When you're married, you don't need a magazine or video, because you always have a beautiful woman who won't sleep with you to look at whenever you want.

Not to be a wet blanket, but in the few instances in recent years when I have been exposed to porn, all I can think about is that the girl is someone's daughter.
And then I think about how I would feel if my own little girl had to do that for a living.
It's not a pleasant feeling.

You know, it is not like these "daughters" arent doing it of thier own free will. Besides, there are plenty of men in porn as well. I mean, porn is a blanket statement covering numerous different types and my porn may not constitute porn in your eyes and vice versa.....

I really don't want to throw this out, but one pornography expert has this to say about its aficionados:
"... Those who use pornography have also been shown to be more likely to engage in illegal behavior as well. Research indicates and my clinical experience supports that those who use pornography are more likely to go to prostitutes, engage in domestic violence, stranger rape, date rape, and incest. These beahviors should not be suprising since pornographic videos contaning all of these themes are readily available and the permssion-giving beliefs of these pornographic videos reinforced by the orgasm say that all these behaviors are normal, acceptable, common and don’t hurt anyone.
I have also seen in my clinical experience that pornography damages the sexual performance of the viewers. Pornography viewers tend to have problems with premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Having spent so much time in unnatural sexual experiences with paper, celluloid and cyberspace, they seem to find it difficult to have sex with a real human being. Pornography is raising their expectation and demand for types and amounts of sexual experiences at the same time it is reducing their ability to experience sex. ... "

"Porn Expert" Yeah, right. I'll put my porn creds up against hers any day. :)
These kinds of "studies" and testimonies crack me the hell up. Look, most crimes are committed by men between the ages of 16 and 30. And, look, WOW, it just so happens that that is also the same group which most consumes porn!
Wow. Porn causes crime!
LOL Seriously, it's been said a million times before, but correlation does not indicate causation.
This is the sort of quackery that gives actual scientists and psychologists a bad name. Take an agenda, assume a result, and then do a "study" to show that you were right all along.
Porn is porn. There are a lot of things that can be said about it. The idea that it causes criminality is just ludicrous. I bet you any money that I could do a study that would show that college football fans are more likely to commit crimes than non-fans. And the reasons it would show that are the same.
Come on. Seriously. No one actually believes this bunk do they?

Studies that show pornography lessens the number of rapes that occur in the U.S. (http://www.melonfarmers.co.uk/aswhywar.htm)
Careful, the first link (after my link) is 52 pages (double spaced), so it might take a bit of time to read. Although I'm sure that most of it is just the boring statistical stuff that Pullmann was interested in.

I would imagine that those who have hands are more likely to engage in stabbing other people. I'm not going to cut off my hands and I see no reason why I shouldn't enjoy pornography. I am not a criminal and just because I have something in common with a criminal doesn't change that.
There are also experts who think that more access to pornography curbs the incidents of rape in a society. This is a link (http://www.netscape.com/viewstory/2006/08/25/porn-up-because-rape-down/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fpapers.ssrn.com%2Fsol3%2Fpapers. cfm%3Fabstract_id%3D913013&frame=true) to an abstract view one such expert's opinion as well as place to download a pdf with the full article.

you kids today . . .
you really missed out. See, back in the 70's, there were these things called "albums"

I used to hide all my hardcore gay porn from my Mom in my record collection from the time I was about 13 until I was about 16 (when I moved into my own place).
yep. . I was buying hardcore gay porn (from the Newstand in Sharpstown mall! when I was 13).

Ummm.
Oh boy.
I really don't want to throw this out, but one pornography expert has this to say about its aficionados:
I'd like to see her supposed expert credentials, and some actual data to back up her claims
In my clinical experience, and according to the consensus of research literature by experts in sex therapy, clinical psychology and related fields, she is largely full of shit. What she describes fits some people, but hardly the bulk.
Frankly, she sounds like one the proponents of the "sex addiction" concept. Despite this crap being featured on Oprah and all over the pop media, it's interesting to note that "sex addiction" is not an actual diagnosis, and the concept has not been scientifically validated and is not formally recognized by the AMA, American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Association of Clinical Sexologists, etc. Offhand, I'm not aware of any recognized professional organization that recognizes sex addiction as a diagnosis. In fact, the bulk of the "sex addiction/porn addiction" folk are funded by and/or closely associated with right-wing Christian extremist groups, often behind the scenes. That whole industry is largely a way to try to label as mental illness those things social conservatives label as sin.
This isn't to say there aren't people that have problems related to compulsive porn use, or that some folk aren't unhealthily fixated on porn, or don't have unrealistic ideas about sex due to mistaking porn stuff for the way most people do sex. Those things do happen, and can be very real problems, but this supposed expert is way overstating the case - which is all too typical for people testifying to Congress. More interested in headlines and politics than science, many of these folk are unrepresentative "experts" that often have an axe to grind and do not speak for the scientific consensus.

Yeah, there was a real lack of data for someone speaking so authoritatively.
The Bush Administration spoke authoritatively about WMDs in Iraq, too.
And, it isn't unusualy for people to speak authoritatively while speaking out their ass. This has happened a lot in regard to porn. James Dobson has made claims which are distortions of and complete lies about the research in that area. So did the various, biased "experts" lined up for the Meese report on porn back during the Reagan era.
I know the research in this area, and the results of said research don't support the claims made by this alleged expert.

Well, since we have a 5-yr-old, we tend to keep most of it in the drawer under our bed. But once he gets of age, it doesn't really matter---We're sure he'll have investigated porn by the time he's an adult, anyway.
Bear in mind, we're nudists at times, and have taken him to a clothing optional beach with us... so it's not nudity per se that we have any issues with---just "action" and certain "poses" of nudity that makes it "porn."
To us, nudity is simply the clothing of the spirit (that's what our flesh really is: another kind of clothes). "Porn" is *action* and *sexual poses*... which is a whole different kettle of fish, and certainly not suitable for a child to see.
