For those not in the know TNA last week was my top viewing show. Its a shame its only 1 hour for now. It deserves 2 hours cleary. It could be that damn good.

Heres some news...and something Royal will find interesting.

- Samoa Joe was diagnosed with with a severe second degree sprain of the MCL yesterday. The injury likely took place in a match taped for next week's Impact. No word on if he will work the UWF shows this weekend but one would assume he won't. He will definitely work the Impact taping on Monday.

- Goldberg will be an announcer for Showtime's new MMA promotion which debuts on 2/10 at the DeSoto, MS Civic Center with Frank Shamrock vs. Cesar Gracie as the main event.

- Jackie Gayda Haas gave birth to her first baby, a girl named Kayla, today. Congratulations to her and Charlie Haas.

Onto TNA...

The Good

The show opens backstage as Kurt Angle is pissed. He's screaming he wants Samoa Joe and that he can't allow his history as a wrestler be marked by a submission to Samoa Joe. He threatens to kill Jeremy Borash.

In the ring is Bobby Roode who is getting booed. He always gets what he wants and he wants Eric Young to sign with his stable. Of course Kurt's in his " don't f-ck with me zone " and demands Roode leave his ring as he runs down Samoa Joe , wanting another match damn it !

Joe pops up all smiles as he taunts Angle with the same thing Kurt said to him about no more matches. Kurt flips out and destroys Don West pleasing us all. If only he'll do it each week as people make Kurt finally get off of him.

Jim Cornette comes out to be the other annoucer and its like up grading from a Nissen Pathfinder to a new Cadillac. I'm sure many of us are pleased that Jim Cornette will now annouce tonights show with Mike Teney.

In ring we get Ron Killens vs Abyss. We see a rundown of what happened at the PPV and Abyss is still NWA World Champion. They hype that things are brewing between Abyss & Jim Mitchell. Decent opener as Killens and Abyss really don't have that much chemistry. Sting watches from the rafters.

Backstage Patrica interviews Christian and Tomco. Christian demands a rematch against Abyss and claims that Abyss has til tonights show or he'll reveal his secret. Then noise is heard as Miss Brooks is demanding Eric Young sign Roode's contract , as out runs Kurt Angle !

Kurt Angle lays out Young on his persuit of Samoa Joe. Like some Sienfeld plot I loved how Russo had the 2 run in and intersect the storylines like this.

The funny Paparzzi Championship Series continues as Kevin Nash is making the guys do the Bob Backlund pushup series. The entire thing is funny as Nash has Sonjay Dutt shaking his ass in Jay Lethals face as he does pushups and swearing Bob Backlund authorized this kinda contest. Then slapping a " Kick Me " sign on Dutts back. Low-Ki continues his straight man act as he does his pushups.

Finally Lethal wins this contest as you can imagine. Pure sillyness at its best. They should have Nash , Shelley and Starr mocking DX. Not the lame VKM who cleary suck.

Petey Williams comes out to face Christopher Daniels in a no contest. Cornette pushes the problems Jerry Lynn and Daniels are having and after several minutes , out comes Chris Sabin who wants to lay out Daniels with the X-Title. But Jerry Lynn stops it and Christopher Daniels believes that Lynn is the guy who wanted to clock him. So he nails Lynn with a kick. This leads to words as Lynn and Daniels look close to going at it !

Backstage Kurt Angle is seen ankle locking a poor referee as everyones beggin him to release it. He wants Samoa Joe damn it ! He wants a rematch !!

This leads to him hitting the ring as he drags the poor ring girl inside the ring. His foot on her hair swearing he'll break her ankle unless Joe gives him the rematch. Cornette gets in the ring pleading with Kurt to let her go. He then says that he can have Joe next week in a tag match. Angle agrees but he says he'll hurt Cornette if the match doesn't happen singles wise after it.

Backstage the last moments of AMW unfold. James Storm says he's sorry but he's a guy who believes in America. He's back to drinkin the beer as usual and tonight AMW will get the Tag Titles again. Jim Cornette claims he lost count how many times they've been tag champions.

The match with LAX is short and sweet. We see some good brawling from AMW/LAX. I'll miss AMW because cleary James Storm/Chris Harris were 2 guys who were paired up when TNA 1st started because they needed tag teams. And AMW rode baby. They became THE TAG TEAM for TNA. Becoming the best team for years.

James Storm is the guy who goes heel. Because cleary he's the least talented member of AMW. Harris is the guy who's flashed the ability as a singles star and TNA knows that he really doesn't need to be a heel in this to get over. Petey Williams gets in Storm's face backstage as well for turning on his pal Chris Harris , breaking up AMW in the process.

In the end we see Christian and Tomco ready to reveal Abyss's dark secret as he comes out angry. The Big Silent Monster destroys Tomco and Christian for awhile til the numbers gets him. They leave finally as referees show em the door. Sting comes out after Abyss has destroyed the ref's and tries to kill Cornette.

Sting makes him let Cornette go as he grabs Jim Mitchell. But its all a ruse as Sting takes the NWA World Title. Abyss looks on disturbed and pulls his hair angry. The monster was betrayed. Daaaammmnn.

The Bad

VKM offer a $ 1 million dollar challenge to Vince McMahon and DX. Of course how they even seriously got a million dollars is beyond me. Lammmmmeeeeeee...

OVERALL: **** Outta 5. The matches maybe short as hell but the storylines rock. AMW have broken up , Jerry Lynn's coming back to ring action ( odds are to be ready for Rob Van Dam come May/June) , Kurt Angle's tearing TNA apart for Samoa Joe and Sting betrays Abyss ! Wow.....TNA Impact delivered the goods on some things.

good show tonight.

hulk angle was scary good tonight. he was just on a path of destruction tonight.

loved the nash skit again. wwe really needs to take notes on what's funny.

sad to see amw fall out like they did. the first amw match i saw was the six sides of steel match with triple x aka daniels and skipper. awesome match.

line of the night:

nash: ok, lethal. you're first.

lethal: why? why do i gotta be first?

nash: cause you're black.

The Angle stuff was really well-done tonight. Don West really sold that ankle lock!

I guess I'm getting in the habit of saying this every week, but the Kevin Nash stuff is great. Just great. I loved the bit where someone asked Sonjay Dutt if he was going to stick his butt in Senshi's face, and Senshi just glared at Dutt. That's staying in character!

I'd say the best thing about Impact right now is that everyone is doing what they do best. Nash gets to be funny, Angle gets to be the bad-ass psycho, Cornette got to do a bunch of commentary, Senshi gets to glare at people. Good times.

My brother and I used to joke-- back in the nineties-- that if all Stone Cold did was walk around and randomly stunner people, it'd be great. If all Randy did as a "correspondent" for The Cutting Edge was RKO people, it'd be fun too...but today I discovered a new greatness:

Kurt Angle randomly ankle locking people.

If that's all he ever does, I'll still be happy.

Abyss vs Killings wasn't bad.

Cage on the mic, always a good time.

Cornette on the mic, always showmanship.

Daniels vs Williams was cool, and I'm excited to see Lynn back in action.

LAX playing the roles up to excellence again. I dug how Homicide snuck in for the pin after Storm blasted Harris in the face. Storm looks like he can pull off a singles career real well. Harris is a former NWA World champ, too.

Best show in months.

Joe's gotta drop weight, Angle still needs time off. I think those were major factors in their matches.

Harris has wrestled for the NWA World title and was someone TNA was high on as a singles talent. But he's never won it. Harris has flashed his ability but TNA re-paired AMW for one last run when they got on Spike TV last year.
