And with that, I must add the phrase 'Cheese & Crackers' in my daily vernacular. :D

Seriously? I LMAO'd @ Cheese and Crackers. That's RIDICULOUS. Plus, Thanos being handcuffed and taken in by police should shut down any Drax-ripping-Thanos'-heart-out dissenters. Forget about beings engineered with the sole purpose of destroying Thanos; The NYPD worked him!
Peace.

I disagree as strongly as humanly possible.

In my mind, this is defintley canon.

Personally, I'm curious to find out what happened to those two cops. We should get a mini series with them.

It would be the coolest thing ever if Annihilation ends with Thanos swooping in to save the day in the Thanos Copter.

Afterwards, Thanos can bring along 2 NYC cops to haul Annihilus off the the negative zone prison.

Thanos is like Robin Williams. You start off as a crazy comedian and end up playing dramatic roles in movies... and are still crazy.

haha, ok, do the miniseries, i've changed my mind...

i think this needs to somehow be retconned into the marvels series next time a tpb print comes out...

Alan2099
12-14-2006, 03:06 PM
Why retcon it? Everybody has bad days. I can just see Thanos whining about it now.

"Spilled ketchup al over my costume, forgot to do my maintenece so my interstellar warfleet broke down and I had to use the *groan* Thanos copter, dropped the cosmic cube twice, make matter worse, I got the dates mixed up on my calander and accidentally planned the whole thing on one of those Universal Void cruxes that only happen ever few millinium and leave Titans practically powerless. And THEN I had to share a cell with the Blob, who had apparently forgot to shower that month. I'm telling you, next time I get any major reality altering item, I'm defintley erasing that day from history."

You know, just seeing those two pages, I half-expect this story to end with Spider-Man and Hellcat defeating Thanos by distracting him with Hostess Twinkies.

mmmm, sponge cake.....golden, delicious...

Madison Carter

And while we're at it, give a series to Speedy the Skateboard Super-hero, whose power appears to be the ability to plant himself face first into Hellcat's chest.

Looking over the pages again, I think that's my favorite part. Not that Thanos is piloting a helicopter, but that he's got his name painted on it in gi-normous letters. Somehow, Squirrel Girl taking him down just gained a little more credibility.

I think those two cops ended up joining the FBI, eventually to be special operatives of the Commission on Superhuman Activities. Their names? Jake Farber and Elwood McNulty. :)

Thanks for psoting those Skull. I've seen them before, but no matter how many times I see those scans it never fails to make me laugh out loud.

You know, I think this just adds to Thanos' uniqueness. He's the only cosmic entity with a rap sheet.

IIRC, Pip and Maxam both got arrested in either Infinity Watch or Warlock Chronicles. And Pip has probably got a criminal record light years long elsewhere. (Though he may not count as a cosmic entity, but hey! It gives purple-puss and the hairy footed one something to bond over!)

I miss Maxam. Hope he makes a return sometime.

BUBBA: "You know, man, when I get outta here, I'm going legit. Gonna get me a nice little job at a construction company or something. Make amends with my family, save up some money. Make things right, y'know? What're your plans for when you get out?"

THANOS: "I'll be wiping out half the known universe. Been nice knowing you."

DRATTTTTT!!!!!!! agggggh
this is the most beautiful thing i've ever seen. thanoscopter. people repeatedly dropping one of the most powerful devices in the known universe.
this is...

36 pages without ads!
comics like this need to be made. this is also why badass characters might roar or growwl but never curse.
they can't use any of the good curses on panel and all the ones you can have in comics are so trite. (well, currently, some "curse" words that aren't so silly are used, but "drat?")

i thought being related to starfox was the silliest part of thanos...
boy am i glad i was wrong wrong wrong wrong.
though crushin' on the grim reaper is also kinda silly. maybe because i can't help but picture "and on the bass, DEATH!" "get down with yer bad self"
everytime i think of that crazy force of nature.

after this coming to light it's only a matter of time for a full-on benny hill-inspired thanos, cat, spiderman "hunt for the cosmic cube" video game.

Comics have changed so much, to where this issue doesn't even seem real anymore and more like a parody.

Thanos

I'm pretty sure that issue was meant for kids. Sorta like the current Marvel Adventures series.

That would certainly explain why they kept calling her "Cat" instead of Hellcat. And pre-internet, that threat by Thanos to "cream" Cat later probably sounded less filthy.

Cat predated Hellcat. Cat later became Tigra and her costume passed on to Hellcat.

That's true. But Greer Nelson had black hair and a claw insignia on the chest of her Cat costume. Patsy Walker had red hair and no claw insignia on her Hellcat costume. In this silly Thanos story, we're seeing Hellcat being called Cat.

It's quite possible that this was the Shirlee Bryant version of the Cat, who's discription does match.

She's an EXTREMELY obscure character though, still, juding by the fact that this series also used the Marvelboy from the 50s who realy got only one apperance, I don't guess it's too far out of the question to assume that.

They really need to get these Spidey stories out on tpd or essentials.

I believe Doom had already had a serious lightsabre fight with Warlord Krang in the pages of Super-Villain Team-Up #13. Okay, they were just Atlantean glowing energy swords, but still.

Shirlee was a blonde, so it's probably not her either. Since the costume has a "cat's paw" emblem on the chest, I'd guess this was Greer Nelson. I'd attribute the apparent red hair on the cover to a red light reflecting off Greer's brunette hair.
Hope this helps,
Darci
