Hey I wrote a Flash story for DCU Infinite Christmas. Here's a couple of pages the nice folks at the Pulse put up...

Fun to write and seeing the art is such a kick. I made up a mix of Brainiac and the Joker last year in a sketchbook coming back from the San Deigo Con last year and called him Insaniac. He makes it into a panel in this story fighting the Titans.

Damn, now I have to buy this book. I wasn't going to, owing to the presence of "Infinite" in the title. But you had me at Insaniac.

I've been a fan of Bart since he was Impulse and, while I can't approve what's been done to him since them, I'll still read every story that features him even marginally.

On the upside, this is the first story I've seen with him acting like his old self. For that, thank you, you beautiful beautiful person.

I love it!
Insaniac, my purist Batman loving friend (who dislikes the merest suggestion that the Batman universe is anything but self-contained) would balk at the suggestion but I really love it!

and it has beautiful Scott Collins-ish artwork too -- funny, the Flash story is the reason I picked this up, and I didn't even notice your name in the credits!

Nice job Ian.

I saw this today but was in a hurry and didn't pick it up. I'll grab it (meaning buy it, of course) the next time I'm at the shop.

Best story in an overpriced, shite collection. I liked a few of the gags in Ian's story, but it was too short to amount to much, just like the rest of the book.

Dude not to inflate your ego or anything but based on these pages, your the person they need writing Flash, not Bilson & DeMeo.

I liked this whole special.

They were all good stories, mostly tinged with a bit of darkness, but ending in a very happy, holiday-appropriate manner. And a couple of them were downright hilarious.

I really enjoyed the Flash story. It was another one about fathers (lots of those here), and showed that sometimes no matter how much you want to redeem yourself, or do something nice for someone else, you might just need some help. And Bart of course is buoyed by having the oppportunity to help another. And the ending was great.

I found a lot of these stories to be quite touching, to be honest. Maybe I'm just a sap, I don't know. But I thought that the Flash story, for instance, was moving.

Great job, Ian.

Hey, Ian. I read the comic without paying attention to who was writing what (I started to read the contents page, but didn't want to spoil anything like the main characters, so I stopped).

Your Flash story and Kelly's Supergirl short were definitely my favorites. And looking back, I'd have to say you wrote the best story in the collection. Having said that...

Tarts?! Tarts, in a Christmas story?! There could be children reading this thing, man. Such wickedness has no place in the Holiday Season! (Excuse me, Fox News, the Bow-Before-the-Religious-Right Season.) What did you say to yourself, that our heroes deserved a little sweet along with the bitter? Humph!

May elves fill your stockings with coals. Hot ones. That you notice just as you're about to pull them on, or when you open your sock drawer (smoke's usually a hint). May your boss be Scroogified and refuse to pay you for this work. May a dozen flying reindeer drive you into the heart of Old Man Winter's domain so you can be transformed into a living snowman and then sent on vacation in the South Pacific. May the pitiful Christmas tree you choose on the lot infect all your other houseplants with its infirmities, and then ignite as it huddles in shame before the fireplace. May an angel appear to you, review your entire life before your eyes, and come to the conclusion: "Yeah, you really would have been a lot happier as a stockbroker, buddy. This writing thing was a total waste."

May...

Oh wait, I'm out of holiday specials. Well, you get the idea.

Fie upon thee!

...

But otherwise, well done. ;)

Glad you liked the Supergirl and Flash stories, maybe next year all of the tales can be about deadbeat dads. Hey the Superman from the most recent movie would fit right in.

And as for the tart issue I hear you. But at least it wasn't fruitcake.
