What's this thing with friends? As of this moment it says:

You see under each headline how it lists a person who submitted the story? If you like, you can click on that person to bring up their profile. From there, you can friend them.

I'm not sure there's much in the way of functionality for that right now, but further down the road, it can be used to help you sort through all the stories on the site to find, say, only the ones your friends voted on. It's not a MySpace kind of thing.
