Does anyone know who were the 7 characters Henry Peter Gyrich chose as his new Avengers & why did he choose them, what did he think that each member would bring?

Ironman , Cap , wanda, Beast, Vision , Wasp and the Falcon who wasn't present. He Picked the first six because they were already part of the overcrowded Avengers . He didn't give any reasons , although he kept Ironman as Chairman . He chose Falcon because the team need a minority in the absense of the Black Panther.

I don't recall anyone crying foul or minority quota back then, though there was a subplot of Sam Wilson feeling singled out as a result, until he got more comfortable with the position and role. And if memory serves, it wasn't too terribly long before other members (Thor, in particular) were drawn into the fights, which somewhat set that seven member roster asside. (Not that I minded that... I kind of liked some limitations and a focus to the initial core group...but that others were "on-call" whenever a situation would call them in.)

The original Ms. Marvel officially joined in The Avengers #183 to fill out the group. Gyrich approved of her, although he was not happy about it. Hawkeye fought Deathbird all by himself in The Avengers #189, but he was no longer an official Avenger anymore...
Yes, Falcon was chosen to be the token black super-heo & he was not happy about it at all! I think he quit the team not long afterwards in protest for his "status" as the token minority.
The Scarlet Witch & Beast remained to be the token mutants in the Avengers.

Gyrich made a point of saying that because Black panther wasn't going to stay, they needed to be represented by a Minority.
