

There is no delay. The series will ship every 6 weeks.

my ony thing is that i dont really git Namor being in the team
my ony thing is that i dont really git Namor being in the team
I'm sure Namor wonders that question himself everytime he's in the room with these guys.
But the fact is, he's often the voice of reason. It's almost funny to think that he's a warrior king in a room filled with some of the brightest minds on the planet. Nonetheless he's shown himself time and time again to often be the most pragmatic sensible person in the room.
The Illuminati needed Namor. It ended up being that simple.

If they'd just get Black Bolt some kind of texting device (PDA, cell phone, anything), they might not need Namor. ;)
But yeah, I'd say that he's probably the most grounded among the other intellectuals (aside from, possibly, Black Bolt), who may lose sight of the "human" equation when dealing with larger cosmic issues.

I don't know.
Time and time again the Inhumans have really shown themselves to be little more than a bunch of elegantly clad crazy inbred hicks. I wonder if Black Bolt doesn't escape the stigma purely because his lack of speech prevents him from showing us that side of himm.
